This is my kind of place! I made a reservation prior because I had walked by Condesa a few times and saw how packed it was and I was coming for dinner during Cinco de Mayo. That was definitely the thing to do because this is a popular destination and see why. It's giving Miami all day. Love the decor, love the ambiance, love the outdoor/patio area. Because it was a holiday we could not take advantage of the happy hour specials but that's good enough reason for me to schedule a return. We ordered: Guacamole- lots of cilantro on top but not mixed in and the portion could have been a wee more generous to share. Queso fundido- bubbling hot, cheesy chorizo-y deliciousness. Camarones à la parrilla- we shared this entree and I immediately wanted to order another to myself. Absolutely delicious. And finally a desert. We enjoyed all of the dishes and the daiquiris too. Food -we had our corporate Christmas party here and the appetizers ranged from chips with guacamole was very good and tomatillo salsa -very spicy to shrimp skewers which were breaded and tasty. To fried chicken bites and fried shrimp bites to flautas. Overall good spread with different rimmed from salt sugar to michelada spice for margaritas to beers n wines. I questioned booking a resy here after seeing a few bad reviews but I'm glad I tried this place. My visit was when the dinner service started at 5pm all of the staff I encountered were cheery and helpful. I settled on the restaurant week menu. I thought maybe it wouldn't be enough food - but boy, was I wrong. I got the chips and salsa trio AND guacamole. Everything was fresh and filling. Then I got the queso fundido veggie style and mushroom birria for the entree. The consommé was perfect for a chilly night. Dessert was the corn fritters with ice cream and honestly I wish I could take that sweet corn ice cream home in a pint. For $45 I still had leftovers. Just go already. read more

The ambiance in this place is stellar, very modern but also cozy. The dining room is pretty large but the lighting and the layout of the floor keeps it from feeling "corporate". Our service was great and it was such a nice way to spend a Saturday night. We ordered the potatoes to start which were delicious with bold flavors and crispy on the outside and puffy and potato-y on the inside. The chicken was delicious and came with blue corn tortillas, pickled veggies and plantain. The cocktails (we had several different kinds) were delicious. It was convenient because I was staying in the hotel but beyond that nothing about it was special. The service was terrible but only from the wait staff. I just wanted a quick snack so I got guacamole off the happy hour menu, and a limonada. Enjoyed the guacamole and it was a pretty good portion. The limonada was a nice refreshing drink and wasn't too sweet. The bar seating was ok. The restaurant itself is immediately adjacent to the lobby/check in area of the hotel and the acoustics were ok. I think it would've been harder to carry a conversation if you were trying to talk and the restaurant was full. The happy hour menu is worth checking out. 3% kitchen fee is added to the bill. Overpriced and service was bad. After sitting down, we went 15 minutes without a waiter so much as greeting us or bringing water to the table. At the 15 minute mark, a waiter came towards our table only to abruptly turn away again. We had to flag someone down just to get water and place our orders. Had dinner at Condesa this past weekend with my friends and it was such a vibe from start to finish. The ambiance is super cute: modern, fun, and beautifully designed. I loved how diverse and lively the crowd was too. We started with the guac and chips and the ceviche. The ceviche was incredibly fresh with just the right balance of acidity, which I absolutely loved! For my main, I had the braised beef brisket tacos which were juicy, tender, and overall super flavorful. My spicy mezcal margarita accompanied this well. One of my friends had gotten there first and put down her name and wasn't sure if the hostess was waiting for everyone to arrive or waiting for an open table (it was fairly empty at the time). When she went to ask, the hostess was a little snobby and snippy. For the food, I think prices are only worth it if you go during happy hour or for taco Tuesday. We ordered chips and guac to share and I got the chicken wings. The chicken wings were unique in that they had a hint of buffalo flavor but was mixed with something else (couldn't quite put my finger on it). It added some nuttiness and depth to the flavor. We went to Condesa for Restaurant Week and were impressed. NOTE: everyone at the table has to participate for restaurant week menu. The restaurant is in a side street but the inside is cute and cozy and surprisingly spacious The server explained the whole process thoroughly and told us how the order will be taken in the beginning such that there was no confusion and I appreciated that and thought it was smart. First of all, we did not expect restaurant week menu to include Guac and chips and they were good. Chips had a shape that was circle like a full taco tortilla size instead of what you normally see. It was good, although it was on the smaller side, we were okay with it since we still go two courses and a dessert for $40. We shared the first course and ordered - tuna tostadas, flautas, and queso fundido. All of them were good! My favorite was the flautas but my friends and I all had different favorites and agreed they were all good. For mains they got chicken enchiladas and I got the carnitas. I got two tacos for mine so I was a bit disappointed by that. It was a solid, flavorful carnitas. I didn't try their chicken enchiladas but the portion was large and from my understanding were pretty decent. The dessert is what really impressed us though. Usually for restaurant week, the dessert is an add on menu that is just okay but the dessert that had were excellent and our favorite part of the menu. The chocolate soufflés were decadent and absolutely delicious. It went perfectly with the ice cream and the cookie crumbs garnish. The tropical sundae was also unique and tasted very good. Would make for a great date night or a place to impress or celebrate something special. ***This review is for Condesa's Happy Hour*** Fellow Yelp Elites Katie K., Amy L. and I met up at Condesa one Tuesday to take advantage of the Happy Hour deals and $6 Taco Tuesday specials. The three of us ordered food and drinks from the Happy Hour menu and shared everything from flautas, chicken wings, and chips and guacamole. We also ordered 2 orders of the carnitas tacos, 2 orders of the fried fish tacos, and 2 orders of the barbacoa tacos. At $6 per taco, these tacos are discounted by $0.50 to $2.50 from the regular dinner menu and are stuffed. 2 tacos are more than enough to make you full. Stack them with a few Happy Hour items, and you've got more than a substantial dinner. I've enjoyed most of the items from the Happy Hour menu, and the portions are very generous. Everything we had was delicious. Great taste, value, and atmosphere. Condesa is definitely one of my favorite spots in the city for Happy Hour. read more

What I gathered from the group before my husband and I got there was even with a reservation for two parties (9 and 9) and some folks seated at the bar. Went last night with friends. I found the food very bland and boring for Mexican. The fish tacos were tasteless. The serving sauces lacked flavor. The guac was fairly good. However they just threw a fist full of of cilantro on top. Not chopped or mixed in. The ceviche was just okay. The final straw was the 3% "kitchen service fee" tacked on to the bill. When I questioned it I was told it's to defray the cost of the cost kitchen staff. So now I have to not only pay for the wait staff (which I don't mind) but I have pay extra to have the the food cooked. Next they'll add a % for the electric bill. Came to Condesa tonight with some family visiting from out of town and we had an awesome night! Condesa was such a fun, upbeat vibe with great cocktails and delicious food. We started off with the guacamole and the pork chorizo tlyayuda to share. Both were very good but I really enjoyed the tlyayuda! It was like a Mexican pizza/nacho hybrid! Very tasty and filling. For our entrees we ordered the carne asada, pescado veracruz, camarones al pastor, and carnitas tacos. Our personal favorites were the two seafood dishes! Both were very flavorful and light! Afterwards, we grabbed a drink upstairs at El Techo, their rooftop bar which was super fun! Great atmosphere and a perfect spot for summer. Came here with a group of moms for a night out and we had a blast. We had a good sized party of about 15 ladies. We started at the bar and had a round of drinks before our table was ready. The restaurant was packed and seemed to be one of the best spots in the city. When we got our table we quickly ordered our food which came out in decent timing. This reaturant is tucked right on the outskirts of Center City and it serves high end Mexican food that was delicious! The vibe of the place is very cool with unqiue seating everywhere! The boho decor was beautiful and had such a clean feel. The waiter was excellent, very attentive, and knowledgeable about all of the different tequilas and drinks options. The drinks were delicious. I went with with a mezcal margarita because all the cocktails were described as sweet. I also got a few appetizers to try and they did not disappoint. The grilled Caesar salad was so fresh, light, and extremely flavorful. The empanadas looked small at first but they were extremely packed with a mix of shrimp and veggies. They were also very good. I will always have a soft spot for Condesa as I've had many great times here. I do think the food can be hit or miss though. The menu changes, which I love, but not everything I've tried has been delicious. On my last visit, I got the duck enmoladas. It was good but overall the mole was rather bland. The veggie tostadas were okay. My friend's chile relleno was definitely the best thing we had that evening. I am super fond of the Chamoyada and have gotten it a lot in the past, but this time there was like 3 small cubes of cake so it was unbalanced and disappointing. That said, the salsas here are some of my favorite in the city. I also think their guac is above average and I love their homemade tortillas. The margs are always good and strong. The ambiance is amazing - it's beachy and trendy but still feels intimate. It's really gorgeous inside. Some other things I've had that are delicious and I would recommend are the tuna tostadas and aguachile. Also, if they ever bring them back, the tempura veggie tacos, lamb adobo, and the fish al pastor (my fave) are all fantastic. At the end of the night, be sure to check with your server if the rooftop bar, El Techo, is open and head there for a night cap and some lovely views of the city! read more

Lucky to have such a wonderful restaurant in Motto by Hilton Philadelpha, where I stayed during my trip to this city. Compared with the size of this hotel, the restaurant was large, occupying almost 3/4 of the first floor, with ~140 seats and very modernly designed. I had dinner there. Sat outside. Ordered Sikil P'ak (pumpkin seed dip) and Enpanadas De Camarones (shrimp enpanadas) as appetizer, and duck Enmoladas as entree. The serving sizes were quite generous; I ordered three because I covered 20mi+ before dinner. The dip in Sikil P'ak was said to be something like pumpkin seed puree, mixed with herbs and lime juice and topped with more herbs and whole pumpkin seeds. It was served cold and tasted creamy and juicy. The dish also came with 5 slices of spiced cucumber, 10 slices of spiced apple, 5 slices of red pepper and some lettuce. It was great to have it with the dip. The Enpanadas De Camarones looked different from traditional enpanadas, especially that the shell was quite thin and not very crispy. Inside there was diced shrimp, spring onion, cliantro, which created a rich combination of flavor. My favorite dish was the duck Enmoladas, basically it was three huge duck enchiladas with mole sauce, served with some rice and veggie. The mole sauce was authentic and amazing. Dense, smelled fresh, and had layers of distinct flavors! The duck and rice were also cooked just right. Service was quick and good. My server explained in detail the foods for me (even though I am quite familiar with most Mexican foods :), asked me about the experience of each dish (and even my stay in the hotel), and was always polite and welcoming. Another interesting thing was the two customers sitting next to me were also fans of Mexican food so we had some great conversation during the meal haha! read more

This place has the best happy hour and has amazing wings, like you wouldn't expect such great value. They do vary in spice sometimes so just take that as a note. The sauce they come with is good as well. I thought the tacos during happy hour were just OK and they want you to order them all at once. We had a waiter suggest certain dishes that personally I don't think we're the best choices... So idk about his tastes lol. Their margaritas are tasty as well. Highly recommend the happy hour. The bartender was a little snooty but warmed up throughout the night. We started with some margs which were strong but delicious. I laughed because we ordered "el nacho" thinking it was nachos and it was literally two chips with nacho fixings on top. The ribs were good but needed wayyyy more meat on them. The fish tacos were cooked nicely but so bland. I put lots of hot sauce on it to spice it up. I was staying at the Motto by Hilton Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square. I was excited when I heard there was a roof-top bar on the hotel. Took the elevator up, once the doors opened, it was pretty loud. I walked over to the bar, it seemed a bit disorganized and there were 3 bartenders working. Also, when I finally got their attention, I placed my order. Sadly the bartenders weren't super friendly. Not much conversation either, but it was kind of busy though. So I understand. I was given two drink vouchers for my Hilton Hotel Status. There were fees attached with redeeming them which I believe came to $11.20. I had 2 Tiki drinks, but they had way too much ice in them, and they weren't particularly tasty. (See video included in review) I finally got a table away from the bar since it was took hectic, the view was nice, but the table area was pretty sticky and the floor too. Be aware they currently charge Gratuity (20.00%) and a Kitchen Service Fee (3.00%). I'm not sure if I will come back here again, even with the drink vouchers. read more

I searched the Rittenhouse area looking for a restaurant willing to accomodate a large group on their arrival for the 2022 ANCC Magnet Conference. I reached out to the short list of bookmarked places, and most required booking a private room and choosing a pre fixe menu. I emailed Condesa directly, and Stephen reached out and not only allowed me to reserve in the main dining with the full menu, but he agreed to allow seperate guest checks. I arrived early for our 7PM reservation with two colleagues while waiting for others to arrive. We found 3 seats at the bar and were able to enjoy happy hour drinks. My friends enjoyed their expertly crafted mezcal margaritas, while I savored a fine Siembra Ancestral tequila. When all arrived, we were shown to a long table set for twelve. The variety of cocktails ordered ranged from their Siete, Ocho, Nueve, to Diez. Unaware of anyone ordered the Seis. Unanimous yesses from all. My diez was a perfect 10! Bourbon, mezcal, tamarind pasilla syrup, and mole bitters melded into one delicious approachable Oaxacan Old Fashioned. Appetizers shared were the guacamole and tostadas de Atun. Baskets of fresh tostadas with a trio of delicious salsas (rojo, verde, ancho chile) and the cocktails had us all lost in reverie that we neglected for quite some time to even look st the menu for entrees. As for the main dishes, the 12 empty plates made a statement about the quality of the food. I had the Enmoladas (mole duck), gave a companion a taste, and she went back 2 nights later just for that dish. The one non-meat eater in the group thoroughly enjoyed the chile relleno. A home cook declared the pollo asado "valid". Tacos of all varieties also enjoyed by all. The experience, inclusive of service, food and drink quality, hospitality, and accomodations for a boisterous group far exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Condesa for a group or smaller dining experience. Hit up the happy hour, then slide into a feast for eyes and palate. read more

Condesa is on the ground floor within the Motto by Hilton Hotel. I don't usually enjoy hotel restaurants (they're usually overpriced and pretty bland), but Condesa exceeded my expectations. Staff was very friendly and knowledge about the menu on both of my visits (one during happy hour and once late night after a work meeting). I had a variety of small plates and the enmoladas. The small plates definitely stood out strong to me (especially the chicharrones) while the enmoladas were good but not spectacular. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come here, but if you're staying in the area or at the hotel, it is a solid option. read more
