He knows what he's talking about, lays out all your options and doesn't pressure you into anything. Very knowledgeable and honest.

Jay was very knowledgeable and was able to fix the problem with my iMac at a fraction of what Apple charged.

I'm writing this because I crashed my phone into a boulder while running a steep rocky trail, had…read moreto get online for the number, and happened to use yelp. I noticed there were only 4 stars, which surprised me, so I read through the 5-stars to the 1-star. What I found is a guy who tried to sell a refrigerator (a laptop) to an Eskimo (Vince). Vince is not a laptop guy. Maybe he's heard from chiropractors like me how laptops destroy the neck and prevent healing. And I have to ask: Why didn't the guy go to a store that dealt in laptops, AND, if that laptop was so good, why was the guy getting rid of it? Logical guess is that it was stolen and a person who dealt in laptops was more likely to figure that out. Maybe Vince was being a good guy and willing to spend $200 to turn it over to the cops and get the guy busted. And if it wasn't hot, Vince was going to have to sell it at an irresistibly low price because people don't come to Computer Addiction looking for laptops. Okay, now for my experience! After wandering through computer vendors for years, I wandered into Computer Addiction 15+ years ago and have been going back there ever since. My only dissatisfaction is when Vince, the owner, isn't there. Jeffy is good, the other guys before him were good, but Vince is so thought-provoking and fun to work with that I always sigh when it's not him. I'm very basic in my computer needs, not into spending a bunch of money for a top-flight setup, and Vince always has an economical repair, an economical upgrade, or an economical refurbished computer to keep me functional. That's all I ask and all I want. GUEST EDITORIAL: If all of the ratings are 5-stars, except for one 1-star, it's time to think there's something wrong with the 1-star.

They asked me to pay labor + replacement parts; evidently it came with no warranty for easily dropping off at the shop and they fix the PC they built for free, or reduced rate at least. The second one's board went bad after about eight months. They couldn't diagnose it I guess, because it worked poorly only on occasion. I had done some Google research about the Windows error messages it was giving and I knew it was an issue with the board. I took it to them thinking maybe this time they would support their product. Nope ... They charged me labor for re-installing Windows (in fairness, they did make HDD back-up, for me); however, it started erroring-out with same error codes again after not too long. This time when I took it back, I told them about my Google research and then they said they would replace board, for labor and parts. Ugh ... They have three stars, only because they use standard architecture and did use good part brands. I question whether maybe they were refurbished parts (hence the high percentage of melt-downs??) and I don't like how they lead me to believe that they would support their product and then charged me parts and labor to fix what normally should be warranty repairs, if you bought a Dell, or other large company with better warranty terms. They recently moved to Palm & 49, where Books Aloud used to be.

They kindly informed me that I could mail it someplace out of state and, for an exorbitant fee ($1000+), have some genius guru recover the contents of the hard drive. I was a broke graduate student at the time, but I thought that I was going to have to go into debt and take their advice because I needed to access my dissertation. Fortunately, I decided to have my brother-in-law take a look at it before mailing it off. To be fair, he also works as a computer technician. He was able to recover the entire hard drive, but he expressed shock when I told him that the Sundance folks told me they couldn't do it. He said that it was not an especially complicated or rare issue, and certainly didn't warrant mailing to another state and paying a high recovery fee. When I returned to Sundance and requested a partial refund, they treated me rather rudely and dismissed my complaint. Though their initial customer service was decent, I would NOT return to them and would advise all others to steer clear of their path.

If you need data recovery, Doctor PC is fine. If you need anything else, I'd go elsewhere…read more I was told that my computer would take a couple of days, and that this would be a fixing of the computer - as in maintaining my programs - not a reformat / system recovery via the computer manufacturer's recovery discs. Well, instead of a day or two, it was about three or four days before they even looked at it. They couldn't fix it, and instead reformatted and ran the recovery discs -- something that frankly, I could've done on my own. Also - it was about three weeks until the system crashed again, and ended up at a different shop for repair. Beyond all this, when I would call, I was given an attitude. In fact, when I went to pick it up, I was addressed by a rude comment, "Oh, so you're the FAMOUS Mr. Myers." Really? Incredibly rude, and the woman having the audacity to say that after charging me a hefty amount and doing a not-so hot job on the computer - crazy. Again, they did do some data recovery for me on a few crapped out hard drives, and that was OK, which is why they avoided the one star review. That said, I wouldn't go there again -- look through my other reviews to see where I found that did a better job, faster, and cheaper.
