The food is alright because the Cook Out menu is generally fine. I just wish they were more concerned with taking an extra few seconds to actually give the customer napkins and straws. It's a simple thing that makes or breaks the rest of the meal. When I'm driving through for a meal, I want to get through and move along. I don't want to search my bag to make sure I have what I ordered and have a straw to drink the liquid I bought. The busy Cook Out stores tend to be in too much of a hurry and I feel like I almost have to check my order before I leave. Too bad for them. Clean place. Small portions but the prices align with that. Burgers were not very hot. This was an ok meal. They may have been under some construction because of the huge empty space inside, but it was sort of irritating having to ask for every condiment we needed at the counter while the workers were trying to take and fill orders. They probably should put up a folding table with all their condiments in the empty space until they finish whatever side project they're working on. read more

I would not recommend cook out at all, this was the second time I've had cook out and to say the least I wasn't happy with it. Both times the customer service was not amazing and it was horrible trying to make an order in the drive through. This time especially I didn't enjoy it because the whole time trying to order we(my husband and I) could barely hear the person trying to take our order. He kept cutting out and was very quite. Then half way though it went quite and we had no answer when saying "hello". We assumed we'd finish at the window yet when we pulled up we were told "they can't make any changes at the window" as well as the last thing that was heard was a chicken sandwich. To prevent further altercation we just said we'd be fine with whatever was on the order. Yet all we brought home was out two trays and three drinks? No chicken sandwich.... So some how the order had been changed at the window. We had also been advise to just go back through the drive through to order anything that had been missed yet at this time it was about 12:30 at night. And yes I know it's late but when you want food you still want it made right with some understanding and without being talked down to. The food was not great either the fries were soggy and the food was moist not 5 minutes after getting it(the only one who liked the fries was my almost two yo son and he eats stale cereal he finds under his bed). For almost $20 and trying to pay bills I will never go to another cook out because it's just a waist of money and the food has never really been good. read more

We purchased a cheese burger tray and it had tomato which we did not order. As I stopped at the pickup window I handed them a $20 I was given my food and and drinks and pull away just to remember I was not given my change. I walked back to window to find the cashier had put my change in his left from pocket. This has happen to me twice at Cookout. Another employee made lite of this and just said he was just holding it for me. I don't believe this to be true. Caution everyone make sure they give you your change. read more

I've lived in the Triad for 11 years and seen the cook-out sign. Always wondered as it sounded appealing to have a burger cooked (out). Last Saturday we were running errands and looking for a place to eat. Hey why not? Well, the answer would have been the food isn't great and as my father-in-law would have said, it was filling. I had a double burger and wife a cheeseburger. Appeared the size of double burger was the same as my wife's though in two patties. Probably won't go back. Having said that, I might try them again for their shakes. Some people have told us, that's what's really good. I'm not sure. read more

Okay look guys. Here's the deal. I worked at this location for a VERY long time and recently was suspended with out pay for 2 weeks for calling out sick. As if there's not still a dangerous pandemic still happening. During this time I found a much better opportunity. And let me tell you something. If you value your health do NOT eat here. I'm serious. Let's start with contamination. Starting at the worst, I have seen, on multiple occasions, burgers dropped on the floor and still served. Same goes for every other menu item. Yuck. The grill operators will grab entire handfuls of RAW chicken patties and throw them on the grill. Then without changing gloves, will proceed to handle any and everything their hearts desire. Product is not stored properly in the walk-in cooler which runs about 50 degrees all the time. The dictator of a district manager Jason is too worried about money to get anything fixed. A friend of mine still works here (god help her). She told me that the grill recently caught fire. Once the fire extinguisher was used, the grill was just wiped off and back to business. Now for the pests. This location has problems with flies, rats, mice, roaches, you name it! Insect bait hangs above the food! Now if you can look past all of these horrible health hazards, there are other things to consider. While you wait in line to receive anything but what you ordered, you will be harassed by the University Parkway "natives". You could wait in line 45 minutes to be told that they are only selling dry BBQ and hour old fries. Not because they're out of anything, but because the managers don't feel like dealing with you. You also may be cursed at. Anyways, just save yourself. It's not worth it. There are several locations nearby and any of them are better than this garbage dump. BTW I am not using my real name to right this because I fear retaliation by upper management towards the people who still work there who I will always call my friends. Believe me, or don't. Roll the dice if you want. I just feel people should know what they're getting themselves into. read more

This is quite literally the worst cookout I have ever been to and I have been here multiple times hoping it would get better and every single time it's been S**t!!! Service is miserable about 1/3rd of the time but the other 2/3 of the folks have been VERY kind and helpful. The milk shakes are made inconsistently, some are not nearly as flavorful with the "malt" or other added items. It's almost as if when in a hurry they forget to put the proper amount in. The food is fresh tasting and never been the incorrect order! They seem to move efficiently even with crazy long lines. I do wish they had a better set up with their drive thru so traffic didn't block the road but they can't do much about that. read more

I have eaten from Cook Out many times but this experience was just average. The Cook Out on university is OK but not great They were not very crowded on my visit but I still had to wait a few minutes for them to take my order. Once I ordered and drove up to the pick up window they took my money pretty quickly . Getting my food took a while longer. I do not know why but it took almost ten minutes to get my hot dog and shake and be on my way. Maybe I can get better service on my next visit. read more

There's a good number of more southern choices here. BBQ pork, slaw, hush puppies, burgers and hot dogs. A slew ( a few dozen) of different shake options from cheese cake to the good old stand bys like chocolate and vanilla. Not ideal for eating in car because juices from meat and slaw kinda get all over. There shakes are more like ice cream, lacking the liquids aspect quite a bit, but taste pretty awesome. I'd say it worth a try! If I ever come through again and I'm not driving I'd try it again. read more

How should I say this, we placed 3 orders and they forgot one, like completely LEFT OUT one of the orders we paid for. Ordered a water and never got it, had to wave back at the window for someone else to give it to us. By the time we got that, we didn't have a straw. Then we got honked at by the car behind us. I live 15 minutes away from cookout and wanted an Oreo Mint milkshake with extra Oreo. That's it. Simple and easy. I drove out there, they read my order back to me correctly, and I got my milkshake. However, I noticed when I got home that they had mistakenly given me a plain Oreo milkshake, no mint, no extra Oreo. No big deal. So I drove out there a second time and told them that they had given me the wrong milkshake, and asked them to make me the milkshake I had originally ordered. They asked me to repeat what my order was supposed to be, and I told them again (Oreo Mint milkshake with extra Oreos) and they asked for my receipt and the incorrect milkshake. They repeated my order back to me correctly, and then proceeded to make me a new milkshake and apologized with a big smile. When I got home, I was amazed to find that they had given me another plain Oreo milkshake. This after repeated clarification on their part for what the order was supposed to be. The first time could have been a mistake. The second time, however, was clear and absolute negligence. I literally drove an hour tonight just trying to get a simple milkshake, and the employees working on this evening (4/25/2019 between 11pm-12am) would simply not give me what I paid for. I don't know if there is new management or if the employees just enjoy messing with their customers, but either way something must be done about it. This is a great business that is being ruined by bad management and bad employees. read more

Decided to stop by tonight to get a late supper for the family. After placing my order I waited for her to repeat my order back to me to make sure she heard it all correctly. I noticed it sounded in the background of the speaker, that the girl taking my order was laughing or playing around. Upon repeating it back, I noticed that she made a mistake which happened to be a pretty important part of the order. The mistake included 2 corn dogs which were going to be my youngest boys entire meal. After I pointed it out she quickly acknowledged the mistake and said that it was corrected. Driving up to the window I still felt like she was goofing off due to the fact that she was laughing and seemed to forget things that I requested. For instance, I asked for honey mustard several times and several times she said "I'm sorry what sauce did you want?". Finally after I paid she handed me my order and closed the window, not realizing that she forgot to give me my debit card back, she finally saw me sitting there and opened the window to return my card. When I got home (just a few minutes ago, before writing this review) I found out my drinks were wrong and the very thing I corrected (my youngest sons corn dogs) were not included in the order. Not fun at all especially consoling my son who I had to get something different somewhere else. Not sure where the manager was tonight but it will keep me from returning anytime soon. read more
