Conejo Negro was a 10/10 from the vibe to the taste of the food. If u lived in Canada they wouldn't be able to keep me away from this restaurant. The service was okay. It seemed to be so busy they couldn't remember a lot of stuff so we did have to ask multiple times but the food more than made up for that in my opinion.

This was the highlight of my food experience in Toronto! I booked with a large party so there was a pre fixed menu and every single dish was good! I love love loved! The lamb was delicious and definitely my favorite

A Creole, Caribbean restaurant that is Bib Gourmand, known for its Latin influences, good quality and good value. I definitely think there were some hit and miss dishes for sure. Starters were all amazing, whereas the main courses were not really to our liking. Service was great at the beginning, but somehow our server changed mid service and was never made clear to us, therefore we didn't know where our original server was the entire rest of the night. This spot is a solid 3.5/5 for me! Here's what we got: Small plates/ sides: Pork belly tacos 5/5 - Loved this, well rounded with the fatty pork and salsas Tuna and shrimp ceviche 5/5 - Citrusy, delicious, great for sharing Firecracker shrimp 5/5 - These were addicting! Fried shrimp in a firecracker sauce. Must get Creole caesar 4/5 - Great caesar salad with fried okra Elote ribs 5/5 - Loved these. Grilled corn ribs with lime crema sauce Macaroni pie 4/5 - A macaroni and cheese side dish that was cheesy and good for sharing. Large plates: Fried chicken 5/5 - Probably the best main dish imo. Was perfectly cooked with some smoked hot honey. Curried lamb 3/5 - This was okay, slow cooked, and served with roti. Caribbean style braised beef 3/5 - Thought this looked better than it tasted. Just was okay imo. Overall, would come back for the small plates and sides and skip the large plates. You just have to know what to order here.

The appetizers were amazing! very very flavourful and love how colourful and how they use many ingredients to create the dishes. The tuna shrimp ceviche, elote corn ribs, corn breand shrimp crackers are a must order! Jerk chicken and fried chicken was just okay. and the 2 sauces that they provide with the food is super yum. We were seated in the back heated patio. not cold at all!

Carribean and creole inspired food. Food: Ceviche: was really good. I liked the chips. Pisco sour: good. Not too alcohol forward and very balanced. Sour but not overwhelming. Grilled okra: good. Very nice char on it. Very tasty and so was the garlic and lime crema. Slightly spicy. Blackened fish: it was okay. I probably wouldn't get again Jerk chicken: pretty good. Spicy. Flavourfull. Carribean braised beef (not pictured): thought it was just okay at first. But it reheated very well at home the next day. Service: Really good. We asked for a candle on the cake for a bday. They came out singing their heart out. We also stayed a long time and they were very nice throughout. Great staff. Ambiance: Casual but not dive bar. Not stuffy or fancy. Good place for a casual date.

Came here for dinner with a friend and we were blown away. The menu was eclectic and unique. I'm so glad we decided to share several things. Everything we tried was superb. The atmosphere was bustling. A cool vibe inside, and a back patio that really pops. Love the decor, the graffiti in the basement where the bathrooms are...everything was just fantastic. Since Covid, I've noticed the service at restaurants generally isn't what it used to be. But not here. The staff at Conejo Negro were incredible. They were all very attentive and about the experience. 10 out of 10!

Conejo Negro is an eclectic spot around the Ossington area if you're into Caribbean + Latin fusion with bold flavors. We tried the Manu Sour cocktail, pineapple & beet salad, grilled okra, elotes, blackened fish, fried chicken, and tres leches. Everything was super flavorful, and most dishes we ordered had a bit of a kick - perfect if you like spice. The plates are also designed for sharing, which makes it a fun spot to go with friends. The vibe is casual but lively. Staff were super friendly and attentive. The restaurant does get busy, so making a reservation is definitely recommended.

came here due to its bib-gourmand recommended status. nice ambience. attentive service. bussssssyyyyyy... we ordered: 1. ceviche. omg!! soooo damn good. very different style from typical ceviche. refreshing, sweet soury (almost vineggraite-ish... from the fruits) and has a kick! paired it with the slightly salted 'chips' gave nice crunch texture overall. 2. fire shrimp. flavorful savory tasty. finger licking good. 3. cornbread. not bad. i guess bread is bread. it has TINY drizzle of honey. which is good when paired with melted butter. so this is best eaten when warm. 4. fried chicken. juicy and has the right crispiness. it comes with honey hot sauce and pickled. the sauce is too sweet. the pickle help to cut the sweetness and balanced the overall flavor (even tho im not a 'pickle' person...no pun intended. lol). 5. macaroni pie. im not a fan of macaroni in general, but my table mate love it! highly recommended this place! worthed.

Great high quality food and service! Decor could be better

Great, high quality food and service. Decor was lacking - could be better for the high standards of everything else.

The coolest vibes for Papi Hour, hosted by @Overproofpapi at Conejo Negro. It was a girls night out and I wasn't really sure what to expect going in but was pleasantly surprised! The event was tucked into a cozy room at the back of the restaurant, complete with a live DJ and a dedicated bar area that made the space feel both intimate and bumpingat the same time. A special cocktail menu was created just for the night, with food available from Conejo Negro's regular menu (best of both worlds.) Mingling was effortless thanks to shared table seating and a fun "get-to-know-you" bingo game, complete with prizes (first place scored a bottle of rum, second took home a pair of the gorgeous decorative glasses the cocktails were served in). Drinks: I spent the evening sipping on a beautifully presented Hemingway Daiquiri (and cheers to Uber for getting us home safe and sound). Food: Conejo Negro absolutely delivered on ambience and food (no surprise they've earned a spot on the Michelin list two years in a row.) Standout dishes: the ceviche (incredibly fresh) and the fried chicken (juicy AF). I already know I'd be tempted to order the exact same things on my next visit... though there's still so much more on the menu to explore. Vibes: This collaboration was pure genius. I left with great conversations, new connections, and a strong desire to bring all my friends back to Conejo Negro and to more events like this!

Great food, fast service, beautiful ambiance. Had some good music playing as well. My partner and I left very happy

Made a reservation well in advance for a birthday and we were seated at a table right at the entrance. Wasn't the best location but it didn't ruin our dinner. Service was great. I believe it was one of the co-owners who also waited our table and service was excellent. It got a little slower as the restaurant got busy, but the quality of service was great. I loved all the food but the drinks are mediocre and the only reason I have the place 4 stars and not 5. We got the beet salad, macaroni pie, Caesar salad, jerk chicken, and braised beef. They were all delicious. The cornbread looked amazing and I'll definitely be getting that next time along with the ceviche. I also really want to try the dessert next time. Safe to say I'll be coming back for more!

We came here while on vacation. Its a casual place abd we were definitely over dressed. We came on Sunday and its a fixed menu and contained all meat. My neice was vegetarian but they accommodated us as much as they could for her. I appreciate it so much

The food was fresh and well-made, and reminded me of visiting family in Italy who have been making simple and delicious meals from scratch for generations. Because of the affordable price, I was concerned about portion size but they were generous and considerably larger than they appear in the menu's photos. I ordered two main dishes (each main is one protein and two sides for $13) and an extra two veggie-based sides (5) for two people at the end of a long day, and it was more than enough. On an average day, I think I would be satisfied with just a main - the sides included in the main are good dishes in their own right, no filler. I will order again or, post-covid, it would be a perfect to-go option for the park. Delivery was quick, ingredients were whole, and flavour was strong.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. One thing worth noting is that if you're provided with a menu, not everything listed is available as part of the buffet. Certain seafood dishes and desserts are reserved for à la carte service, which wasn't immediately obvious. The experience started a little inconsistently. Some tables received a welcome drink while others did not, and there didn't appear to be any explanation for the difference. The atmosphere also wasn't quite what I expected. It often felt as though the dining room was geared more toward content creation than enjoying a leisurely meal. Buffet lines became quite long at times as some guests paused to set up ring lights and film multiple shots before moving on. Throughout the afternoon, ring lights remained in use at several tables, and a few groups could be heard repeating their toasts to capture the perfect video. While I understand that's part of the social media culture today, it did take away from what could have been a more relaxed dining experience. As for the food, it was enjoyable but ultimately didn't stand out. Given the restaurant's reputation, I had expected a bit more in terms of quality and freshness. Toronto has no shortage of excellent sushi restaurants, many of which offer a stronger culinary experience in a more relaxed setting. One interaction with the manager also left me a little puzzled. While checking in with our table, he seemed surprised to learn that we were locals, mentioning that most guests he speaks with are visiting from out of town. Considering the restaurant's location beside one of the city's major theatres in the Entertainment District, I wasn't sure why that was unexpected. He then shared that he never leaves the city for anything, which made for an unusual conversation and didn't feel especially relevant to our dining experience. Overall, I can understand why the restaurant appeals to those looking for a lively, social media-friendly outing. For me, however, the focus seemed to lean more toward the atmosphere than the food itself. While I'm glad I gave it a try, I don't think it would be my first choice the next time I'm looking for a sushi buffet
