We called in advance to get a table for 5 and were told that we could easily get a table after 8:30pm and could show up as early as 8:15pm. No reservation required at that time. We showed up at 8:25 pm and were told it was too late to get a table!!!!!! We love their food, have never actually eaten there and was hoping to try it tonight. Everything on the cookbook menu is great. I CRAVE the clam linguine, but the spaghetti squash bolognese, the grey goose pasta, are all great choices. The mushroom ravioli is rich but delicious. The pizza's are all solid (my dad loves the flying pig!) and the starters are pretty consistent. I recommend the Meyer lemon salad and the summer/winter caprese! read more

I've been to every restaurant in Ketchum and I have to tell you that I've never been to this one previously. I can tell you what a grave is mistake that I have made because the service and food at this restaurant by far the best I ever experienced. I have tried to order from Cookbook on multiple occasions, but they never have the capacity to handle to go orders. I finally ordered online ahead of time and was called about 15 mins prior to pickup where they told me they didn't have the items for half my order. I ordered at 3:30pm & pickup was for 6pm. My family usually likes to have one nice dinner on our vacations, and for this trip we chose to go to Cookbook. Thank god we did. The staff here were super nice and welcoming. They made sure to explain the menu and were willing to make accommodations with food restrictions. I got the Spaghetti Squash with Bolognese as my entrée, and the Habiki Shot as a dessert. My Spaghetti Squash was amazing, as the squash was cooked perfectly and the bolognese was seasoned well and full of meat. They also gave me the perfect portion. My dessert was also definitely worth getting. It was a small serving of dark chocolate pudding, made with a little bit of Japanese whiskey, and sea salt on the top. With a price of only $23 for my whole dinner, I 10/10 recommend coming here if you are ever in Ketchum, ID. Probably one of the best dinners I have had. read more

This was our last meal before leaving Sun Valley and we are so glad we experienced Cookbook! It was very last minute as we were originally on the Resy waitlist, but one of the owners, Vita, called us the day of to inform us that a table opened up. She was incredibly kind, understanding, and patient since we had to change our party size a few times. If you're looking for an intimate dining experience, look to this place! You will feel like you're in someone's home from the moment you get out of your car. They only have ~4 tables and, therefore, the service attention is all on you. The staff is unbelievably kind, attentive, and quick! The owner, Burke, even came by a few times to check on us throughout our meal. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the restaurant and why they named it 'Cookbook'. I cannot recommend this place enough as you can clearly see the passion, love, and gratitude on everyone's faces to serve you. The food is made with love and detail and the ambiance is full of joy. There are literally shelves filled with cookbooks to keep you entertained and Burke explained to us that they actually own those cookbooks -- he gifted each one to his wife every year. Overall, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem of Sun Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed the Curry-Butternut Squash soup with their homemade bread, the Dover Sole, and the 7-layer cake to name a few. Service was friendly but pretty non-existent and slow. Pizzas looked great but did not taste great - the flying pig was super dry because it came without sauce and the margherita tasted like an average frozen pizza. Very limited drink options - just wine and sparkling water. Corn chowder soup and heart beet salads were good. Meyer salad was okay, but I expected it to be larger for the price. Mushroom ravioli was pretty good, but it came out luke warm and the sauce was incredibly thin. Roasted chicken breast entree was okay but could have used some type of sauce because it was a bit dry with the polenta side. Maybe we didn't pick the best dishes, but I would skip this place if back in the area. read more

My wife and I gave this place a try on a long weekend stay in Sun Valley. Looks like this place is pretty popular because we just showed up on a Thursday night in July, and the hostess acted like a reservation would be needed. However, she checked and there had been a cancellation, so we were seated immediately! We were not disappointed. I got the BBQ pork ribs over the mashed potatoes. It was very good. The pork fell right off the bone and the sauce was tangy and delicious. The potatoes needed a little salt, and the pork was a just a smidge too dry, but still very good. My wife loved her wild mushroom ravioli. I had a bite, and it was indeed excellent. All in all, an enjoyable meal. Would return! read more

What an fabulous experience! These guys are working so hard to make outdoor dining successful - and killing it. We had the gazpacho, olives and clams to start. These were the best clams I've ever had!!! A little bit of heat, olives and amazing fresh bread made them a show stopper. We then had the ravioli and grey goose pasta; both were incredible. Then the house dessert was this layered Ukrainian cake with sour cherries - light, not too sweet, and delicious after a big dinner....perfect. With a super approachable wine list, we had a perfect meal. The service was great and both owners engaged with us on several occasions. Could not recommend this more. I hesitate to recommend it because it is a small room and I want to keep it to myself! The owner is warm and welcoming, and sets the tone for a well-trained and caring staff. They are top notch. The food, while relatively simple, is perfectly prepared. I had the "Cyprus", grilled halloumi on a bed of sautés spinach and cherry tomatoes. I loved it. Then the "Grey Goose" pasta alla vodka with house-made sausage. Perfect al dente. Prices are very reasonable for a ski resort town. This extends to the wine list. The owner is a sommelier and had assembled a list of interesting wines of excellent value, most in $30-60 range. The room is simple and small, seating less than 30. I think that helps with the personalized service. Note: there is no valet service and on street parking is a bit limited, so you may have to walk a block. It's worth it! read more

Made a 8pm reservation and since it's a small space and sometimes people linger, they needed 10 more min to set up. So they brought out chairs to sit on the patio (was not set up for summer yet). We liked it so much we asked if we could just stay outside. Our meal was amazing- meatballs, trout, cauliflower, vodka pasta with house pork sausage and a pizza- EVERYTHING was really good. This is the first time, after many years of using Yelp, that I've felt motivated to leave a review. We picked up 2 appetizers, 2 mains, and 1 dessert from Cookbook tonight. Unfortunately, the meal did not meet our expectations based on the price and high Yelp ratings. I ordered the panko-crusted sole with parmesan risotto, tomatoes, and spinach. I received deep-fried/overcooked fish with undercooked black beans, canned artichokes, and some tomatoes and small chunks of asparagus. I really don't like artichokes, and the beans were inedible, so I picked at this meal, but didn't eat it. My feelings would be different if I had been notified about the substitution in advance and had the option to change the order. The chicken dish was the best of the items we got, as the chicken was tender and the polenta was pretty good. The grilled halloumi cheese was rubbery and not very pleasant to eat. I am not sure if this restaurant typically offers take-out, or if this is a new effort due to the pandemic, but unfortunately it was not money well spent tonight! read more

We ordered take out for our family of 6. It was ready on time and delivered right to our car in the parking lot. The food was fresh and well-made, but like a few other reviewers, I felt the serving sizes were notably small (especially for the price). The tasty pizzas were definitely "personal" size - one of my teen boys ate the entire thing in under 8 minutes. I got a very nice grain/veggie bowl (called P&G) that was almost skimpy -- even with the addition of $6 worth of spinach. Great atmosphere and food. We did lots of takeout during COVID times. Recently have visited twice in person and loved the atmosphere, people, and food. Very relaxing. Lots of great conversations with Vida (the owner who also served us) and Maryana who checked in on us as well. We learned fun stuff about each of them personally and feel like we know them. What a nice way to spend date night with great food and talking with really nice and interesting people. Our food was incredibly good (I had the Ribs and my wife had the Special Bowl). My experience was very disappointing due to our server. My husband and I ordered appetizers/ starters. The male waiter asked about our main course choices, and my husband ordered the spaghetti squash with sauce. I was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and am not sure of how foods will now affect me. So, I asked if I could let him know after I ate my beet salad. ( at that point, I didn't share my private medical issues). He said " we have a one hour turn around time with our tables, so that is not possible." My husband and I were taken aback, especially seeing the empty tables around us. I, then, said, I'm having " stomach issues" (which was none of his business) and said that I wouldn't order anything else. After that inappropriate comment from the waiter, we couldn't wait to eat and leave this establishment. I read all the raves from other reviewers...wonder how the owners feel about this. Maybe if we had purchased a bottle of wine, we wouldn't have been given a time limit for our dining...no excuse for such unwelcoming behavior. read more

Delicious food, incredibly charming atmosphere, just a lovely experience all around. We dined al fresco, shaded by an umbrella. Everyone arriving at the restaurant was greeted like an old friend and the atmosphere felt so happy and alive. The beverages were super tasty (the Furmint wine from Hungary was a revelation) and the food outstanding. We even ordered all three desserts on the menu. After making reservations online, only available for same day dining, I received a text confirming, and a phone call regarding our request. While I tend to visit my many of the same restaurants, I will add this to my list. The place is clean, and charming with numerous cookbooks as part of the decor and on one wall they were color coordinated as a rainbow. The food was delicious as I started out with a burrata and tomato caprese salad that had the best darn cheese is have ever had! Don't think this is a plain caprese salad, it was more flavorful than what you would normally expect! Our entrees included perfectly cooked scallops over risotto with prosciutto wrapped asparagus, ravioli with a wild mushroom sauce, and spaghetti squash with a fabulous bolognese sauce. Everything was incredible. The owner came out and chatted with us, and we have an outstanding dinner. read more
