Crenshaw Doors and Windows is related to Crenshaw Lumber but is located across the train tracks over Western. My friend didn't know and neither did I! We visited Crenshaw Lumber to look at doors and windows and were told to come here instead.
Here, we met Fred and through my friend's millions of questions, I learned a lot about patio doors (folding, sliding, swinging) and different types of windows (casement, sliders, picture, garden etc), and materials (vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass). It sounded like Milgard Tuscany was the way to go for budget-friendly folks, and that Marvin or La Cantina doors can run 5 digits high, which is necessary for those multi-million homes with gorgeous views.
I noticed that they had a wall of baseboards and casing from El & El Wood Products. I did not know that baseboards or crown molding come in so many different varieties.
After Fred retreated to his "office" in the back, which was separated from his neighbor by a Milgard Tuscany sliding door, we were free to roam around upstairs to check out door hardware. I saw a lot of Baldwin and Emtek. There was a conference room upstairs.
There's a ton packed into this two-story space. Parking is around back and so is the entrance, which isn't super intuitive given Western is a very busy street.
Total hearsay: my friend said that his contractor told him that the will call at this place is not good and that Ganahl's is impeccable.
When I was tagging along this trip, I thought I would see some solid front doors for ideas to replace my very sun-bleached front door, but this place mostly sells patio doors and windows (glass + frame products).
All good though. read more
