Highly recommend for Door installations, really knows his stuff! Luis and his team did an excellent job, and consistently went the extra mile. They expertly drilled and hung my new modern front door ("blank" mahogany wood, purchased through Home Depot and installed in a pre-existing frame), including a Schlage Encode smart lock. He had all the right equipment to shave it on the sides, and the door hangs perfectly open midway. They installed 2 spring hinges to auto-close, plus weatherstripping, and when there was a small issue with the weatherstripping, he came back two weeks later free of charge and swapped out for an alternative solution. As a bonus, when I asked him for guidance regarding an unrelated window situation and was prepared to pay him to help me solve it, he immediately diagnosed why the window was stuck: the wood windowsill had swollen and was pressing against the window frame, causing the window to not slide easily. He removed the window and helped me repair the situation: something others wanted to charge hundreds of dollars to diagnose and fix! (And he later said "no charge".) Furthermore, as he moved through my house, he happened to notice that some of my inside-door hinges had popped up: told me what causes that, and told me HOW to easily fix it. (PLUS, why I would be smart to tap them down with a hammer myself instead of ignoring it.) Just because he's a nice guy. The man has an eye for door issues, and he is very generous in spirit. He seems to like what he does and genuinely cares about the customer. The cost he quoted over the phone for installing the front door and weatherstripping is exactly what he charged. There were no surprises. And just as importantly, for me: he was able to fit me in on a tight timeline so that I could coordinate with my painter and other contractors to meet the ideal overall project schedule I needed. Luis installed my MESHTEC security screen door AND adjusted one that I had previously installed by a different door installer. Firstly, he was on time (actually early!). Secondly, he was very knowledgeable about the doors. Not every person we called was familiar with the MESHTEC doors from Home Depot and he seemed to know a lot. We've had 3 different installers come and install our security screen doors and of the 3, Luis was the only one who filled the empty space where the shims were installed, with caulking. I reached out to Luis at Handy Door Man for some help replacing an old, weather beaten INTERIOR door and jamb leading from the garage to the patio. Not sure what genius decided to install an interior door for outside use but it had to go. When I texted him my situation, he quickly responded with a flat fee detailing what was covered, which is everything except painting. He even offered to pick up a door from a big box store for a modest fee. His rate was fair, and considering he was highly recommended by the masses inside my little computer screen, I committed. Considering this was a last minute request in the afternoon, I was impressed he was able to squeeze me in the very next day. That morning, Ricardo and Carlos showed up ready to knock this door out. They were probably already informed, but my situation was a little different as I did not have a proper door sill for the threshold of the door to sit on as the previous owners had filled a small area in front of the garage side door with concrete to match the height of the new patio. But that was no problem for Ricardo. He explained in detail what he was going to do to create the height, and instead of cutting down the door and jamb, we decided to cut the stucco and move the header up a few inches to allow for a full size door. Once he had his measurements, drops cloths placed, and tools ready, they quickly removed the old jam and opened up the top of the wall on both sides with great precision to avoid any unnecessary stucco work. Before I knew it, the new door had been installed and they were installing hardware. From my point of view, I could see the expansion foam and flashing they installed, as well as the various shims to align everything. Once all trim and caulking had been done, and final testing of the door and hardware was completed, he asked if I had any questions. These guys were very efficient, clean, and mindful of their working environment, being careful not to knock things over, or generating excessive debris when using power tools. Between the brooms, vacuum, drop cloths, and blower, I had very little if any cleaning to do. Not only did they install my new door quickly, they also set me up to success after I plan to patch the drywall around the door by only placing one nail per piece of door casing (for easy removal when patching). As they were cleaning up, I mentioned a sticking door issue for my main entrance door, and he quickly resolved that issue too. They went above and beyond, and for this and the aforementioned reasons, I recommend Handy Door Man for your next door project! Give them a call - you won't be disappointed. read more

AMAZING AMAZING!!! We bought new doors and getting someone to come hang them and make the needed adjustments was a nightmare! Half the "door guys" on the list the door store gave us wanted insane prices to hang them, or just would not return our calls. One had us wait 3 weeks for him to come, before bailing out 2 days before the due date. We finally hired a handyman who then ruined one of our doors... ground up the area it locks..Put in weird padding...cut it uneven. I had to chase him out of the house after 1 door when we needed 3+ done. So I finally start sifting around yelp and decided to call handy door man. I had skipped over him originally because I though for sure he would be too expensive for our budgets when I saw the pics. These guys have such reasonable rates and do very clean detail focused work. Ignacio and his assistant came out and fixed our ruined door, trimmed door that was the wrong thickness for the space (I bought an indoor door when I needed an outdoor door for this enclosed patio space), and hung another heavy door for my bathroom. Any bit of light showing they spotted on their own and were willing to refine and fix. Hardware was installed cleanly without damage, and they were just very nice and considerate guys. We had one double door that needed to be replaced and another door that needed some work as well. We were very happy with the work that was done. For starters we thought one of our doors needed to be replaced completely, but during our consultation we were told that we could use the same door and the frame is what needed to be worked on to get rid of the terrible gaps that were there before. I always appreciate when someone is honest with what actually needs to be done, even though they could've made more money by replacing the entire door. I felt that the response time, turnaround time, and communication was great. The work was done a lot quicker than what other companies were estimating me at, but still done with good quality.
