A friend threw this place on my Facebook feed, and I've been waiting for a chance to pop in. Zoomed up to Seaside in the heatwave, and found it without trying! Located conveniently on the shopping strip, it was cool (both temp and atmosphere) and super inviting. Over the top liberal goodness!! In such a split down the middle state, it was full of rainbows and good vibes and really positive messages, which seems to be their mainstay. Progressive loving morals with a great sense of humor, bright and sassy style, super chill friendly competent service and the most important part, great coffee. Their specials will straight up give you the happiest diabetes, but fear not! They have a good selection of sugar free syrups and the coffee itself tastes good, so you can get the not fancy go juice with no hesitation. There's more than coffee, everyone can be happy in this inviting little hole in the wall. I hope they stay open a long time because they're a bright spot for any community, and a great face to show the tourists. Will be back every time we visit. read more

The coffee specials are creative and tasty- ask to see the book of specials to browse through various themed drinks including One Drink to Rule Them All (that's what I got) and The Phantom (that's what my sister got). Both drinks were yummy, served at the perfect temperature, and made with love. The atmosphere is one of inclusion and belonging. A lot of funny, interesting, and informative things to read in the walls. Cute little stickers (designed by the owner), key chains, and other things fun things for sale. read more

Just in the mood for a warm mocha, I stopped in to a shop with a fun name... told my wife and son I was going to ask fir the most controversial drink they had! This is a fun little shop that does a monthly theme (this month was He-Man), and the staff working were so nice! If you're near the beach in Seaside, Oregon, these folks deserve your business! I had the Beast Man's Whip and got my son a cocoa with whipped cream and... I think they called it "blood drizzle." Good stuff at a great little place. read more

We went down to Controversial Coffee yesterday for breakfast. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, but the drinks were not so good. Weak and flavorless house coffee. The pumpkin spice latte was going to be tasty, but they didn't put enough pumpkin flavor or purée in, AND they put coconut milk in instead of creamer - which made it untasty. The Dirty chai was pretty good. The Marion berry muffins were decent, though dry. The pumpkin muffin was from Costco- but they are always delish. NOW, the cheese danish is the STAR Baker(y) product! Best one I've ever had. All in all, a fun place just steps from the beach. read more

Back mid June I stopped by this cafe as it was the highest rated. Reviews glowing for quality of the coffee. So when I went in a checked the menu, and ordered a flavored Red Bull. The barista asked what size, how odd since it was one can. Just about every place I've been to has a specific size cup the drink is made in to account for ice and flavors. The barista kind of got rude with me over its as if I hadn't a clue what I was ordering. When it was ready, the other barista had turned it into a smoothie. The current use of communication was obviously not working that day. Verbally and written on the cup. The drink itself clearly had way more pumps of syrup than I had asked for. By that time I wasn't interested in a remake. Neither interested in a refund or returning. The anti "cis" stickers for sale at least were honest about what the business thinks about most of its customers. read more

Sweetest customer service. A plethora of fun, nerdy, references are scattered around the menu. Local art, a clothing library, free books, and overall great vibes. The drinks were so yummy, and they offered to put edible glitter in my drink which was probably the highlight of my day. Of course I want a sparkly, pretty, yummy, drink. I absolutely love this place! I have gone to Seaside once a year for the last four years and stay near Broadway. I always go to this coffee shop first because they have the best coffee. This last visit I had shark bite ( half sweet) and a caramel macchiato. Both were really good. I really like the barista's as well, they are very friendly and help me decide what to order. I also accidentally forgot my mask as I walked over from my condo and they graciously gave me one of theirs. I'll be back every time I come to Seaside. read more

I will go out of my way, circle the area multiple times looking for a parking spot, end up walking from a far spot, all to get coffee here. There are coffee shops that are easier to get to but none are this WONDERFUL. I have a lot of loved ones in the LGBTQ community and most of them don't feel like they can blatantly be who they are in public, at work or even at their own businesses. I love seeing the love and support this business creates for everyone. They help people in need. They give people a safe place to gather and exist safely and honestly. They do so much on top of running a small business and all that comes with that. Plus the coffee and monthly specials are amazing. read more

I've been coming to Seaside since I was a kid. Now in my 50's it is a breath of fresh air to see a cafe that is LGBTQA owned and operated. A couple of weeks ago me-a proud gay man and my daughter who identifies as queer were in Seaside for vacation. We went here to check it out. Absolutely love the place and what it stands for! They had an Animal Crossing theme going on for the month. We ordered our coffee's the first day we were there. The coffee tastes great. They had artwork and other things for sale as well. We went back the next day and decided to have lunch there. I was a little cautious about it as every time I've eaten at a coffee shop the food always sucks. Not here! I had a BLT that was fantastic! They have a baked goods case that had a cheese danish that was yelling at me to buy it. I reluctantly did as I thought after a coffee and blt the last thing I needed was more food. But, hey vacation calories don't count right! I'm glad I did. The danish was tasty and flaky. My daughter and I were both wowed by the café with the service, the food and the atmosphere. We will be back again next time we are in Seaside! read more

Was visiting seaside for about a week so tried just about every coffee shop in town and came back a few times here since their lattes were my favorite my a long shot. I'm a vanilla latte girl so can't comment on anything else but it was delicious, staff was friendly and drink always came out quick, although if I had to wait it would be fine as there is plenty of art and memes on the wall to keep you preoccupied while you wait. I also love that the staff put their favorite drink recommendations under their name and pronouns at the register! Only con is that they aren't always open when they say they are, but honestly the whole town is like that during the week on off season so just be aware that shops hours vary a ton and what you see on maps/yelp/websites might not be accurate. read more

Walked in and the music was overwhelming. The employee was more focused on singing along to the music than acknowledging the customers waiting to order. While waiting it gave me plenty of time to look at all the decor throughout the location and noticed an anti police sticker on the wall. "The dream of the 90s is alive in"... Seaside? As a Gen Xer I felt transported in time to when coffeehouses were first coming in to style for little teenage rebels like me. This place has 80s pop culture references galore, including themed coffees and stickers designed by the owner. I got The Phantom (of the Opera) and my sister got the One Drink to Rule them all.
