Machero should be rated as Chicago's best Mac repair store…read more Its a class act like this among all the sneaky ones in the world that reaffirm there are good, decent, and honest people left in this world. My Mac's screen sizzled and then went dead after some water damage. I took the Mac to Apple and off course those self serving geniuses immediately told me my Mac is history and I would need to rebuild the entire circuit board for 900.00 or get a new computer. I was bummed and did nothing for month until I realized there is life outside apple care. So I called a few places on yelp and didn't get some good vibes. Most of them wanted to charge me non refundable fees to see if they can fix it and some over the phone also said i needed a new circuit board. So my intuition told me to call Machero and they told me to bring it in for free estimate, no obligation. I figured worse case they would tell me what the others did about a circuit board. An hour after I brought it in, Gino tells me the only thing that was damaged was some memory chips and he can repair everything for under $100.00 total. Now, let me reiterate. I know as much about Macs as I do about astrophysics so he could have told me the bogus b.s. the other places told me and taken me to the cleaners Instead, his focus was on me as a person, not me as a number, or a receipt. Maybe if more businesses and their owners were as decent and ethical as he was, they'd be in business and not part of our financial fiasco. So let me save you time and money and headaches. Be like NIKE: Don't think, just do it, and if you have a Mac issue, bring it in for some real people skills in fixing your mechanical ones.

Gino is sweet! And I kind of want to leave the review at that, but I guess I'll say a little more…read more In all honestly, I didn't go to Gino for Mac help, but I know he rules the business. Gino and I got in touch because of an event I was running for FreshBooks. I needed a space and wanted to spend as little money as possible. I reached out to some of our customers in Chicago and Gino was SO awesome to get back to me super quickly and offer up his space to host our workshop. He worked with me to secure catering, audio-visuals and anything else I needed. Srsly -- ANYTHING! I needed a bunch of chairs and rental places weren't down with renting only 50. He got in touch with a nearby church and helped us arrange a donation to its after school program. AND helped me carry and drive over the chairs throughout one of the city's first snowfalls of the year. Incredible. Gino was the best host ever and I'm basically spoiled for out-of-town events for the rest of my life. Best dude. Best.

Mark Lebowitz is a caring and intuitive IT tech…read more I was starting to panic after 2 weeks of no wifi in my home. Comcast had run new cable from the pole but when the problem continued, it became my fault, not theirs. I scrambled to find an independent IT contractor and after a few failed attempts, called Lebowitz IT Services. He ran a "ping test" diagnosis on my modem (which I lease from Comcast) and while the signal was strong, there were inconsistencies that could have been enough to interrupt my service. I then insisted Comcast send another tech and sure enough, that was the problem. They actually had to "dumb-down" my modem to an older model that was more tolerant of the inconstancies. I can certainly recommend Mark for any home business IT work.

Each time, they have immediately addressed the issue, and fixed it, with a reasonable charge. Even when someone said they could not (3 companies including Geek Squad, etc.) retrieve the lost data, they did. It is very difficult to find an honest company who understands the urgency of the situation. To underscore the owners honesty, recently I called about an issue, and rather than charge me, he took 20 minutes to tell me how to resolve it -as it was a GoDaddy issue, and again, Problem fixed. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!!!!

I called ElectroGeek and Randy was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. He gave me directions on what to have set up for him when he came to my house the next day (a house call...unbelievable!). Randy advised me on what type of new computer I should purchase. Randy arrived on time the following day and a few hours later I was up and running with all of my files and my new computer set up correctly. What makes this extra special is that other companies told me I would probably lose everything. I feel very lucky to have found Randy/ElectroGeek and I have already recommended him to many other potential clients not only for repairs when you need him but to have him check out their computer to make sure everything is backed up and your system is set up correctly and is efficient as it should be.

So he took my laptop and external hd to try to get the data from it. Unfortunately, it was fried pretty badly, but they work with another company that specializes in data recovery. I had my important data backed up already, so i decided to get a new computer all together bc i compromised on the original one that fried out. Figured i would just get the one i really wanted.
