AND of course, I freaked out. I called a few businesses but was impressed by Leonard's quick and straight forward diagnosis and his availability, as in, I have some time right now and he's local which I like. "I can look at it in a few days" doesn't work when your computer goes down=our lives now (for better or worse). He was able to retrieve everything off my hard drive and it's on an external hard drive now, and replaced my hard drive with one he described as indestructible and apparently so because this was years ago and this little Toshiba with the new high capacity hard drive is still doing fantastic. He came and picked up the laptop so he could try to diagnose the issue. Well, after testing it and looking at it, he said there was nothing wrong. And the darn thing was charging for him! Doh! He promptly dropped my laptop back the next day and wasn't going to bill me because there was no issue to repair. But, given the efforts he had put in and the driving back and forth, it didn't feel right so I gave him something to say thanks because he absolutely deserved it. AND....not sure if he gave the thing a pep talk but my laptop has been working perfectly since then. Dan is professional, communicative and timely. All things I really appreciate in anyone, especially a vendor. His initial quote on the repair costs was also very reasonable and I appreciated that he said he would let me know if it would cost more than the quote and that he would get my approval before doing any repairs. I highly recommend reaching out to Dan to for help with any hardware or software issues you may be experiencing with your tech. If you need anything else, I'd go elsewhere…read more I was told that my computer would take a couple of days, and that this would be a fixing of the computer - as in maintaining my programs - not a reformat / system recovery via the computer manufacturer's recovery discs. Well, instead of a day or two, it was about three or four days before they even looked at it. They couldn't fix it, and instead reformatted and ran the recovery discs -- something that frankly, I could've done on my own. Also - it was about three weeks until the system crashed again, and ended up at a different shop for repair. Beyond all this, when I would call, I was given an attitude. In fact, when I went to pick it up, I was addressed by a rude comment, "Oh, so you're the FAMOUS Mr. Myers." Really? Incredibly rude, and the woman having the audacity to say that after charging me a hefty amount and doing a not-so hot job on the computer - crazy. Again, they did do some data recovery for me on a few crapped out hard drives, and that was OK, which is why they avoided the one star review. That said, I wouldn't go there again -- look through my other reviews to see where I found that did a better job, faster, and cheaper.
