The signs lured me in! What a neat place!! You can look forever, there is so much to see and it takes you back to a special moment in your life. The food was great too. Spicy cheese curds were a great appetizer. I then had the chicken fried steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. All were delicious! Since I live in east Texas, I won't be able to come to Cook's Garage often, but when I come back to Lubbock, I'll eat here again! Our waitress was very busy, but she did a great job. Cook's Garage is a popular concert venue in Lubbock, TX. I checked off my bucket list item of watching Willie Nelson live (4/17/2024). What a musical artist! It was a sold-out event. Yep, I definitely smelled pot in the air. Coleman Jennings and his band opened. Followed by Ty Myers. General admission for two was $156.92. A bag full of ice and 6 Coors Lights plus a Jack and coke was just under $46. Ladies... clear bag policy only. I carry a pocketknife even when I wear dresses. Leave those in the car. Things I'd do differently... - bring more cash... Willie t-shirts were $40 each. - haul my own foldout lawn chair or... - pay for VIP tickets - not clean my Jeep before parking in the literal farm field... LOL (parking is included in GA ticket) TIPS + Find the alcohol band table BEFORE you try to buy booze. So many folks were turned away from buying alcohol because they didn't do this. Maybe they should rethink their entrance to include this when they checkin & go through "security." + I heard they started requiring folks to use the Event Brite app to have their tickets scanned which I used flawlessly. The food was good, but the service is why you go to cook's. Something weird happened while we were there and the staff went above and beyond for my family. I can't speak highly enough. The waitresses at Cook's Garage make that establishment what it is. If I'm ever in the area again, I will go back just for the people. To say that I am impressed is an understatement. If this place ain't a "honkytonk" then I don't know what is. Loved the atmosphere here, however, the kitchen was closed prior to my arrival. I would recommend the live musicians should play longer and the kitchen stay open later. Otherwise, awesome place. Can't wait to go back, next time I'm in Lubbock. read more

Great stop along west Texas highways. We give it 5 stars for ambience, novelty, Americana and the very warm, happy friendly staff including the "boss" lady who opened the gift shop to us just so that we could choose souvenir T-shirts in our size(s). Great photo ops and wonderful signs for car enthusiasts and even casual tourists like me. What a nice find! Loved all the signs, vehicles and decor. Between the 4 of us we had 2 ribeye dinners, a chicken fried dinner and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The men raved about the steaks being the most tender they'd ever had and quite flavorful. My chicken fried chicken was perfectly cooked and tender and was served with mashed potato and cream gravy. It was excellent. The Philly Cheesesteak was average. Not much meat on there but tasty my friend said. The fried onions were good that she ordered but the coating was not real crispy. Our server was very good keeping our drinks full. The chairs were not the most comfy but they fit in with the decor. Don't go for the food. Really an awesome concept with a car-centric vibe. Lots of neon signs, a few old automobiles, and old oil company signs, etc. Execution was lack luster at best in the dining area. Food and trash on the floor, food and service sub par. Hardly anyone there on a Friday night. No beer or spirit list which made ordering much more effort than it needed to be. It leads me to believe the main focus might be the larger concerts and events. Best Sirloin and 2 sides in the Lubbock area. I eat there at least once a week and I can't say any thing negative about Cooks. The prices are also much less than most steak houses. Unfortunately I had an awful first experience at Cook's Garage as I was wearing a Mexican logo shirt... the bartender was extremely rude towards me and my girlfriend. When ordered the drinks, my beer was warm and the service was completely disgusting and sad to see such restaurant being racist towards his clients. It sadness's me that such place could still be open, not the first time I witness such treatment at Cook's Restaurant, other times when ordering food since my accent to speak English is "hard to understand " when I shower my ID and they saw I was legal of age to drink plus have 2 last names they kept asking me personal questions. As if I had to answer them in order to peacefull drink a beer! Like for real? I hope this place closes down or something as they are racist and rude towards clients/customers. read more
