I went here on the reccomendation of a friend who comes here on a regular basis. This place is your typical Irish pub, but its supposed to serve above-average bar food and it does. Unlike most bars the place is very clean with a nice outdoor seating area in the back. Service was very friendly and efficient, and most importantly the beer selection was good with Dogfish Head on bottle as well as some other good stuff. For starters we have the fried calamari, and then I had the shepard's pie as a main. While my friend who reccomended the place absolutely loves the calamari, I thought it was just ok. The rings were huge and meaty, but the coating wasn't much and the tomato suace it came with sucked. For the record, my friend told me afterwards that he gets this with 4 different sauces, but I digress. My shepard's pie was very good though, and to be honest I'm not the biggest shepard's pie fan. The mashed potatoes on top were whipped, crisp, and had a perfect consistency. The meat and peas inside was very good although I wasn't wild about how much spice they used. I did enjoy it though, and when I tried my brothers chicken tenders I was very impressed: freshly made, thin and crisp. These Irishmen obviously care about what they do, and I will be back to try their buffalo chicken tenders which are supposed to be great! read more

We had been looking for some new local eateries to enjoy. Went here a few weeks ago based on Yelp reviews. We went on a Friday night for dinner. The ambiance was definitely more bar than dining when we were there. Probably not a place I would go again with my 4yo daughter, at least not on a Friday night. We had the Buffalo Shrimp (not sure what they were called) for App. They were basically fried balls of breading. There were almost no shrimp to be found. We both had the French Dip for our dinner and this was very tasty. The waffle fries weren't the best but the sandwich was very good. Had about half a dozen good beers on tap. I started with a Long Trail Belgian Wheat which was Meh, and I can't remember what I had for my 2nd round, except that whatever it was was served to me in a plastic solo cup. Sufficient glassware seems like an essential aspect of running a bar, but what do I know?? read more

We had no clue we were going to stop at Copperfields on Black Friday, we were simply driving home from Thanksgiving. And we are glad that we did. Hubs was working remotely from the car as I drove, he needed to jump on a 2pm call, we were hungry and thirsty, we found Copperfields from the car doing a google search. We parked ourselves at a club table right next to the fireplace, our waitress was friendly and efficient, the noise level was at a point where hubs didn't have to shout and we ordered a French Dip & a Cheeseburger and a beer. The only reason I'm taking away a star is that the burger was overcooked, but not enough to the point where we asked for a remake. Copperfields is clearly a local hang out, numerous patrons at the bar drinking beers, families with small children, everyone knew one another. We were not rushed in any way and the waitress did numerous check backs. The bathroom was clean, my chair was extremely comfortable, the wifi was okay, if we drive back in this area again, we'd definitely stop by. read more

Ehh it's an ok spot for a quick bite and some drinks, bartenders do good under pressure because some nights Can be hectic. Certain days have a young just made 21 crowd so watch out for drunken obnoxiousness Lol.. So for the 30's crowd on certain days things are much more together and less rowdy . Either way Monday's are burger day for 10$ and not bad at all. So worth the visit. Over all it's a decent spot. read more

If you're in Montgomery and you're hungry, you can probably skip Copperfields. Inside this bar, disguised as an old Irish Pub, beats the heart of a dive. But not the kind of charming dive bar that people go out of their way for. The kind of establishment that serves sub-par food and never cleans. Upon entering, I was greeted by an obnoxious odor that was reminiscent of a moldy basement. "Ambiance," I thought to myself. Walking a narrow path between day-time drunks at the bar proper, and an imposing wood panel wall sticky with spilled beer, I made my way to the rear end of the building. Seated in the far back was the party I was meeting. The windows in the atrium style dining room were smokey with dirt and looked like they hadn't been cleaned correctly in several years. Ratty benches. Busted tables. Musty curtains. No care or effort put into the interior's upkeep was detectable. It was a rainy day. I could tell this not only by the weather outside, but also by the leak that slowly dripped on my head while I waited for my server. And wait I did. And waited. And waited some more. This would become a reoccurring theme of my visit. To be fair, the server was very nice, but slower than a turtle giving a sloth a piggyback ride. Finally my food arrived. I got the "Reuben" with waffle fries. In the menu, it was described as "fresh cut corned beef." Fresh cut? It was directly off a big box supermarket deli counter. And the coleslaw I asked to be put on the side, was in fact on the side, as well as on my sandwich. Maybe I wasn't clear that I wanted it only on the side, not in addition to what came on it. Okay. I'll take the blame for that. But the blame for the mountain of salt added to my fries was definitely on the cook. My mouth was burning after I finished half of the potato side dish. Now, I didn't have a beer, and this is a bar, so they may get better marks for that part of the business. I may have even given them two stars, if not for the four star average. This is not a four star experience. On their best day, a three may be charitable. You can be sure, I will not be going back to Copperfield's... unless it's for my own Irish Wake. read more

I don't ever do this but have to and my wife is making me while she drives. I brought 16 people to this place after a funeral, unfortunately but it was close and I was told it was the place to go in town. It was a Monday so a lot was closed but they are open all 7 days. We were seated and surprisingly had a new server. I'll say I was a little worried but unless she didn't tell us she was new I would have never known. There was also a girl helping her that was sweet but she was mainly tending bar because there was customers up there. We got all of our drinks in a timely manner, no issues with our order, she made sure to pick up your plate when you were finished and had your drink refilled before you could ask and I really appreciated that. I will say It was very warm in the dining room downstairs but she opened the door because the air didn't seem to be working well down there. All around it was a great experience and I had to write a review because I was just so taken back that a server on her first day (I believe she said it was her first day) did so well. If I lived closer I would be back more often but I will definitely be back one of these days. And to top everything off the food was excellent. read more

Great Pub atmosphere. We stopped here on our way home from Ohio because we didn't want fast food. Wide variety of meal options and side substitutes. Loved that the meals were served with waffle fries. Great beer selection too....Subscribe to the restaurant on UnTapped to see what they have in current rotation. After having recently moved to Montgomery my wife and I decided to try a local place instead of the normal chain restaurant. The atmosphere is local town bar (although it did remind me of an Irish Pub ) with loads of folks crowed around the bar. Seat yourself in the front or back. Great beer selection keeping in theme with the Irish Pub. Food was good. Large portions. Well prepared and definitely a filling meal. Service was good. No rushing here. You can take your time and stay as long as you like. Another reminder of Europe. If you're in Montgomery NY to pick pumpkins and enjoy the Fall weather or just cruising through anytime, stop by for a meal and a Pint. You will not be disappointed read more

I'm torn between 3 & 4 stars. This is good pub food; not great, not gourmet, but good and with generous portions. There is a great selection of draft beers. All staff we encountered were very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We shared an appetizer of cheese, bacon, and ranch waffle fries. They were hot, crispy, and filling. My husband had a Jeter burger. You really can't go wrong with a burger here. On Mondays they have 101 to choose from. I ordered the chimichanga, based on another review. The bartender informed me before I ordered that they are not fried, as is traditionally the way you might expect them to be prepared. They were more like enchiladas. Apparently, Sam and I are the only people who have enjoyed this place enough to Yelp it. That, or no one in Montgomery has heard of Yelp. Montgomery is pretty lame like that, hence why we moved to Chicago. On to the food...the BEST! The Super Nachos here are the best plate of food I have ever had. Refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeos, salsa, sour cream...I have dreams about these Nachos. I have tried a lot of other nachos, but have never found anything equivalent. Had liked Cooperfields. Moved away and remembered that they got skimpy on burger toppings. Been a few years and today's visit sad to say the same. Example Menu says smothered in blue cheese, it was a skim of blue cheese; burgers cooked more then asked. I know it's a Monday and mid afternoon, but one person was waitress and bartender. More concerned about the skimpy toppings still skimpy. ALSO read another review and yes it's also a pain that I want to recommend friends to eat their but it's also the bar in town for the locals and that RUINS it a lot. Locals bars like that part of the restaurant, lots of times I agree have staff that don't act professional and dumb down the place. Best pub with best pub food. This place has over 20 beers on tap, including my favorite Magic Hat #9. My favorite days to go are Monday and Tuesday. On these days they have a special hamburger menu which consists off 101 choices and are buy one get one free. Places get busy on weekend nights and has an outdoor patio open during the summer. I have been to this place twice when driving between the Poconos and Hartford, to meet a friend who lives in the area. It is definitely a friendly environment and the food is great. I had an order of wings and Chicken Fingers, my girlfriend had a Buffalo Chicken wrap. I cannot remember what my friends ate (but who cares about them anyway??). The prices are pretty good too. We had 4 people eating, some with appetizers, and we eat had at least 2 drinks and our bill was 80 bucks, which I found reasonable. The server was extremely nice, and the service was quick. The owner also was there hanging out at the corner of the bar drinking and eating and having a good time with the regulars. read more

This covers roughly a four week period. First trip, flaky waitress brought bill and tax on bill was roughly 50 per cent of cost of food. Second trip same flaky waitress brought food but no table setting. I had to get up, follow her and ask for table setting. Within two minutes of bringing setting she outrageously asked me if everything was okay. Third and fourth trips, different waitresses, good food, good service. Fifth trip, two waitresses momentarily glanced in my direction. I walked out. Conclusion: quality control of servers and management of personnel sucks. Totally disappointing. I remember the food being great here. I got the Swiss mushroom burger with onion rings. It was ok. The onion rings were fantastic. But you can't go wrong with beer battered onion rings. The kids got penne with butter and Mac and cheese. Kinda expensive for just a small plate of pasta with a drink. I feel the prices for the adult meals were ok but too expensive for the kids meal. My husband got the turkey club. It barely had mayo on it. The waitress only had 3 small tables but she was slow and only came by once to see how the food was. I had to get her for food boxes and the check. Hubby said his food was crap now. Went there in the evening and the waitress was super rude. She made it obvious that she didn't want to be there and she made the group feel like we were a burden. Me an my wife tried this place on a Sunday at early evening. The outside does not prepare you for the interesting formal interior. The good: The food was great. This was the best meal I have had in a long time. This alone earns it three stars. The bad: Service was painfully slow. Not sure why but it took us 90 minutes to get fed and get out. There were a lot of flies, this needs to be addressed. The price was in the range of a formal dining venue. To earn the right to charge a premium you need better service and no flies. We will go back for a special occasion and likely try sitting in the bar. Overall great food! read more

Past reviewers got it right; service definitely slow and indifferent. Come here for the beer (if you can get it, mine came after our entrees) and possibly the food if you steer clear of anything with corned beef. I know, it's an Irish pub, how could they muck that up? If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We were there with a group of 6 and the service was very poor. 2 of us forgot our Id's and we understood she couldn't serve us alcohol because of this. But one of us went to get our missing ID and in the process the waitress dropped the check to the rest of the group because "she figured we were ready to leave". Little did she know we were prepared to order apps and entrees for the entire group. I don't remember her name because she didn't introduce herself but she was very rude and didn't even give our group the opportunity to order entrees. She simply assumed we were ready for the check and left it at the table without any explanation. We still tipped her over 20% but we will not be returning to this establishment because of the poor service. Pretty good pub food with quick and friendly service. It was pretty busy so we had to wait for a table but it was okay.

The food is good or just ok depending on what you order (get a burger or fish and chips to be safe, avoid the "famous" nachos- gross) We did love their patio and they do have a good beer selection. But if you're sitting outside or somewhere you can't read the chalkboard list of what's on tap be prepared not to get any help from your server. I really don't expect them to have the whole list memorized, but you can't just name a few or give a suggestion? Either they aren't familiar with anything they are selling, or they are lazy and just don't care about customer service. Kind of disappointing. read more

the food at copperfield's is fantastic. from the thick, juicy burgers, to a very nice selection of authentic and delicious mexican fare, this is a great place to eat. the full menu is offered at the bar, dining room, and also the outdoor 'beer garden'. seating at the bar can be a bit packed depending on the day and time, but the dining room has a very comfortable feel, even when full. i checked good for kids, but please keep in mind that it is a bar, so the noise level may be a bit louder than some restaurants. and if you are going out on a friday or saturday evening, the bar crowd can be somewhat vocal at times, although management does what they can to keep it down for the dining crowd. the downstairs dining room is far enough away to have a good eating environment. they have local bands on weekends and it is the best place around to catch the yankee games. read more

I always go here on Tuesdays for happy hour and sliders (Slider tuesdays, all sliders are $7). This place is great for anyone that likes craft beer and bar food. One of my favorite bars w great food as well! I love all their food but but my 2 favorite dishes are the grilled veggie wrap and the florentine wrap (I'm a vegetarian). Waffle fries are the best fries around & they have awesome pickles. As a vegetarian it's not always easy to find a variety of dishes to pick from and I never feel like that at copperfields. I've eaten here many times and I have to say it serves some of the best bar food south of P&G's in New Paltz. However there are a few things that hold this place back from completely greatness. First the GOOD Menu is large, diverse and covers all the bases. From Burgers to sandwiches to salads. The specialty on the menu is Mexican and hands down it's the best place for latin food for miles. Decent wings, large, fresh salads, great French Onion Soup, great sandwiches and wraps. I have yet to find a food not prepared to my liking. The Bad. The Wait Staff means well... there are some nice girls who waitress here... but service is dreadfully slow. When you are seating in the back it's like a black hole.... if the waitress forgets a knife or a condiment you'll have better luck walking into the kitchen and finding it yourself. One time I waited 11 minutes for ketchup. Do you know how cold a burger gets in 11 minutes? The Ugly It's just not a nice environment to eat in. On a Saturday afternoon, on a pub crawl, after knocking back a few drinks it's acceptable, but on a Sunday afternoon coming back from grocery shopping it's not a place you want to walk into. The tables are wobbly, dining furniture old and beat up and the curtains are at least 20 years old. It just doesn't seem very clean. Add to that... there is a pretty tough regular bar crowd, and to get to the back dining room you have to make your way through the bar. There's a tough blue collar element mixed with privileged hipsters. It's a shame b/c the food is really good and the beers on tap are outstanding. It's not my intent to rag on the patrons... it's just a terrible design to have the dining room only accessible through walking through that bar. read more

I have yet to sit at the bar, so my times here have been dinner, and unfortunatly im really never impressed with anything there. Its looked the same as it always has since I was a kid. And i'd mention something about the food but obviously its not all that memoriable... On the other hand I have close friends who LOVE this place, maybe next time I'll order what they're having or try something from the bar. read more
