I'm a Benicia local and always try to support local businesses but twice I've been turned away from here and always end up at Computers Corner for computer help. Great service! My laptop was infected with virus and he diagnosed it and fixed it for great and reasonable cost. I love his store filled with great memories in the 70's, 80's and maybe some 90's. He has a great collections of my fave 80's movies and soundtracks that brought a lot of great memories. I encourage people to visit his store for some nostalgia. Maybe browse, purchase, reminisce, get your computer repaired or just do them all. I remember as I walked in and discussing my laptop issues and at the corner of my left eye, I see an album that was one of my favorite 80's in movies...it was called "Some Kind of Wonderful". Our cat knocked a juice glass into my daughter's gaming tower leaving fan, GRU and interior covered in sticky juice resulting in loss of video connection altogether. 5 stars for honest business practice! My laptop is headachingly slow. Trying to do anything on it becomes unbearable because it's so slow. I finally got fed up and brought it to computer 1. My family has been bringing our computers here for YEARS. The guy behind the counter kindly greeted me and i explained my issue he looked over my computer and let me know that it's a slow (cheap) processor. He explained how they could swap out parts but it would save me more money to just buy a new computer. He could have completely taken advantage of me charged me this and that but he didn't! Honest business practice is worth 5 stars alone! I called asking for help with simply installing two keyboard keys. I have the parts and a video to show them. I figured it was a pretty simple thing to do, especially for someone who knows computers. They couldn't help and said they only do the whole keyboard. That makes no sense to me. I was referred to someone else, which I did appreciate. I called them and they can't see me for a week. I'm very frustrated and disappointed. After I left my review, which was an accurate description of what happened, I was asked repeatedly by Dan Graf to take my review down. I understand where he's coming from. I'm simply frustrated and just really want this fixed and assumed they'd help. So that was my fault. They extracted the data from my deceased hard drive and copied it into my new computer. They set up the desktop on the new machine, including antivirus software, and gave me a Windows 8 $.05 tour. I have really been amiss not writing a review, sharing my experiences of a man of great expertise, and a proficient business holding great integrity. I have been utilizing Dan (and the Computer 1's team) for all my computer repair and upgrade services for years, since the Computer Doctor early days, and continue to do so in confidence. Working in the healing arts, technical stuff is not my strength. Finding a computer person I CAN TRUST is huge to me. Dan not only holds my trust, he earned it. They had my computer up and running in two days, that is really good since both my Mac Pro's hard drive and DVD/CD rom were fried or damaged due to the repeated droppings. If you want your computer fixed (and guaranteed to be fixed), take it here. I took my laptop to another guy in town and though he was "nice," he could not figure out what was wrong with my computer. I took it to these guys and they figured out the problem within 5 minutes. Seriously - 5 minutes! True, I could have purchased a new laptop, but I'm not interested in Windows 8, and honestly - I just wanted my old one back. Bottom line: Come here, because they are good and guarantee their work. If you go somewhere else, make sure you ask what their policy is regarding money back guarantee, etc. I'm still working on getting my money back, I think it will work out but boy, what a pain! read more

I've got a gaming rig that I had still running on Windows 7. Something happened and corrupted the Windows install, I couldn't get it to take the restore disc, couldn't fix it myself - it was officially past my capacity to troubleshoot, so I brought it down to these guys. I had my baby back two hours later, with an upgrade to Windows 10 and with Win10 configured to be as close to Win7 as possible, because I had told them I was reluctant to switch off of Windows 7 at all. She's been running beautifully since I got her back and I couldn't be happier. Very reasonable price, quick service, if I run into something I can't fix again - on this computer or any other one - I'll definitely come back. (Also, the shop has some cool pieces of old tech hanging around, very neat if you're into that stuff at all. Dan looked over my laptop, it had stopped working a few days prior to me bringing it in. Told me a couple of things possibly why it wasn't working, told me the upfront costs, which I appreciated. Once it was fixed, contacted me as promised with the final cost in the vicinity of what was quoted. Was not disappointed. Had to go back to find something that I needed to do to connect to my tv a couple of days later. The staff were very helpful, took the time to set up the connection with no cost to me. I have had interactions with this shop twice now: in my hours of need they have been there to help at lower prices than anyone else I could find! First: I had a home-built external hard drive that I had made from my old computer when it broke (this external hard drive was built by my old computer guy). Of course: It broke. It had a nice life span of a year and traveled A LOT... but it broke. I took it in to Computer 1. They recovered all the files and advised me to go out and buy an external from Western Digital and bring it in to them: so they could transfer my files onto a new hard drive. I asked if they wanted to make me an external or if I should buy one at their shop?: They told me it was cheaper for me to go to best buy and to stick with Western Digital because it fit my needs. [First Encounter: Honest, Fast, Hassle-free] Second: My girl friend's computer got a virus from another friend's flash drive that they were using to transfer homework on. I am a very tech friendly person and ran a few virus scans and cleaned up the computer as much as I could; but the computer was still doing an auto shutdown every 2 minutes and obviously still had the virus. I knew I was out of my league. I called the shop, and explained what was happening. Over the phone they had me check a few "identifiers" that let them know that she did indeed get one of the newest virus' out there, and that if I had waited another day or done a few things (like empty the Temp Internet files etc)... she would have lost everything. It was a flat fee for them to recover the files, destroy the virus AND in general clean up her laptop! [Second Encounter: Fast, WILLING TO HELP OVER THE PHONE, Great Customer service and overall excellence] My Review is a SOLID 4 Stars. This might bump up to a 5 star rating in a few months after I have them build me a gaming rig. Since I have not had them build anything for me yet: I am going to stick with 4 Stars since I have not used ALL their services. Thanks for the Help! read more

I found this place through yelp. It had a bunch of very good reviews and I figured I'd give it a try. So here I am adding my 5 stars (I'd add more if I could) based on: 1) they didn't charge for the initial trouble shooting which is around $70 in most other places. The repair job itself was reasonably priced. 2) they didn't push to merely replace one of the aging hard drives, which would have cost me a whole lot more. 3) they did the work within a very short period of time. 4) this is a friendly place. No attitude, stuffiness or the I'm-the-expert-and-you-know-nothing stuff. Instead, everyone I talked to was really into what they're doing. In fact if this was a coffee shop, I'd hang out there. I feel fortunate we have a business like this one right here in Benicia and my money stays right here in our town. If there is a Proudly-owned-by sticker, this owner/place should have it. read more

My laptop died on me and these guys pulled my data for me. Which was great. And they were speedy, polite and professional. What could have given them a 5th star was if they had been able to push my data to the cloud so that I could download from my other computer, or at least sold memory storage on site.
