I was amazed to read the response by Cary C. regarding issues with my laptop. He is correct in stating that I did not act on the diagnosis of the motherboard. The motherboard had nothing to do with the problem, as a subsequent fix by a local reapir shop verified. I just didn't trust "Computers and More" given their trouble shooting track record. As it turns out, I was correct. Cary also correctly notes that I stopped payment on a payment to them. This is true. I stopped a $300+ payment for a new screen I did not need and only after I discussed the issue with Cary and he offered no recourse. Finally, Cary states " We tried but the customer did not want to talk about a resolution to the laptop issue. The customer also had a bad aggressive attitude that we did not appreciate" This is a total falsehood. No resolution was offered by this company. There was no discussion at all regarding alternatives, simply a message to pick up my computer. As to my displaying a "bad aggresive attitude" I am sorry that my pushback in the face of this company's incompetence and poor service was reported this way. This was no doubt due to my action to stop payment for an expensive part replacement that was no necessary. This response from "Computers and More" is keeping with my entire experience with them, disingenuous and unprofessional. read more

Jerry, their technician, came out to the house to determine what we needed. He was so helpful and patient with our lack of knowledge and we worked together to decide what needed to be replaced. The next day he returned with the new equipment. After installing everything, he sat down with me and took me through all the changes. He could not have been more patient. After we went through everything, we switched and he had me go through everything on my own to make sure I really understood how the new system worked. He was a great teacher. Uopdate~ (* HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE*) after hiring a much more professional comp company, he informed me the software was not installed properly as they claimed, Furthermore, Yahoo and outlook have a 2 stage password auth step to establish clearance, on mac and windows, had they known this, it would've probably been possible install. Also, who ever responded to my original review, states he showed me the software was installed, which is nothing short of a "LIe".The tech Andrew was alone the entire work day, and told me several times how backed up the shop was. I did not have a back up system then and would have lost all of my business and personal data. This started out reasonably well with a $120 estimate to remove a hard drive from a failed HP computer and copy what could be retrieved to a portable USB hard drive that I supplied. I had to call every other day or so to find out what was going on. Over the phone, the job escalated to a data recovery process without a discussion of the increased costs involved, my fault for not getting everything in writing. The end result was a charge of $298.50 and no data recovered. The owner Cary Colett reached out and explained the situation and sent a $50 check as a partial refund. I appreciate the refund and acknowledge that Cary is a responsible small business owner that I would do business with in the future. read more

I would like to share my experience with computers plus. Took my laptop in because it wouldn't power up. This was early morning, was told that I would be getting a call between 2 and 3pm. At 2 pm I had to pick up my dog from the Vet which is about a mile down the road. After I picked up the dog I figured well I'm in the area so I'll stop in and see what the status is. Walked in at 2:30pm and was told that they haven't had a chance to look at it but that I will get a call before the end of the day. At 3:30pm I'm getting a call saying that it was a simple fix, something had come loose and that I could pick it up. He also told me that they're charging me for an hour and a half. Next day when I went to pick it up I asked why I'm being charged for 1 1/2 hours when I was in at 2;30 and told it hadn't been touched to 3:30 when I was told it was all done. Talked to the owner and he tells me next time take it to Best Buy. Not exactly the best way to make the customer want to come back. read more

I had just bought a new laptop windows computer from Costco, and it had a ton of "bloatware" on the computer and I needed help removing all the unnecessary apps and software that would slow down the computer. I looked around for someone to help. Friends said they got a good response from the Geek Squad, so I contacted them. Some person in India said they could do it for $ 39.99. I did not believe them so I went to the Best Buy store in Santa Rosa to make sure they could do it for such a small amount. They said I got the wrong information and said it would cost $ 199.99 !!! I was not willing to pay that much, so I went on Yelp and found several local computer repair shops. Computers and More got back to me first and gave me a good price and answered all my questions. I dropped off the computer and the next day picked up the computer and it was all done and the bloatware had been removed. They even provided a link so I could easily set up the computer to link to my printer. These guys were excellent in handling my issues and providing me with a job well done. read more

My wife and I took her laptop in because it had been overheating. She was the customer, and we appreciated that Oran gave her all of his attention. He ran a quick test for the overheating and reported that the temperature was normal, and the fan was running strongly. (I had blown out as much dust as I could at home.) Just a word to the thrifty - I just had Computers and More replace the battery in my Chromebook. They charged me $145. Twenty-five dollars for the battery and $125 for the service charge, (plus tax). The $125 is their minimum charge I guess because it could not have taken that long to remove the 9 screws on the rear of the device and the four that hold down the battery. I consider it my fault as I didn't get a quote before hand. I only took it there because I didn't have the proper screw driver and because they are very close to me and it's all the way across town to have the Geek Squad at Best Buy do the work. Yesterday I purchased a Star Screw Driver set for 14 dollars @ Harbor Freight so the next time I can do the change-out myself. I almost feel violated by this rip-off repair facility . . . read more

We took our Dell Computer in to see it they could repair it. No problem, as it was done in a day and at a great price. It has never worked as good as it does now. We had taken it into Best Buy to see if the Geek Squad could repair it and they told us they couldn't . My cheap laptop that I bought at BestBut died. Of course the warranty was expired. This place was recommended to me. Tim diagnosed my laptop for free. It was fried beyond repair. He took the time to talk to me about what kind of laptop I needed to replace it. They had a refurbished one that fit my needs and price range. Tim offered to hang onto it for a week until I could afford it. He made sure it was all set. He took out my old hard rice and transferred everything over. I called and spoke with Tim who was great over the phone and told him my problem. He told me to bring in my computer and he was pretty sure he knew what was wrong. I did and he was spot on. My Canon laser jet printer stopped printing. It scanned the original but did not pass paper through. I looked on Yelp, found this business, and gave them a call. They let me know there was a modest diagnostic fee. I brought it in and the first question was did I unplug it and plug it back in. I know this works for computers, modems, etc. but I didn't think to apply it to printers. We plugged it in and the darn thing worked first time. And no charge for diagnostics. Now this job was as easy as they come, but he didn't know that at first. He did interrupt what he was doing to help me; he could have said leave it. The bottom line for me was that I was out of there in 5 minutes and my printer worked. Some businesses have an instant feel when you walk in, good or bad. He could have easily charged my 120 because thats what I came in prepared to pay, but he was honest with me and I ended up only having a minor issue that costed 40 to fix. This is a great place. I took my old mac pro in that the Apple store said I could no longer upgrade. I was fearing the worst, but my son liked these folks so I went. What a relief. They said my computer was perfectly fine and I just needed some clean up and a new hard drive. What a difference! It's really fast now even with ATT service.
