I've been here twice and will continue to come back! It is really close by to my home so I don't need to drive or look for parking. It's also easy to get to by bus (Q58 or Q59). The first time I came here, it was on a busy Wednesday night around 6:30pm. I was with my mom and we were there until 9:30pm!! There were so many people wanting to get mani and pedis! Although the time spent there was not ideal, I really loved the outcome of my nails. I got the SNS nails done (for the first time and had a great experience) and a pedicure done as well. I absolutely loved my nails. The nail technician was patient and didn't try to rush doing my nails even though it was nearing closing time. The SNS nails is a long process itself and the nail technician was doing her best to finish my nails as time efficiently and as nicely as possible (since I was there for a long period of time). The shape of my nails were close to perfection and the color came out beautiful. I also had a chipped nail and they applied a fake nail on top of it so they would all be even. Normally, they would charge $5 but because I waited a long time for them, they didn't charge me for it. A no frills local salon with reasonable prices. They accept walk-ins, but calling ahead is also a good idea. The safety precautions consist of plexiglass dividers and polyvinyl partitions. I would rate the cleanliness of the salon a 3.5 out of 5 stars. On two separate visits I didn't notice in-between cleaning of the manicure tables and drying stations. They do however line the pedicure tub and use fresh water for the next customer. I have called ahead and walked in two times and received prompt and kind service. There is some pushy upselling of pricer nail services, but stick to your gut on what you want. The clean-up, shaping, and filing of my nails was thorough on each visit by separate nail technicians. I received a gel manicure the first time and it lasted four weeks without chipping, The second time I had a regular manicure and was charged an additional $5 for choosing an OPI Infinite Shine 2 10-day wear polish. This place was recommended by my fiancée's sister who lives nearby. We got the spa pedicure and regular mani combo. ($40 something) FH was okay with his service. Mine was not so okay. I mean the lady was nice. But I kept on telling her to coat the sides of my nails. I know it was just a regular mani service, but still, do it well because it's your job. I've been to this nail spa for a while now and each time I go I get different results each time. But for a while now it's been consistently trash and I really don't know how else to put it nicely. I came in early ~9:15 because I figured it won't be as crowded and they will be able to take their time. I came in for a SIMPLE MANICURE. And they still managed to mess it up. The coating of the polish is uneven and it is very noticeable. There are air bubbles? How? My nails aren't filed equally. And my cuticles are not clean at all. This is my all time regular mani pedi place. Pretty close to my house. It's busy most of the time so I make appointment but they take walk-ins too. They do every short of manicure but my all time favorite is French tip. The price is very reasonable and the work they do is fantastic. My favorite is Connie, she knows what I like so I don't even need to tell her what to do. And it lasts for three weeks The place is pretty clean and they always offer you tea or water. As I was getting my nails done, I was amazed by how lively this place was! You can tell that the staffs and customers were happy which is a plus and they treat new customers equally as regulars! I got an acrylic set which is $30 and an additional $5 to make them coffin-shaped, which is a pretty good price compared to a lot of other nail salons. At 12pm on a Thursday just about every seat was packed. I happened to walk to Opium first, it's pretty much right next door, but they were closed without a sign or anything so maybe everyone just came here like I did. Music was the radio, Light FM. The place is very clean. The pedi chairs have massage functionality. I swear at one point I smelt truffle oil super strong haha. First off, I've been here on and off for the last 2 years. The Experience was never consistent. I liked the girl I had before--I think her name was Ivy. However, she no longer works there. Overall, the girls there are nice/harmless and do a decent job As other yelpers have said, Connie, the owner is extremely money hungry and LOUD, which at times can come off rude to many. You cant ever walk in to inquire about prices or wait time without being harassed to stay. Don't ever try to leave after being kept waiting for 1+ hour(s)--Connie and her business partner would say it was a 15 min wait when it wasn't--cause they will attempt to keep you hostage, as in block the doors and yell for you to stay. My recent experience was the worst but I was desperate so I stayed. The wait was an hour long. The owner, Connie, did my gel nails, and was not exactly focused on servicing me. She was mainly concentrating on what was going on around her. I get you're the owner and want to provide "exceptional" service but there is a way to do it, professionally. But no, not in her case. She'd stop amid painting on a coat, stop, check in on her customers, come back forget if she painted on a coat on a particular nail, stop, try to work on a customer complaint or have a conversation with a customer. You get the picture. My pedicure was terrible. They looked loke I did them at home (actually I can do a better job). The paint job began chipping after 2 days. Hygiene is NOT A TOP PRIORITY HERE. The tools are old and rusty, and they reuse the foam filers and buffers. (Gross) I would NOT recommend coming here unless you're in the area and desperate for a last minute mani/pedi. This is my s time coming to Connie's. At first she greeted you so friendly and then the service is so amazing. I did a powder gel which is only $35 and i actually wanted the other colour, but i guess she forgot. But turns out, i LOVE the colour that she put on me. Christine is really good at doing powder gel. I also got a regular pedicure for $16 which is a little more than usual but the lady that did me was so lovely and friendly. Definitely coming back! Very nice owner and staff! Connie wants you to come back but the nail technicians are great with the exception of a few (Laura, Leann or Claire are great). thoroughly disgusted with the hygiene of this place but the actual application of the nail color and pedicure was perfectly fine. on a friday morning, this place was actually kinda busy! i came in just for a pedicure and they were able to take me right away. when i sat down on the chair and put my feet on the bench, that should've been the first warning sign and i should've left. the towel under my feet was already wet! i was hoping that it was wet because it was freshly washed and they didn't have time to dry it because of the crowd. but in retrospect, i doubt that was the case. TT_________TT after that, commenced the pedicure. she was sharing another cart with another tech next to her and i don't think she got sterile tools from the sterilization oven. uuuuuugghhh. why didn't i leave?! as she continued cleaning my feet, i was watching the tech next to me finish up and clean the tub. her idea of cleaning the tub was misting it with tilex and daintily "scrubbing" it with a TOILET SEAT CLEANER? and when i say "scrub" i mean graze. and she proceeded to put that same scrubber into the bucket where the foot pumices were to which MY TECH GRABBED ONE OF THOSE PUMICES TO USE ON ME. gag gag yuck ick gross blagh waaaah! after all was said and done, the tech cleaned my feet better than they clean their facilities. but i'm definitely NOT coming here again. This place is so convenient for me! I needed to find a good nail salon in my neighborhood. I've only came here twice. Once I came with my sister and we received a mani-pedi which surprisingly lasted me over a week. Usually whenever I get a mani from somewhere it chips the next day. The second time I came here was for a gel manicure for my friend and I. I wouldn't come back here for a gel manicure. Or at least I wouldn't let the person who did mine do it again. The gel manicure was messed it. There were bumps by the end of my nails and the sides were missing the gel. My friend however her gel manicure turned out perfect! The service I have to say is really good though. The people are really sweet. My friend needed a charger for we phone and they took out their chargers to let her use. If you're getting a pedicure, they will sit you in the chair soaking your feet whether they are ready or not. If you want a particular person, you'll be waiting awhile. Connie for one is a greedy, money hungry owner who will literally chase you out the door asking for your phone number and an exact time if you say you can't wait because it's too busy and she told you five minutes 30 minutes ago. The cleanliness of the place is below par. They don't change the wax stick before dipping it back in the hot wax, which can lead to the spread of disease and they don't thoroughly clean their pedicure stations. For the same price or less I have found a much newer and cleaner place with great nail techs and a pleasant owners whose profit comes second to customer satisfaction. read more
