Love that this is a LGBTQ-positive space with a beautiful photo op area in the back and lots of cool political signs and magazines. However, the coffee itself was not the best. I got a latte with huckleberry and vanilla, and the huckleberry tasted really fake and too sweet.

What a fun quirky coffee shop! Walked in to the barista playing punk rock on a Sunday morning and it was awesome! The specials are unique and imaginative but my Lucy's Vector (blended white espresso and amaretto) was good drinking. The barista made my daughter's day when they put extra whip cream on the to go lid.

Came here to grab a coffee and some breakfast. We ordered a breakfast croissant and bagel sandwich. You are able to customize what you want in your breakfast sandwich. We enjoyed our food from here and got it to go to eat by the beach.

The vibes!!! I was visiting from out of town and the name immediately caught my eye. I took the short walk from my hotel to the shop with my dog. The staff gave him a treat and didn't seem to be too bothered by his barking (Sorry!!). The Chai was yummy and the bagel was perfectly toasted. I don't like a ton of cream cheese, but I could easily wipe off the excess. Thankful for a funky, affirming, safe space in the small coastal town of Seaside!!!

Very good coffee and breakfast foods. 90s grunge feel, amazing art and overall just a fun place. They support the community by giving back, mental health nights, game, art, and karaoke nights among other things. Fun photo space in the back where everything is upside down. Friendly service.

Very nice servers and a cool atmosphere but I ordered three beverages for our group and they just were not good. The coffees were weak and overly sweetened. I would love to see these guys improve their coffee game! read more

the ONLY good coffee in seaside. love what they're doing for the community. funny stickers and cute things to buy inside. I wouldn't go in here if you're not liberal but i think that goes without saying--it would probably just make you mad. safe space for lgbtqia+ community (love). the barista we had was super duper sweet. It's never crowded so your drinks come out quickly! Maybe not a place that would be easy to do work on your computer in, more like a grab-n-go kind of situation, as there arent really tables just 2 little couches. All around best coffee shop in seaside. read more

They serve sleepy monk coffee and the staff are warm and friendly. Say no more. If you're driving it can be hard to see from the road because they are not on the street front but by foot you will see them tucked in the back, just look for the sign and arrow. Their lattes are great and we found their fruit smoothies to be an extra tasty treat with tons of flavor options to choose from. When I'm in town this will be my go-to coffee shop. read more

ummmmm....YES!! this place was INCREDIBLE! the decorations were adorable, and the animal crossing specials they had were so creative! i ordered an iced caramel oat milk latte, it wasn't cheap, but that didn't even bother me with the ambiance of this shop. it came out quickly, and was simply delicious. not only coffee, but the shirts and stickers they had here were also so much fun! would love to come back here again, nice servers, quick service, great coffee. read more

My coffee was so good!! Definitely recommend. The barista was AMAZING and so helpful with drink recommendations. The only thing is I went back the next morning to get something else around 10am and on the door it said they open at 8pm but the whole building was locked up :( I checked social media to see if they were closed for the day but didn't see any updates there. read more

After reading all of the great reviews, I was excited to try this place. I didn't actually get a coffee here though because they pre-grind their decaf rather than grinding fresh per order. Some of us love the smell and taste of coffee, but dislike the heart palpitations and sweats they get from caffeinated coffee. We still deserve a good beverage. So many places in this town, like Seaside Coffee Roasters, use this practice. Ugh. Burly and the Bean and Brew 22 treat their decaf drinkers with the same respect as their caffeinated customers. read more

Not only was the coffee here amazing, but the barista was so nice and helpful when we weren't quite sure what to order. My boyfriend got the "pacific pearl", a salted caramel mocha made with Himalayan pink salt, culinary caramel, and Ghirardelli chocolate. I ordered the Polar Bear from their "bear" menu, which are coffees made with espresso infused with cinnamon and honey. It was amazing! Tasted like cinnamon sugar toast, but not too sweet at all which I prefer! The barista was kind and patient, and the location is less than a block from the beach so we got our coffees and enjoyed them on the beach! read more

Went here this afternoon and could not have had a better experience. Fantastic vibe and incredibly friendly staff. Their gifts and other non-coffee items were so cute and we loved that they focused on local queer artists. We got specialty drinks and they were delicious. Anytime we're in the are we're going to go here again for sure. read more

Y'all. Controversial Coffee is the best thing to happen to my mouth since I first kissed my partner! I have been here 7 times and always stupidly convince myself that I'm too busy to leave a review but I am delaying no longer! I have had it with myself! I've made it a point to try a different drink every time, and EVERY SINGLE ONE has been PHENOMENAL. They always decorate the chalkboard in super cute ways too!! I'm just so thankful to find such a badass gem on the shore! Really was not expecting a place that is so open and doesn't care about conforming to any status quo. I don't think they've added themselves to the Slingshot Zine list of anarchist bookstores, but they really should so people know an amazing place like this exists here. Had high hopes. The menu looked good, friendly service, great location. We got a coffee and a latte and both took one sip, then threw away the $8 purchase. Coffee tasted like water and the latte tasted spoiled. Maybe it was a fluke since I saw good reviews. We threw away and went to a different coffee shop for our caffeine fix. read more

This is a fantastic gem in the streets back of the Seaside Prom. The coffee is fundamentally excellent, and the barist(x) skills outstanding. We had our breakfast here 3 days in a row this week - a different order each time (latte, cappuccino, macchiato, all superb). The croissant breakfast sandwich hit the spot. And there is no lack of conversation, or diversions to browse in store, while waiting fro your order Loved it. read more

My favorite coffee spot here in Seaside, family owned and very friendly, they have great coffee and an enormous selection. I would recommend one of their "bear" coffee drinks...cinnamon infused shots pulled over honey with flavoring...very good. To top it off, the music choice is on point! Staff was fairly friendly but the coffee was awful. I got a mocha and I am certain there is no chocolate in it. There's really no flavor at all. Located near the end of a strip mall on Broadway on the Southeast side of the river, this tiny cafe and bakery serves up love and smiles. We were traveling with our two adult children who are on the autism spectrum. Our oldest is gluten free and our youngest, well he identifies as a bull moose and can be about as easy to wrangle. There were plenty of gluten free options for our oldest. Our server Zoe rocking the Wonder Woman tank was a super hero! The owner quickly tuned in to our family being on team quirky and made us feel welcome and at home. Everyone was so friendly! The food? Exceptional! This was our third breakfast out on our trip and the Chalkboard Cafe took the blue ribbon and it was not even close! My youngest had the biscuits and gravy, with a couple of eggs and a sausage patty. He's a charter member of the clean plate club and met the challenge. It was a generous portion. Our oldest had a half order of the B&G and was tempted to have one of the hot from the oven gluten free mini Marion berry pies that the owner proudly paraded around the dining room. Steaming from the oven this Marion berry pie tasted like the best of an Oregon summer. I was glad he shared a couple of bites. It was such a delight that we took a pie home for later! My wife and I shared the traditional eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached, and topped with a thick piece of ham grounded with their perfect English muffin. The Hollandaise was rich and creamy providing a wonderful coat on top of the egg. Their red potatoes were seasoned just right and were a compliment to the eggs Benedict as they would compliment most any savory breakfast. In addition to the pie we took home a couple their chocolate krinkle cookies which were not gluten free. That's the bad news. The good news is that we did not have to share them! They were heavenly! We get to Seaside at least once or twice a year and the Chalkboard Cafe will be part of our regular dining rotation while visiting. Thanks for the love and excellence! The ambience and decor was quaintly charming, at first. But the more I looked the more understood that everything was creepy. Like witchcraft creepy.

I love this place! The infused tea list is amazing. They make it with real muddled fruits and fresh tea. I think my favorite was the starwberry mist. The staff here is very friendly and punky. Everytime we've stopped here they are always playing different and crazy music. A very enjoyable experience overall. Seems like the staff is trained well and very knowledgeable about roasts and proud of their roaster. read more

Horrible group of people work at this establishment who hate and discriminate against others beliefs going against their own so called standards. Waste of my money. Expensive too! Made a patron leave after paying because he was wearing an article of clothing that wasn't a part of their beliefs, disgusting people.
