I have a love-hate relationship with this U-Haul and with U-Haul in general…read more 1) I like buying weird shaped boxes and packing supplies here for shipping my Ebay stuff. They're pretty expensive. But they aren't as expensive as The UPS Store. I can get all of these things cheaper on-line at U-Line but I'd have to order big quantities. So I go to U-Haul for weird boxes like "plant" boxes, "golf club" boxes, and "flat screen TV" boxes. On the other hand... When they run out of something, they're in no big hurry to re-order. And many times, they seem completely oblivious that they're out of something. And it takes weeks to replenish. 2) I like the trailer rentals. I think the rates are very reasonable and I've rented many times. On the other hand... I'm irritated that they have no one-way trailer rentals. You have to return it back to the original location. Bummer. 3) The vehicle rentals are super expensive and I wouldn't rent one under any circumstances unless I was really, really desperate. The day rate (in BIG letters) seems fair but the mileage rate (in small letters) makes renting very expensive. I always drive all the way to Columbia Heights Rental if I have to rent a big truck with no mileage fees. Lord help you if you need to rent a truck and drive across the United States! 4) I like all of the front line staff. They always seem really cool and to know their jobs well. On the other hand... The manager never smiles, always has a scowl, and he looks like he's gonna bust someone in the nose at any minute. I'm not sure what this is all about. Maybe that's why all of the staff always seem so quiet and reserved! Maybe they're scared of him. I actually got him to bust a smile the last time I saw him though. :-) 5) Finally, I think the storage rental thing is pretty good. I have a good friend who rents one and I took a whole day helping him move into it last summer. -Daddy Maxx Retro

Reserved a truck with them for a day (24 hrs). Came in to the reservation being for only 4 hours…read more The owner said we were wrong and they were right. He pulled up the recording of the call, which took almost 30 minutes extra of our time to prove us wrong, but it proved us right. He did extended it to the end of their business hours (an extra 6 hours), but it was still short and a pain for us to rush the move. Overall his staff was decent to us, but he was very rude and crass to my older father, and I, who had done everything right. Would highly recommend avoiding them if you can.

UPDATE‼ I have received ZERO communication from Idris about reimbursement…read more *DO NOT HIRE THESE MOVERS!* I will update this post as soon as I speak with Idris tomorrow, June 20th, 2022. I am currently in a dispute with this moving company that I hired two weeks ago on June 1st, 2022. The movers dropped my electric sofa recliner and tried hiding it from me. I saw them drop it and so did another witness. They called the owner Idris and he told me to look for someone to fix it and they would cover the charge. I was unable to find anyone to fix it and I had spent two weeks trying to get a hold of the company by phone call, voicemail, text, and email. Not until I started leaving bad reviews did Idris call me yesterday to speak of the matter. Now, the movers are denying dropping my couch and Idris won't give me the information to his insurance company. My apartment is willing to provide video footage to defend my claims but I need to file a police report. I went to file a police report on Friday and because it's a civil case and not criminal they suggest that I take Idris to small claims court. I spoke to him Friday afternoon and I let him know that I have no intrest in going to court but seeking reimbursement for my couch. I clarified that if he didn't cooperate then I would take him to court and file a claim for not only my couch, but for other damaged property including damaged to the laminate floor. After refusing to give me his insurance information and gaslighting me, meaning he said he'd reimburse me the initial day I spoke to him then had a family emergency and didn't get back to me until two weeks after the incident in where he told me that his employees told him the couch was already damaged then refused to provide information on his insurance. On Friday afternoon he then said he can give me the information but he's trying to make it easier on me. In conclusion, Idris finally said he'd reimburse me for the couch that was damaged by his employees. He said he'd call me June 20, 2022 with his insurance and money for reimbursement.

Nasty estimator-…read more Just got off the phone with this company, and I am stunned at the outright disrespect I encountered. From the moment I asked a question, the representative snapped into a rude, condescending tone as if I dared inconvenience him by simply existing. Honestly, with an attitude like his, he could only be a third-party estimator--because he certainly lacked any professionalism or basic customer service skills. When I pointed out that their pricing was double that of other quotes, he had the audacity to laugh and snidely remark, "Well, if you want your stuff damaged, go with them." That kind of arrogance is not only insulting but completely unjustified. Lower pricing does not automatically mean incompetence or damage. Let's be clear: I explained, in the simplest of terms, that it was just one hour of moving. But no, their inflated minimum is two guys for two hours--$550 for a single hour's work! At that price, I might as well keep them around for an extra hour to scrub my truck and clean the bathroom so they could at least pretend to earn their outrageous fee. And then came the pièce de résistance: the smug boast of "26 years in business." Frankly, if this kind of treatment is their standard, those 26 years are 26 too many. Based on the fabricated-looking reviews plastered across other platforms, it's clear they've been relying on fluff and deception instead of real customer satisfaction. This isn't a business--it's a scam with a phone number. They don't deserve your time, your money, or your patience. Avoid them like the plague.

The GOOD: The moving crew were on-time, courteous, detailed, and got right to work. the move out…read moreprocess was smooth and efficient, as was the move in process at my next building. the crew leader did all he could to ensure a smooth experience. The BAD: the final piece of furniture, a dining room table, was brought in and when unwrapped the leg on the table was visibly damage. wood splintered and the leg was completely detached from the table. the leg was clear bashed into something with clear force for it to have completely broken away from the table. the mover who brought the table in denied knowing what happened; however, the table had to have broken in between the truck, elevator and being brought into my apartment. the crew leader immediately dismissed the crew and got to work on contacting the company to help place a claim. The UGLY: I have moved over 20 times in the past 25 years and am well-versed in things that can happen during a move - broken glasses, nicked and scratched furniture, etc. I have never had a piece of furniture be so BADLY DAMAGED during a move, especially a move that was 6 blocks. My frustrations with Good Stuff Moving really boiled over when speaking with their claims department. I did not opt for the extra insurance, so they were only willing to reimburse be for $0.60/lb for my table or $138. Additionally, I felt the claims agent was very dismissive of the gross negligence by the team member and was unwilling to have anyone comeback out and remove the table, as it cannot be repaired and is garbage. I never got a sense from this company that they were interested in "making this right" or going above and beyond at any level. I paid good money for the move and am out now an additional $3k for the table + costs to have it now removed + replaced with a new table. Think twice before hiring this company or at the least MAKE SURE YOU OPT IN for the extra insurance. read the fine print - my very expensive mistake!
