Wor wonton soup

Wor wonton was well priced for the amount of wonton in it (12pc for the large). Tons of chicken, beef, fish, shrimp, broccoli, but no baby corn. Mr W says it's a decent Chinese wor wonton but if you're expecting a western style wor wonton you may be disappointed because it's very Chinese. At least it's not wonton soup topped with chow mein topping. Lady W likes the broth but not the fish Mr W likes fish but doesn't like fish in wor wonton Lady W got really full off this. Good value. Still not as good as jade palace

Tofu & eggplant hot pot

Pretty bland, uninspired, inauthentic Chinese food. I was looking for a new Szechuan place to try that offered nice vegetarian options, and I stumbled across this place, so we did an online take-out order one night -- they offer 10% if you order more than $38 before tax, which is nice, and a free spring roll or hot & sour soup on orders over $30. The food was waiting when I arrived, but the woman at the front didn't acknowledge me for several minutes. -The spring roll was very thin and mostly dough, with a small amount of crunchy cabbage. This was a pretty lame, low effort spring roll. 2/5 -The kung pao vegetables was different than we expected, as it's largely a tofu dish, that comes with carrots, celery, zuchini, and cashew nuts. Mild sauce, a little sweet, not spicy at all. Tasty enough but pretty underwhelming and inauthentic. 2.5/5 -The tofu & eggplant hotpot was uninspired. It was just not very flavourful. You get big pieces of deep fried tofu and eggplant, and a mild, bland brown sauce at the bottom that isn't very inspiring. Uninteresting dish that many places do much better. 2/5 -The szechuan green beans were solid enough, but not even remotely spicy despite their menu stipulating it is. Decently cooked and flavourful, but left something to be desired. 3/5 Overall, we weren't too enthralled with the place. It's reasonably priced and offers good portions, but their dishes are fairly bland and uninteresting. I wouldn't return with so many good Chinese places in town that do vegetarian options.

Delish! And good sized portions!!

I do enjoy getting take out from here! We lived down the street for 4 years (have just moved) and this is where I would get Chinese food any time i had the craving! It's reasonably priced considering the amounts they give you! It took my son and I 4 meals to get through about $25 worth of food! I will still do take out from here because I work close by!

A Gastronomic Awakening in Chinatown! You don't truly know…read moreuntil you go--and now that I've been, I'm haunted. As I write this, I am literally still dreaming of the Hong Kong Style BBQ Pork. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. If you're looking for a "one in a million" meal, let Bobby order for you. You won't regret it.

Unbelievable. Came here on a whim. Not a huge menu, but…read morestraight to the point. The noodle soup was bland and boring. Should've stuck with rice. The char siu and soy sauce chicken were both cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. The green scallion sauce was not necessary but it was still delicious ! Would've been great over rice. The extra fatty char siu the server gave me to try was over the top! Perhaps the best char siu I've had to date. My server, Bobby? Did a fantastic job and was very informative and I can tell he really likes what he does thru his enthusiasm

Absolute BEST dim sum I've had yet. Made to order, the food was hot, juicy, and tasted just right…read more Not greasy or oily, just pure juiciness. We tried to go to other places around town for dim sum but others were too busy or only took reservations. I'm so glad we ended up here. Portions are huge so be careful when ordering! We ordered a lot and ended up having plenty to take home after. 12/10 recommend this place for delicious dim sum!

With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.

Barely warm Not very impressed with this place. It's probably the most expensive and worst tasting Chinese food we had. Was not satisfied

As a high end restaurant, the food quality was below average. However, what truly disappointed me was the poor service. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the dishes were served very slowly. The first 2 dishes came out fast, but the later 2 dishes came out after 45 min. When we asked for additional rice and water, we had to wait an unusually long time. Throughout the meal, we felt neglected. It was hard not to feel that the level of service was noticeably indifferent, possibly because we did not order any high-priced seafood or premium dishes. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was simply unacceptable. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I would not return and would not recommend it.

I like the way they portioned it and served each of us. They did not skimp out on the ingredients, such as if they say whole abalone, it really is. They definitely served the best seafood. The dessert also was amazing with the brown sugar cake and tapioca pudding. The only reason 1 star was missing was that parking was not that easy and service was mostly good. At times, some staff were not was attentive such as: they took the chopsticks away, but you still needed them. Still, Kirin is solid for it's dim sum and seafood!
