Was taking an RV trip and on the way to Mammoth, we pulled over to grab some bbq to tide us over until we made it to the cabin. First, plentiful parking, even for our small Cruise America camper. You just queue up outside and then order at the window. While waiting, you can see them smoking and barbecuing away outside. Once you order, you pop inside to pickup your order, cutlery, and sauces. On our latest trip we placed our order for 7:30pm. Unfortunately a fire started on our drive up and they shut down the freeway. We were able to call and Matt told us that he would keep our food in case we got there past 8pm. You know when you see those smokers, it's going to be a banger. And it did not disappoint. I had to wait about 20 minutes to make my order but it only took 5 minutes to pick it up. Every time we drive through Big Pine to head to Bishop we smell the amazing smoker at Copper Top. Since we decided to try new things this trip, we finally stopped to try the bbq. We were glad we did! We both got the tri tip sandwich, one with potato salad and the other with mac and cheese. All of our choices were amazing! The tri tip we decided on had a little bit of a spicy sauce, so flavorful! The pretzel bread bun was unique and I wasn't sure about it initially, but after one taste I was sold! This sandwich was great! I haven't been here for yrs. I remember being really good. It's still good but their portion has gotten so much smaller and more expensive. Guess they got popular so they are cutting back somewhere to make more profit. Forgot to take pictures. Stopped in as we were in the area. I order 1/2 pound tri tip it came with the roll and some potatoe salad. I must say its a cute place with great food. Service is great and we enjoyed the pulled pork sandwhich also. There is a little side room beyond the flags with a swamp cooler for those hotter days. This was such a good pit stop on our road trip. We got there at like 11am just because that's when we were passing through, and the line wasn't too bad yet. By the time we left it was a crazy line, but I get why now. I mean, it's not texas bbq - but for being in the middle of seemingly nowhere, it might as well be a meat oasis. My wife and I got the platter for two with pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and sausage - with a side of beans and mac & cheese. Food was great, service was a little hectic. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and there was live music playing, which made the atmosphere even more charming. Alright. I've been driving the 395 for 20+ years. I've wanted to stop here for a while and we finally did. I ordered the ribs, and so did my wife. 4 ribs, a side and a drink was $25. The ribs were nothing great, sadly. I felt somewhat ripped off for the price vs the size of the ribs. I ordered the green chili as a side, my wife ordered the Mac and cheese. The Mac was really good and one of the only redeeming items of this meal. The green chili was whatever. The spicy bbq sauce was good. All the staff working were polite and helpful. The outside seating area is nice. $50 for 8 ribs is highway robbery. Literally. For reference, Costco sells 8lbs of the same ribs for about $45. I don't foresee us stopping here ever again. Save your pesos and eat somewhere else along the 395 Separately, when you order, there's toys for kids, my son got the pink squishy pig. My friends and I along with our wives stopped by this restaurant to eat on our way back to Los Angeles from Mammoth Lake. We arrived around 10:30 am and were told by employees they don't open until 11 am. Which is perfectly fine. Employee even recommended a coffee shop which we tried. However, the employee never said about the line and wait time when they open. If he had mentioned anything we, would've just wait at the restaurant. We ordered nine well done hamburgers and the food was just amazing. I really recommend folks to stop and try the food. The wait is worth it! Female cashier was very wonderful and helpful. Super patient with our large order. However, after waiting for almost 25 minutes, I asked the gentleman serving the ready food about our order and he was clearly bothered by my question and rudely said, it's going to take a long time since you order nine well done burgers. If you show up shortly before 11 am sitting will be fine. However, I really wish this restaurant had some rules and regulations about dogs in the restaurant. Multiple people with their dogs just walking around the place with no care for other customers. With my situation my wife was attacked by a dog when she was a child and has bad trauma. While our group sat at a table to eat, my wife was crying inside the car and I was standing by the car in the street eating my food. The restaurant should designate an area outside for dog owners to sit, making it easier for others to sit inside. Restaurant overall is very clean. Wow! Have been driving past here for years and years on the way to Tahoe and can't believe I haven't stopped until this year. Truly this BBQ is so good, on the way up we got the mega platter to eat for dinner and then on the way home we picked up vacuum sealed bags to take home with us for a later date. After you park in the small lot, if you find one, you come to the front left side to wait in the line to go up to a window to tell the cashier what you want. We tried a variety of stuff, but nothing was great. Nothing was good. Some of it was ok. Sorry, actually, the Mac N' Cheese was the only thing that was ok. Everything else was below par, but considering it's out there in BFE, it's probably good because that's all they really have. There is another place down the street, but I haven't tried that yet. It's mediocre bbq at its best... it's got a lot of traffic because hikers, campers and burners whom are all hungry after being out in nature for days stop by here since it's the first stop on their way back... ribs had no meat and tons of fat. Tri tip had no flavor at all. They also serve all the food in plastic to go containers, even if you are not to take anything home so a ton of plastic is created and put in our planet thanks to this business daily when they can easily use paper plates or reusable plates... Since all the meats were cooked to perfection I really can't say I liked one over the other. The tri tip cooked to perfection and the ribs were so tender, the pulled pork was melt in your mouth perfection and the chicken sausage was awsome.
