The appetizers were amazing! very very flavourful and love how colourful and how they use many ingredients to create the dishes. The tuna shrimp ceviche, elote corn ribs, corn breand shrimp crackers are a must order! Jerk chicken and fried chicken was just okay. and the 2 sauces that they provide with the food is super yum. We were seated in the back heated patio. not cold at all!

Carribean and creole inspired food. Food: Ceviche: was really good. I liked the chips. Pisco sour: good. Not too alcohol forward and very balanced. Sour but not overwhelming. Grilled okra: good. Very nice char on it. Very tasty and so was the garlic and lime crema. Slightly spicy. Blackened fish: it was okay. I probably wouldn't get again Jerk chicken: pretty good. Spicy. Flavourfull. Carribean braised beef (not pictured): thought it was just okay at first. But it reheated very well at home the next day. Service: Really good. We asked for a candle on the cake for a bday. They came out singing their heart out. We also stayed a long time and they were very nice throughout. Great staff. Ambiance: Casual but not dive bar. Not stuffy or fancy. Good place for a casual date.

Came here for dinner with a friend and we were blown away. The menu was eclectic and unique. I'm so glad we decided to share several things. Everything we tried was superb. The atmosphere was bustling. A cool vibe inside, and a back patio that really pops. Love the decor, the graffiti in the basement where the bathrooms are...everything was just fantastic. Since Covid, I've noticed the service at restaurants generally isn't what it used to be. But not here. The staff at Conejo Negro were incredible. They were all very attentive and about the experience. 10 out of 10!

Conejo Negro is an eclectic spot around the Ossington area if you're into Caribbean + Latin fusion with bold flavors. We tried the Manu Sour cocktail, pineapple & beet salad, grilled okra, elotes, blackened fish, fried chicken, and tres leches. Everything was super flavorful, and most dishes we ordered had a bit of a kick - perfect if you like spice. The plates are also designed for sharing, which makes it a fun spot to go with friends. The vibe is casual but lively. Staff were super friendly and attentive. The restaurant does get busy, so making a reservation is definitely recommended.

The coolest vibes for Papi Hour, hosted by @Overproofpapi at Conejo Negro. It was a girls night out and I wasn't really sure what to expect going in but was pleasantly surprised! The event was tucked into a cozy room at the back of the restaurant, complete with a live DJ and a dedicated bar area that made the space feel both intimate and bumpingat the same time. A special cocktail menu was created just for the night, with food available from Conejo Negro's regular menu (best of both worlds.) Mingling was effortless thanks to shared table seating and a fun "get-to-know-you" bingo game, complete with prizes (first place scored a bottle of rum, second took home a pair of the gorgeous decorative glasses the cocktails were served in). Drinks: I spent the evening sipping on a beautifully presented Hemingway Daiquiri (and cheers to Uber for getting us home safe and sound). Food: Conejo Negro absolutely delivered on ambience and food (no surprise they've earned a spot on the Michelin list two years in a row.) Standout dishes: the ceviche (incredibly fresh) and the fried chicken (juicy AF). I already know I'd be tempted to order the exact same things on my next visit... though there's still so much more on the menu to explore. Vibes: This collaboration was pure genius. I left with great conversations, new connections, and a strong desire to bring all my friends back to Conejo Negro and to more events like this!

Made a reservation well in advance for a birthday and we were seated at a table right at the entrance. Wasn't the best location but it didn't ruin our dinner. Service was great. I believe it was one of the co-owners who also waited our table and service was excellent. It got a little slower as the restaurant got busy, but the quality of service was great. I loved all the food but the drinks are mediocre and the only reason I have the place 4 stars and not 5. We got the beet salad, macaroni pie, Caesar salad, jerk chicken, and braised beef. They were all delicious. The cornbread looked amazing and I'll definitely be getting that next time along with the ceviche. I also really want to try the dessert next time. Safe to say I'll be coming back for more!

We came here while on vacation. Its a casual place abd we were definitely over dressed. We came on Sunday and its a fixed menu and contained all meat. My neice was vegetarian but they accommodated us as much as they could for her. I appreciate it so much

I was pleasantly surprised last night dining here in that this seemed like a fun place to eat with recorded Cuban music among others playing in the background. I had a rum punch that worked really well with my meal. We started with the grilled pineapple and beet salad and a large macaroni pie. It was a different and welcome take on salad. The macaroni pie also differed with a selection of spices I wasn't accustomed to but most pleasing. We had three proteins for main entrees. Fried chicken, jerk chicken and blackened fish. The blackened fish was salmon that day. All three were excellent and the Caribbean vibe was a nice change. Service was alright. A laid back and most relaxing atmosphere to chill out in.

Part of a longer review... "At Conejo Negro, which translates to "black rabbit" in English, the interplay of flickering candlelight against wood-paneled walls creates an ambiance that is both intimate and transportive. It strikes that elusive balance--sophisticated but never pretentious, welcoming yet undeniably refined. You are here to eat delicious food, yes, but also to linger, to melt into the atmosphere where warmth radiates not just from the kitchen, but from the people who run it...."

I really wanted to love this place because the food was delicious but the service was very slow..... we had to wait so long for the bill. If you're in a hurry this isn't the place to go to before other plans. We went on a Thursday and it was packed. I think hiring more staff would be beneficial. For the apps we ordered the Brazilian cheese puffs, macaroni pie and cornbread. I really liked the cheese puffs, very unique and tasty. The mac and cheese was also very delicious- it's a good Mac. For the mains we got- fried chicken, and the Caribbean style braised beef. The fried chicken was amazing topped with the smoked hot honey- perfectly deep fried, juicy and flavourful. The pickled veggies were a bit too sour and I was not a fan of the veggies they picked for it. The braised beef had a bit of a spicy kick to it, melted in your mouth and all around delicious on top of the grits. Hopefully the service gets better and able to accommodate all the tables. Because I would like to be back to try different dishes.

African and Latin fusion cuisine and I am here for it!! We tried the Brazilian cheese puffs, ceviche, jalapeño cornbread, Mac and cheese, okra, fried chicken and corn ribs - every dish was so yummy. Although, I did find that the Mac and cheese could use a bit more flavour it was a nice bite to all the other dishes on our table. The service was slow but the restaurant was packed to the brim and our server/staff made up with their friendly service and tequila shots on the house. The ambiance and vibes were fun and casual. All in all, I'm excited to be back to try more of their diverse menu offerings and can see why they got a Michelin star to their name.

Conejo Negro was really, really solid and well deserving of its Michelin Bib! While I can't say the dishes were the best versions of theirselves (think: while the jerk chicken is very good, you can still do better elsewhere), everything is really good. The atmosphere was a bit stuffy, albeit on a hot day, though the staff were wonderfully attentive. A must try in Toronto!

There was no calories spared in that dish, with generous use of drippings in the delicious rice. The oxtail was also delicious and unctuous. Definitely a sharing dish! I really enjoyed my time here, although my friend was less impressed. I would be happy to go back. The rest of the staff were very friendly as well. They had a live DJ playing music, which was nice.

The food was fresh and well-made, and reminded me of visiting family in Italy who have been making simple and delicious meals from scratch for generations. Because of the affordable price, I was concerned about portion size but they were generous and considerably larger than they appear in the menu's photos. I ordered two main dishes (each main is one protein and two sides for $13) and an extra two veggie-based sides (5) for two people at the end of a long day, and it was more than enough. On an average day, I think I would be satisfied with just a main - the sides included in the main are good dishes in their own right, no filler. I will order again or, post-covid, it would be a perfect to-go option for the park. Delivery was quick, ingredients were whole, and flavour was strong.

The cajun fries are soft potato wedges coated in chili flakes and paprika. It comes with what looks like the burger sauce as dip and is tangy and finger licking good. When we arrived we were offered a complimentary glass of Chardonnay and during dinner we were check in on at least 3 times with once being the manager of the evening. The biggest surprise was the roasted peppers which were really tender & had a great grill flavour. Potato salad with white balsamic dressing was good too with firm potatoes & a novel dressing. The fried rice was Japanese style so don't expect Chinese style. Stuffed basa had a good flavour & balance. The toppings didn't overpower the fish yet were not so weak that you only tasted the fish. Even the deep fried items (shrimp & wings) were good - not the usual buffet cheap crap. The only flaw was the desserts, eg the cream puff was a little dry.
