Service 2 couples left the restaurant because after 30 minutes no one came to their table. We waited a long time for everything. We did speak to the manager about everything we dealt with that evening. She was apologetic and set out to make it right. She really went out of her way to make things right. If I visit Maryland again, I wouldn't stop by even though she made every effort to make up for the negative experience. Food Ribs were hard on both ends. Center of the ribs was dry and chewy. Title: A Redemption Rack of Ribs at Copper Canyon Back in town on business and decided to give Copper Canyon Grill another shot after a so-so experience about eight months ago. Last time, the atmosphere was great, but my meal fell flat. This time? Let's just say I found redemption in the ribs. The ambiance is still as elegant and polished as I remembered--perfect for an upscale dinner that doesn't feel stuffy. I went with the barbecue pork ribs this round, which came with shoestring fries and coleslaw. The plate arrived piping hot and looking like it belonged in a magazine spread. And the ribs? Oh man, they didn't lie--meat fell right off the bone like it was trying to impress somebody. Tender, flavorful, and just messy enough to remind you that you're still eating real barbecue. Nice touch here: they brought a warm, damp washcloth after the meal to clean up, which I thought was a thoughtful gesture--especially after tackling a full rack of ribs. The shoestring fries were the only weak spot for me. Just a personal thing--I think wider-cut fries would've been a better match. The coleslaw, though, was a win: moist but not runny, crisp, and just tangy enough to complement the richness of the ribs without overpowering anything. I also ordered a mixed drink, and once again, the cranberry element was practically on vacation. But my server, Matthew, was quick to make it right. He brought over extra cranberry juice without hesitation--even though it was a busy Wednesday night--and handled everything with great professionalism. All in all, much happier with this visit. If you're swinging through town and in the mood for a classy setting with some seriously tasty ribs, Copper Canyon Grill might just surprise you--especially if they someday rethink the fries. read more

Crabcakes?? Yes! They have them and they are delicious!! My husband and I travel from NC to MD at least once a year, just to get crabcakes and visit a favorite vegan restaurant(another review). We stopped at Copper Canyon, because it was near my sister's home and we didn't have to drive further into the city. The crab cakes were small, and we forgot: they only use lump crab meat! No fillers, just crabmeat, special seasonings, and great sides. This creates a great meal for a great price. The atmosphere is dressy/casual, upscale, first date meetup, or whatever you may need. I suggest making a reservation if you go Thursday-Sunday. They had live music when we went on Wednesday. They also do takeout if you don't have time to eat in. ‍ I suggest eating in for the full experience! read more

I met friends here for an early dinner. I arrived at 5:30 and asked the hostesses about happy hour. Three ladies informed me that happy hour is offered at the bar only. Once I found seats at the bar and asked for the menu I learned that cooper canyon calls it social hour and the specials aren't that special. The offerings are just a few dollars drinks and select food items. Nonetheless my friends and enjoyed a few drinks for a discounted price. The crab dip and truffle fries were both far too salty for my liking. We sent the fries back but the second batch were just as salty. Once seated at our table about 45 minutes later I couldn't help but notice that the restaurant was pretty warm, like uncomfortably sticky in our booth. We asked for some recommendations from our waitress and she wasn't very helpful. We decided on the famous roasted chicken, a pot pie and a Club salad. I subbed the green beans for a Cesar salad and unfortunately the dressing lacked flavor and the large portion of cornbread was dry. I shared that with the waitress but she didn't offer to swap it out or bring a fresh piece. My friend enjoyed her salad but noted she could have used more dressing. Copper Canyon is really close to my house so I may try again. I hope the air is working the next time I visit. read more

I've been here several times and decided to try something new upon a friend's recommendation. I ordered the meatloaf with green beans & mashed potatoes, and it was a great choice. The meatloaf was a mix of ground chuck, pork sausage, smoked cheddar, & Monterey Jack cheese lightly topped with a fire-roasted tomato sauce. It hearty, flavorful, & comes with 3 thick slices, but I could only eat 2. The mashed potatoes were thick & creamy, and they don't even need gravy. The green beans were seasoned & still had a slight crisp to them. Meatloaf isn't one of my got to dishes, but this one was pretty good. My friend ordered the pot pie. I just had a taste but enjoyed it and I'll probably order that next time. Copper Canyon for the win. read more

A change in plans landed me at Copper Canyon, and this location was most convenient. A short distance from FedEx Field and not a far drive from the Capital Beltway, this venue offers an array of options and a vast list of cocktails to satisfy and quench. Parking is ample, but note this is a busy area. Arrived right before the dinner crowd with no reservations, it was a short wait (10min) until seated. The shrimp appetizer was tasty, but 3 pieces albeit large is pricey for $18. The jalapeño cornbread was light and airy fluffier than expected for cornmeal, making it very crumbly otherwise it was fine. The crab cake sandwich was great, except it was way smaller than the bun. Unbalanced and disappointing at $24 as it was even more lacking served with shoestring fries. The service received from Lana was wonderful. She was quick, knowledgeable, and down to earth personable. Overall, the ambience was warm, the live band was a nice touch. Not bad for first time visit. Will be back to try other options if in the area. read more

Copper Canyon will alway be my favorite place to visit. The ambiance is always perfect, love the dim lights. The food however is always savory and delicious. My go-to's are the rattlesnake pasta, ribs, cheese burger and spinach dip. The salads are always delicious. Honestly, everything is good here. Use open table to reserve your table. On weekends you'll wait 45-1 hour for a wait without a reservation. Bar seating is open seating and what I end up having to do when I forget to reserve. Live music on weekends. Staff: They could have nicer staff, that would be the ONLY thing I could critic. Staff just aren't friendly. I shouldn't be saying hello first or engaging in conversation first. Everyone on staff should be smiling, upbeat and being hospitable. read more

Today's lunch at Copper Canyon Grill felt like a little family reunion. I went with my coworker, Kinder, and my former colleague, Dee Dee, and we ended up running into another friend, Michael Cooper, which made it even more special. We stayed for a few hours swapping stories and enjoying the good vibes and cozy atmosphere. Now, onto the food, which never disappoints. I had my usual go-to: chicken pot pie, and let me tell you, it's still one of the best I've had anywhere. They cook each fresh in its skillet, so it comes out hot, creamy, and packed with protein and veggies, wrapped in a golden, buttery crust that practically melts when it touches your tongue. Next time, I'll remember to snap a picture because it looks as good as it tastes. We also tried a new menu item: buttermilk biscuits with honey butter spread. This was a game-changer. You get three biscuits for $8.50, which was perfect for our trio. They were soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Dee Dee had a salad with a generous slice of cornbread--decent, but not a standout. Kinder ordered the meatloaf, but it didn't wow her (she took most of it home). So for us, the pot pie and biscuits were the real stars. I washed it all down with an Arnold Palmer, my usual unless I'm going for something more substantial. Between the drinks, entrees, biscuits, and good company, we had a full meal with appetizers and drinks for under $100. Ambience? Chill, dimly lit, intimate--but not so quiet that you feel whispering. You can laugh and feel like you're in your world. Our waitress took great care of us, too--friendly, attentive, and on point. All in all: great food, great company, great experience. My wife and I just stopped in here for a quick drink. We quickly regretted our decision because the food smelled fabulous. The bar service was very quick. They had a live jazz band playing softly in the corner. The service was very well trained in asking about dietary restrictions etc (we heard multiple servers ask at tables nearby), and the cocktails were on point. Pretty decent restaurant! I use to be a regular but we kind of grew out of it. My mom really loves the bread pudding as do I so we get it as a treat when she's in town. I've tried most things on the menu. The salads are huge, cornbread is good, baked chicken is a fool proof hearty meal, burgers are decent, don't care for the rattlesnake pasta at all, love their egg rolls, spinach dip is just ok, chicken sandwich is good, ribs are hit or miss, I dont care for the Mac and cheese with bacon in it, pot pie is hearty, salmon is ok, desserts are huge and usually always good and you can't go wrong with any, and lately my favorite is the fish and fries...soooo good! My mom and I were in the area and wanted to stop by a restaurant just to sit at the bar and have quality time. We decided on Copper Canyon and I am glad that we did. On Saturdays, they have a live jazz! Additionally, we got seats at the bar. Though there was a bit of a crowd within the entire restaurant, our bartender Ashley made sure that we were well taken care of. We loved the mussels. The baguette that came with it was also very delicious and was good to dip in white wine broth. Great space with lots of seating in such a convenient location. Service was good and waitress was very nice and helpful with our orders. The best thing for me was the chicken pot pie, great portion with wonderful homemade flavors, crust was impeccable as well as buttery. The steaks we had were nice and tender while giving off that smoky chargrill taste alongside the garlic fries. Cornbread was ok not too moist which is what would've made it better. The hostesses greeted us upon arrival with warm smiles and welcomes -- nice energy! It was lunch time, not many people dining at the time, so we grabbed a seat at the bar. Food was pretty good. I had the plant-based burger and fries. Typical preparation and presentation. We also had the spinach dip -- that was flavorful and fresh, however the chips were a bit tight-like they had been reheated. Ambiance is nice, tasteful. Overall this spot is ok. I've heard it is a hot spot for locals, but perhaps because we weren't regulars, we didn't get that vibe. The bartender's energy was off, however we did notice that after a few regulars arrived, they perked up and was chatty with the familiar faces. (We didn't get that). Took my daughter here for a congratulatory meal. We were seated promptly within 5 minutes of entry. Nice ambiance with specials offered during happy hour. I appreciated the open kitchen concept and dim decor. Candles served as nice accents on the table and our waiter was excellent. I recommend the pear martini. Portions are huge you will have enough leftover for the next meal. Cornbread also good. Rattle snake pasta is one of my favorites. A must try. Clean, good service and great food. We went here on a snowy/rainy night for this week's couple's date. We were disappointed to see the Amazon driver parked in the Handicapped spot, and we didn't feel like waiting for him to move, so I was let out front to go in. The music that greeted us was loud jazz, and I thought there was a live band at times, but I couldn't see over on that side. (Sweetie confirmed there was at least one musician.) However, the music fit with the dim lighting and overall ambiance. We were seated and greeted quickly. Appetizers were put in quickly: fiesta egg rolls and Caesar salad. Both our servers were on point (one was in training.) They kept the drinks refilled and stopped by our table numerous times to check on us. I got the rainbow trout w/spinach + mash, and Poppa got the meatloaf w/mash + green beans. I typically get the prime rib, which I really like, but I needed some lighter fare tonight --I'm glad I tried something new! Both the salad and fish surprised me. I'll be getting both again. The dim spots were the parking, the loudness of the patrons, the music, and the staff. I'm sensitive to sound and can easily overstimulate, so you'll be fine if you don't have these problems. Also, it was probably not the best date night locale, as the cutest little boy loudly sang and climbed over the bench behind my sweetie's head most of the night. I love the service at the restaurant and yesterday was no exception but when the manager, Mr. Steven Cunningham saw me, he personally took time to make sure my order was placed and even offered me a glass of tea because (as a regular customer) he could see I'd had a long day. It's easy to find good food all over the DMV but when you find it coupled with Good Service it's always an added bonus. So drinks refills were sparse. She did save me from the meatloaf choice which I appreciated. She was very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. The ambiance was dark and very dim lighting. The noise level was pretty loud as well. The food was just okay. The Jalapeño Serrano cornbread was dry and lacked spiciness sadly. The crab dip was decent. 7 medallions of bread are not enough imo. The Caesar salad was decent, but confused. It had bell pepper on it which didn't add anything. It also came with cornbread (also dry) I went with the Cajun Pasta with chicken. Came here for a birthday dinner and was overall satisfied. Host was super friendly and seated us quick(it was a random Tuesday so honestly it was expected). I dont care for how dark copper canyon can be - i guess it's supposed to be romantic? Idk but i struggled because I needed more light. They did have live music so that was nice. Our actual server was not very friendly but wasnt rude either. She was efficient and got the job done. Now lets get to the food: I ordered Ribs, bacon mac n cheese, greens and coleslaw. Ribs were not baby back but tender and are more on the sticky side (which is my preference). Collard Greens were surprisingly good! They were not swimming in juice like most places and were seasoned very well Coleslaw was dry. Bacon mac n cheese was the best thing I had. Cheesey, rich, creamy. Delightfully under new management AND IT SHOWS!!!! We had a wonderful lunch experience from the time we walked through the door. We were promptly and respectfully seated. The young man who sat us was very mannerly and respectful. We were promptly greeted by our server Kennedi. The food was very good and the service was great, something that is hard to find these days. . I got the fish and chips and my husband got the salmon which was cooked perfectly to his liking. The drinks were very good. I liked the teamwork I saw there, servers helping each other . Dirty dishes were removed from the table after we finished our meal.(a real plus for me). Well... well...well.. where do I start. I would really give this place 3.5 stars but I can't. Let's start with the good stuff. The ambiance is really nice here. It's makes a great venue for girls night, family time, date night, happy hour and so much more. I love the LIVE music. (It can be very noisy in here..fyi) I also loved the menu it was very creative. Now, the not so great stuff. Well parking can be a bummer depending on what time you come. Also there could be a wait time (40 mins and up depending) My waiter seemed very busy so he couldn't really tend to us properly. We waited a very long time to get drinks and food (20 mins for drink ...over 30 mins for the food) my waiter was not customer friendly. The food!!! Big portions (which was nice) but needed major flavor!! My shrimp We're undercooked ! My pasta was very dry , needed more sauce / dressing. Salt / pepper or seasoning in general was needed badly. My food tasted so bland and that was a shame. I had high hopes for this place. The price is a little up there but it's to be expected. (Not complaining just letting you all know.)
