I arrived at 5:45pm and there was no one waiting. I told them I wanted to remove SNS and then get a regular manicure. They started to soak off my nails and everything up to this point was ok. Other people began to come in so they left me to soak for 45 mins!! You may be wondering why I didn't just leave.. my nails were covered in cotton balls and acetone and I didn't want to have to find somewhere else to go and then wait some more. I was also very tired and at this point I know I'm not coming back here again! The lady comes back and then proceeds to do my nails . She is rushing and leaves polish on my skin and at this point she leaves before I can even say anything. I didn't know how when I first came inside they were like confused like I'm standing there waiting for someone to decide they want to do my nails. I went to this establishment on my birthday. Honestly I was in the area for an oil change. Elaine did my pedicure. She was professional and did a great job. i really hate leaving poor reviews especially since the nail tech was so nice but it doesn't change the fact that this was probably the messiest gel manicure i've ever gotten. i also watched her use the exact same tools she used on the person before me without cleaning/disinfecting them. in addition, two people who were there when i first arrived came back to the shop to get their manicures fixed so if that doesn't tell you all you need to know idk what will. really wanted to like this place... would not recommend. read more

She had a moderate hand, she accidentally cut me with her drill on my cuticle but aside from that she was nice and did a great job. Very convenient location to me and there's parking in the back. I've been going here for about a year until recently I noticed that the person who usually does my nails(Tommy) was always unavailable every time I called to make an appointment . His sister Tiffany would answer and state that Tommy was too busy and had no availability. After multiple attempts, something told me that they weren't being truthful and for whatever reason was rejecting my business but I needed proof. I decided to call one last time on 7/5/24 to see if Tommy was available and once again I was given the run around. I even asked, did he just not want my business? But Tiffany vehemently denied that was the case. I had a friend call shortly after requesting the same services from Tommy, and she was instantly offered an appointment. Tiffany told her Tommy had availability the same day and even the next day. This entire time, I'd been given the run around simply because they did not want to service me. As previously mentioned, I have been a well paying customer for over a year and to be treated like this is unwarranted and disrespectful. I truly feel discriminated against. I'm curious as to how many others they've done this to? Businesses like this should be reported to the Nassau County Human Rights Commission and BBB, which I plan to do. read more

FIVE STARS!!!! I was dying to find a new nail place, I was very unhappy with the nail salon I have been going to because they weren't as updated with the styles as others. I found this gem on Yelp and later found out this is where a friend of mine also goes. I called, made and appointment and was seated within 5 mins of being there. I asked for a new set and showed the nail tech a picture of the pink I wanted. She mixed 2 colors to make the color I wanted and I was so happy! It came out perfect. I wanted stones and she gladly did them. I LOVE my nails and I haven't been this happy with my nails in a very long time. I was looking for a nail salon that would do a good job with the newer styles as many of the nail salons in the area are outdated. I decided to give Cool Nails a try despite the bad reviews in regards to customer service. I started with a pedicure, the lady (sorry didn't get her name) was nice but cut me twice and made me bleed. I'm not sure if she's new or just had a bad day but for obvious reasons I didn't like that. Hence the 4 stars. My nails were done by Ken. He was very informative and helpful, I do think he was a bit annoyed at me because my hands tense up when someone is touching them so it makes it harder for him to work, I get it, but as I told him it's an involuntary reaction lol I can't help that. Anyway, the overall experience was good, I absolutely LOVE the way my nails came out and I will be returning in a couple of weeks. PS. Been coming here for over 2 years now & they're the BEST. They can do designs, they have so many colour options, they even do colour changing gel nail polish. You'll have problems deciding on what you want as they offer so much. I only go to Tiffany so make an appointment if you want her & want some designs. They do get really busy on weekends and Friday night. So go early weekdays to be seen quickly. I got a pedicure, new acrylic set, and eyebrow waxing. All Completely happy with the work done. They pay attention to detail and customer satisfaction. A very friendly atmosphere. They do great work, I am very particular to the point where they say "I know how you like it". I came in with a photo- Lee matched their color and went above and beyond to make the glitter looked even better than the photo. This review is long overdue but Tiffany and Ken are my go-to manicurists. I no longer live in Baldwin but I still trek the 40 minutes to get my nails done by them. The salon gets pretty busy on weekends so I suggest calling in and making an appointment. Other than that, it's your pretty standard experience. Go in, pick a color and bam you're getting your nails done. However, they must be doing some kind of witchcraft because my nails last FOREVER when I get them done here- both gel and regular mani. I can go two weeks with a regular manicure (not chipping) and around 3.5 with gel. Highly recommend! read more

Last time I went and showed a picture of what I wanted, and they came put so much better than I expected! This time it was no different. I told her I wanted to switch up the colors and it came out even better than I could've hoped! I got designs highs times and the jewels DID NOT BUDGE. Very refreshing change compared to other shops where the jewels fall out within a couple of days or a week. My nails were pushing 3 weeks and they still looked vibrant and new. The compliments kept coming and so will I. UPDATE:three weeks later my nails are still on, no gems have fallen off, and they are still shiny and glimmering. If you are thinking about coming- do it. The woman Sunny did a pretty good job on my nails which is the only reason why I gave this place 2 stars. Update: 7/2017... Went back because hey... Not everyone is great on the first visit. Mannnnn never again. Nothing got better - worse actually. I was passed around and argued about for an uncomfortable ass 15-20 mins over damn chrome vs. hologram. I can't bring myself to come back in here. This is a long one!!!!! While scouting the area my new boo lives in for staple hair/nail/brow etc places (I will be frequenting the area) this was my 2nd choice next to a place where an appointment was necessary. I was able to walk in at 10:00 and get my services going. Here are the good and bad: Good - Close to the train and easy to find. Bad - Good luck parking (a serious peeve of mine) I walk in and ask for fill with design, regular pedi, and lashes. Good - Prices are listed on the wall, my fill was $25 with gel polish (base), lashes $25 and pedi $15. Reasonable for sure. Until we discussed a design... Bad - When I asked for examples of the lashes (before and after) she gave me the deer in headlights look. "You don't have any before and after pictures to show clients?- me "no. We don't do that." Before we started the design my tech looked at me in the eye and said "oookkk.... before I start I will give you the price" Good - I appreciate the makeshift consultation and discussion before the specialty services begin. Bad - An additional $28 for the simple designs I requested seemed steep. I asked how much for pedi to make sure - she said $15 for basic. I had two other services that she COULD have upsold me on so I figure let me reason with her. Me- "can we do both for $70 cash and I will stay for the lashes.NO DISCOUNT" was her reply... ($@&8&$ bihhh I ain't ask for no mova flipping discount!) the fact my negotiation was taken as me asking for a discount was offensive to me. Yes, there is a difference. So I asked her... ok sooo what would a set with design look like for $65 between the fill and pedi? I am paying cash and you guys offer lower prices for cash (what in the gas station price difference kind of operation?????.. touché I prefer cash too.) Good - She half way thought about it and came with a solution. Bad - Her solution was to tell me she would either do 2 chrome or 2 with stones. Me- so you can't do a mix, one chrome? Or two chrome and one stone? I'm taking an entire design away...huh? Her - NO either or. Me - so I can't get one chrome finger? (Messing with her and entertaining myself at this point). She continues to try to explain what I already knew to be ridiculous. I dropped it and said never mind, just do what we agreed on, strongly considering canceling my pedi as well. - note - I won't argue, I just won't come back. I realize a lot of ladies come in and haggle and it may be hard to tell the difference between asking for a discount (the nerve) and nickel and dime haggle. Que Sara, I suppose. Pedi went quick, $5 more for French and I had to tell my pedi lady to put more than one swipe of white at the top of my toes. That ain't it boo. Few more swipes so we can all leave happy. Over all: Personable customer service is important to me, I could have surely expected to pay over double for the one service if I were offered some water or not felt rushed to make a decision on my design. At LEAST had some reference work to choose from (thank you Yelp for having pictures I could show her of the work their shop has done *lost face emoji*)That lost them a star. The other star evaporated knowing I could have done this at the same level of customer service and compatible cleanliness at my spot in Bed-Stuy. I need a reliable nail tech that can see me every 2.5 ish weeks when I am in NY. Disappointment in feeling like I have to sacrifice service for quality completely dissolved the 2nd star. Something told me to just go to BK today. Smh. I'd come back reluctantly, for the designs and walk in convenience and location (without my car). read more

I decided on a regular nail polish instead of gel and they charged me $2.00 extra for using my card. Allegedly everyone who pays with a card is subject to a 2.00 fee. I paid a total of 22.00 for a fill in . Lastly she insisted she would put lotion on after my color dried. Before I left she did not want to put any oil or lotion for me.
