What a great group. First just amazing support and courtesy and out of the box thinking. I have an old window system in my apartment and was trying to find a solution to fix what I had and I called 4 places. 3 of them just said no to me and would be wiling to sell new windows with no more conversation. When I called I was asked my need politely and was told she wasn't sure but would transfer me to someone who might know. I was transferred to Bryan, and he heard me out asked a couple of questions and worked with me on options. It was amazing, I asked if I could come in and he made time for me while knowing that I was probably not going to be a customer. When I arrive he comes and looks at my problem give me options. Then calls over his Dad (LOL I didn't know he was the son and owner of the company) and they both share options and try to solve it. We replaced all of our windows, and interior/exterior doors during a recent remodel and had a great experience working with Pam. We loved that she was quick to share suggestions and best practices (we were looking at an 80 inch slider and she pushed us to an 84 - and we are glad we did). She's a pro and shares her knowledge. She was also organized and patient. Our window sizes changed multiple times during the purchasing process and Pam was quick to update. Our windows are now installed and paid for and she continues to accommodate us. We needed a replacement part and Pam organized to have the part delivered to our house within a week at no charge. I worked with Bryan who was very helpful and knowledgeable. The problem was that the window came defective. The wood under the bay window was placed right under the handle, so the handle wouldn't be able to move to open the window. My contractor had to remove the wood and place it in the correct place, under the window (picture below of the correct placement after the work was done). This cost me about two hours of time from my contractor. I let the store know, but they never responded to me. I was going to use them for the rest of the windows in my house, but now I'm not planning to. read more

This is probably the worst experience I have had with any company in quite some time. Between myself and my boyfriend, whom I recommended to Cooks, we spent a decent chunk of change and I have been treated very poorly. Here are things to consider if you are considering using Cooks for your window needs: 1. I'm not sure if it is because I am female or what but my customer service has been exceptionally bad. I was not kept up to date with any of the order process and had to continually reach out for updates. I was completely in the dark as to what was happening, I had to ask what's next, what do I do now, how does this work. It was very bad. 2. I have no experience with Windows and doors I had no idea what I was doing. Cooks recommended an installer who came out and took measurements and sent all the info for what I needed to Cooks. This information I signed off on for the final order expecting everything to be fine. When the windows came and were installed, they had ordered my patio door backwards. So instead of sliding open to the left, it now slides open to the right. Due to the floorplan of my condo, this is awkward. And I was told could not be fixed as it was in the end my own fault for not recognizing this on the order, and signing off on it. That was a 1500$ mistake on my part. 3. The installer recommended by Cooks was Flores Windows and Doors. See point 2 above. I trusted that they took all the appropriate measurements and wrote down all the details and yet I was wrong in that. They broke a picture frame. And they lost a screen and then tried to tell me that it was "stolen" out of their truck that was parked in my gated, secure garage. Which is ridiculous. I was told that the owner would go back to Cooks and inquire about this screen. 4. It has now been 3 months and I had to follow up and was told by the installer that I needed to reach out to cooks. When I did this, I was treated as a inconvenience. The bottom line is that these people are not friendly. I will say that the price was the only thing I felt was ok but apparently that price is so low that good customer service is not included. Just beware if you choose Cooks. It's a shame really. I prefer to support local businesses but experiences like this really just piss me off. read more

Re: Milgard Case Number: 04903777 Joel at Cook's organized the service call with Milgard. The fellow did come and service the door and window. He had to replace a seal on a set of French doors. In fact, he took the french doors off the hinges and readjusted them, and changed the seal of course. It seems that my original contractor did a half-@ss job in hanging them. So he did a great job. Our general contractor told us to buy a front door and recommended the brand. We looked on the manufacturer's website and decided on the door, and needed a supplier. We came to Cook's based on Yelp. They have a showroom that can give you a good idea, but they don't have samples of every single thing they sell (not sure that anybody really does). We are that type of indecisive homeowners, so when we had to decide on the glass pattern to go in the door panels, we went back to the website and clicked on more images. When we narrowed it down to three glass patterns, Cook's lent us the glass samples so we could imagine the patterns in our own house. The back of the showroom has displays of quality doorknobs and cabinet pulls like Emtek (made in California), Baldwin, and Ashley Norton, which is nice to be able to see the actual colors and turn the doorknobs. I saw window samples in the showroom too, but our general contractor has those already. They are laid back (don't push the products) and leave a lot to your own preference and style, and it looks like they carry good quality brands, or at least the brands that our contractor recommends. Note that some of their products are only created when you order them, so those orders cannot be changed once they are sent to the manufacturer. I wanted dutch doors and found THE GUY to install them (thanks Alex) and THE DOORS from Cooks. Bryan came in way under price for what I was looking at from other vendors for the same TM Cobb doors. I was able to communicate with him effectively by phone and email. He even called me back on Friday night at 5:30. I always appreciate somebody willing to get something done instead of waiting till Monday. I've not used Cook's Doors and Windows BUT I was so impressed with my phone call to David that I told him I'd Yelp him. I called a few days ago and asked if the company sold the specific brand of windows I need for my condo and David said no. He was honest, a good listener and didn't try to get me to change my mind and to buy one of the products his store sells instead, which I appreciated greatly. Further, I told him the price I had been quoted by another company that does have the windows and the particulars of service offered. Again, he didn't try to make me change my plans and told me, which I respect, that the price I was quoted was a good price and without saying it, implied that I should go for it. I have had the absolute worst service from Cooks. Throughout the ordering process they gave me wrong information, one day calling me and telling me that if I didn't submit the order in the next 2 hours all of my quoted prices would go up. Then, they told me I had to make a change to my order (which it turns out, I didn't) and then tried to get me to pay the change order fee. it was very stressful. Once the windows were finally delivered they came without window screens, which I am still trying to get them to give me. I call every few days and no one ever resolves my issue or calls me back. One of the brand new windows is also broken already and Cooks is not helping me get a service technician from Milgard. The minute they got my money they have disappeared. One of their employees was straight up rude and hung up on me. The others just give me the run around and never call me back. I am so frustrated and disappointed especially since I spent $$$$ on windows with them. Absolutely will not use in the future. read more

We recently purchased 4 windows, 2 sliding glass doors, and 4 skylights from Cook's for our small single family home. We had so many problems with both the customer service and quality control. Here they are listed: * The custom 12' wide Milgard OXXO door they sent had scratches and irregularities in the powder coating, gaps in the seal around the glass, and the doors were uneven. There was no Quality Control to check the order was in good condition before leaving Cook's. We notified Cook's on Feb 25, 2019 and have waited more than a month for service. * They sent the incorrect flashing kits for the (4) Velux skylights. When the correct flashing came in, they wanted us to pick them up. They finally acquiesced and delivered them to us. This all could have been resolved if Cook's checked the order to make sure it was correct before sending it out for delivery. To resolve this issue, it took many emails and phone calls. We ultimately had to delay installation of our skylights because we didn't have the right flashing. * Door hardware for the 5' XO door was not included. We have been contacting Cook's for over a month to receive the missing pieces. Spotty responses with no one to 'close' the issue for us in a timely manner. We can't lock our house because of the missing hardware. Not safe for me or my family. This is a disappointing review to write because the ordering process was very smooth and professional. We loved Cook's on the day we wrote the check. However, once we paid for the windows, their service diminished to the point of frustration, plus lots of time and money wasted as we waited around for them. read more

Three windows and door arrived a week later than promised. They gave me a delivery date to get my business, then delivered way late, screwing up a remodelling job. I ended up having to drive 3 hours round trip to the Milgard factory to pick up some of the order. Not professional. If you cannot deliver on a given date, don't say you can. We've been needing new windows for years, but didn't even look into them because we figured it would cost a fortune. Thank goodness I contacted Cook's just to see what they would cost. They were a lot less than we had expected, so we decided to replace them all (29). We are so thrilled that we did! Jim Cook was so helpful. They already knew what the requirements were in our city and dealt with the city directly for permits. The installer came and took all the measurements so Cook's could give us an accurate quote. When the windows were ready, the installer came and replaced them all in a matter of days. (In January, pre-COVID). There was no plastering involved - the old ones came out and the new ones went in. And there was no mess. The new windows are such a pleasure! They operate so smoothly, look great, and they came already painted (we got a choice of colors). Plus they are double paned so our house stays warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Also, they can pivot in and down to wash the outside from the inside. No window washer needed for upstairs anymore. I highly recommend Cook's if you're thinking about new windows! read more

I needed new windows and I called around acouple of places and got some quotes, but Cook's was by far the most affordable and helpful. Please note that they DO NOT istall the windows, they just supply the windows. They do however recomend local general contractors to install them, I had Carl Newton, who by the way was an absolute pro with his install, clean up and the amount of time he took to install the new windows.
