Sent them my PC with a fried CPU slot on the motherboard, they then purchased the wrong motherboard as a replacement, but gave me a "free" PCIE network adapter to make up for it. Not only did they not re-install the back plate of my PC case (leaving a giant hole in the back for dust to get in), but I later found out that the network adapter they gave me doesn't support Bluetooth, where as my old motherboard did, which I wasn't warned about... The price was UP THERE but probably fair, given that they replaced the whole motherboard, and while it took a long time, that was mostly due to them having to wait for the new motherboard to arrive. Still, the only reason I'm even willing to give two stars is the fact that it FUNCTIONS after they returned it. EDIT: Since yelp is annoying and doesn't let you(?) delete reviews. The bluetooth issue SEEMS to be an issue of my Windows install being borked, not at all Compu Computers' fault as far as I can tell. However, the entire situation was still incredibly annoying, so I can't bring my rating MUCH higher. read more

Horrible experience. Knew my acer laptop had a display issue I wanted to see what pricing they would offer for that fix. I had to call 48 hours later to get an update on it just for them to say it was a $800 motherboard issue. Complete bs, called again to pick up my device and received no answer for another 24 hours.....worst part is when I got home I used an hdmi cord and the laptop displays just fine on a monitor! Complete robbery if I would've allowed. They even offered to charge me $300 for the warranty service for them to manager support with acer....dont come here please learn from my experience read more

Definitely a ripoff, took a chromebook there screen was messed up had to put a deposit of 50.00 which was supposed to go towards it getting fixed, was then contacted a few days later claiming it would be 170 to fix minus the 50 i put, i went there paid 145 interesting considering it was supposed to be 120 the lady told me it was taxed and fees ok whatever! I pick my laptop up today and guess what its an additional 39 bucks for labor! So never ever again! This was a good place for me to find a refurbished replacement for my desktop which was on it's last legs. I was able to pick up a small desktop for only $150. I've had it for a few months and it runs fine. On price alone, I could have given it 5 stars, but i knocked it down a star based on the staff. They didn't seem to know too much about the products they sold. I had asked about a wi-fi adapter for the desktop and they only had 2. When I asked about the performance (ability to pick up wi-fi signals), they just said that they assumed it worked fine. In a small shop like this, I would expect that they would have tested the products they sell especially when they don't sell a large variety of products. If you only have two wi-fi adapters, you should know how each one performs in a household setting. That being said, I would definitely go back to buy another computer, but I just wouldn't expect much help if I had questions. read more

I was doing my first computer build, and forgot to order a WNIC for my tower. I couldn't wait to have one shipped to me, so I had to find a place that carried them in store. Other businesses didn't have them (even the large chains), but someone recommended Compu to me. I hadn't heard of them before (I am relatively new to the area), but since they were right down the street, I decided to pay them a visit. Sure enough, they had exactly what I was looking for. The staff was quick to greet me and see what I needed. They gave me exactly what I asked for, but unfortunately, I had asked for the wrong type of card. I returned about an hour later after realizing this, and was able to exchange it for the correct one (the employee double-checked for me to save me from a third trip). Prices matched whatever I could find online, as well, with the convenience of getting it right away. I'm impressed! One thing I do want to note is that although their website says they buy old electronics for cash or store credit, when I asked the employee who was helping me, I was told the exact opposite. I know electronics depreciate in value rather quickly, but I would have expected them to say 'yes' if their website says so. I'll be asking for clarification next time I visit. read more

I was a returning customer hoping that they will treat me fairly. I specially told then to install new monitor for my son's laptop because it was cracked. I am only able to see screen thru HDMI connections after I diagnosed and clean all the virus. They refused to replace my monitor because they said that the mother has water entry and it may not work. I already told them that the motherboard is good because I been using it thru HDMI connection to screen t.v. In short, they wanted me to pay for service that I do not need. I already informed them that I am willing to sign documents that I take responsibility, just install new screen. Charge me $50 for bullshit diagnosed, now my HDMI is intentionally broken so that I will buy new motherboards. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I stopped in because I just needed a cheap/inexpensive laptop to use with my PC-based oscilloscope for my job as an auto technician. Quality wasn't a huge factor, just something that had a cd drive, usb inputs, and wifi access. After talking to the employee for about 10 mins I decided on a refurbished laptop; $160 marked down $20. They had installed Windows 10. I get to my shop, and find that the laptop has a crack in the case, the wifi abilities are very short-range, and the battery is close to the end of its useful service life (the laptop itself was recommending a replacement soon). I can't complain too much because I only spent $160, but the bottom line is to not expect too much out of the "refurbished" laptops. Know why you need one in the first place. I come to find out that what he sold me only worked with windows 8. I tried to return it and he said that they only give store credit and also they did have in stock the part I needed. I see a lot of bad review on here. Well, I've bought a couple used desktops from them over the years and they worked just fine.

This is not a trustworthy business. I bought a video card for a 27" 2011 iMac from this store, and it failed in less than three weeks. I called to request a replacement (they said they had two others when I bought it) or a refund, but they didn't call me back. I also sent a message via their Ebay store, which is where the item had initially been listed. No response there either. I called again a week later, but the employee who answered the phone said that the owner would not issue either a replacement or refund due to a 14-day return policy. But the receipt said nothing about a 14-day return policy. And if something fails less than a week after that, they should make it right. I own a computer business, and that's what I would do in that situation. Certainly they shouldn't jerk me around and ignore me. They didn't even have the decency to call or message me to notify me of their supposed policy. On another note, when I was purchasing the card initially, I saw a woman and her son purchasing a laptop on layaway. It was clear that the money was meaningful to them, but they were being charged too much for a laptop with poor specs. As someone who could have helped them with a better computer for less money, it took restraint not to say anything. Bottom line - you can see the other poor reviews on Yelp. Bought some printers and a refurbished laptop. They gave me a discount for turning in 2 old, nonworking laptops. The staff is casual. They did give me the incorrect charger and I drove 45 minutes to get it resolved, but they told me I had to leave the laptop there. I drove 45 minutes back to work and then 45 minutes back to them to pick it up the next day, just to switch the charger. I'll still return for my future needs. read more

First of all I should have read the posted reviews, before I visited the location. However, a lesson learned is a lessons learned. I was looking for a laptop nothing fancy. As a senior and not being very "techy, I felt the clerk would offer excellent customer service. I came across a Dell inspiron 11 3000 series, with a price tag of $199.00 (note for the record one key cover was missing). The clerk located an adapter ($38) and turned the computer on, offering some basic information. When I made an inquire about the missing key cover, and age of the computer, (I now know the notebook came out in 2014), a small discount was applied. For some reason, I made a mental note in my mind in reference to the all the return policy notices posted in the established ( which did create some suspicion) but a business has the right to establish and mandate business practices to prevent loss (no problem). I purchased the laptop. When I went home and plugged the adapter into the computer the monitor came on and the message stated battery failure. I thought the computer just needed to charge, besides I just bought it, and there is NO WAY the clerk would sell me a laptop and NOT mention THE BATTERY IS USELESS ( so I left the charger on for a few days). Unfortunately, within a few days I was faced with a major health issue, and not knowing the laptop was not working properly I just put it to the side. Time passed and my health issue became manageable. So I decided to charge my laptop and use it. Again the battery message came up every time I turned it on ( I knew there was a problem). So I went back this week to the compu computers store seeking an answer. After the technician plugged the laptop in and pretended to be looking for the problem, that he knew existed when it was sold to me (my OPINIO !!). He stated it needs a battery-the cost $80.00. I stated its not worth it. This was a bad experience for me, based on the fact the seller knew the battery was useless and did not state that when it was sold to me. If the clerk had stated the laptop must be plugged in to use it because the battery was dead it would allowed ME THE CUSTOMER the opportunity to decide if I wanted the laptop under those conditions, and MY RESPONCE would have been NO THANK YOU. These guys just can't get things done. It took them over two weeks to replace a latch on our computer. After that, they couldn't find the right adapter to turn it on and said it was a problem with the motherboard. They ordered that and after another week, found out they ordered the wrong one. Still waiting on the new one so we told them to forget it and just put the computer back together and we will pick it up. They haven't done that in three days and said they need a manager to tell us how much we owe them for simply putting on a latch. Best Buy recommended these guys and we will certainly relay our thoughts to them. There are lots of places that do computer repair so look elsewhere. I brought my laptop computer into this business in March. I paid the repair fee, and when they told me that I needed to get the screen replaced, I paid for that as well even though it cost more than a screen replacement normally would have. However, when I picked it up I discovered that there was debris inside the screen. They thought that it must have been introduced when the screen was replaced and, after I brought it back a second time, they cleaned it for no extra charge. However, when I picked it up I noticed that there was still debris under the screen which I pointed out to them at the time. The employee in the store saw it and agreed with me that that was the case and that it needed to be resolved. However I had already waited quite some time to get my laptop back which I needed for work and indicated that I could not leave it that day. Later I discovered that the computer was actually not properly assembled and there was a huge opening in the top which is presumably where the dust was getting in. I called about this in early April and talked to someone on the phone. They looked up my case by name. They did not mention that I was very close to the end of the warranty period. I did not have the extended length of time that I could be without this computer that I use on a nearly daily basis for work until now. Even though this is a problem that was caused by mistakes made in their own repair process, they were never able to resolve it with urgency or prioritize it. So I had to wait until I had at least a week available for them to take it. But when I brought it in, they said that it had been too long since I had originally brought it in and that they would not even give me a discount on the repair. Even though they caused it and acknowledged as much not only well within the warranty but the day I picked it up, before I even brought it home. The worst company I have ever dealt with in my 25 years in the computer & electronics industry. They use substandard materials to build their computers. When a problem arises they try to charge you full price on repairs. Compu Computers used substandard components to build my computer. The workmanship & service were awful. The manager said he would give me 20% off I asked to speak with the owner. I was told he had no way of getting in touch with the owner. He did not have his number and the owner would not talk to customers. I asked him to explain the situation to the owner and asked him to waive the charges. I had to return to the store on 3 more occasions to try to remedy the situation. On my second return I asked when the owner would be in and was told his schedule varies. I waited for over an hour to speak with the owner but he never showed. The manager repeatedly went upstairs to use the phone. I believe to call the owner. After a third visit the manager had an employee ask me to pay $25 and escort me out of the store. I was told Compu was not interested in any of my future business. Once I brought the computer home I noticed Compu had scratched out the numbers on the Microsoft Proof of License Certificate of Authenticity sticker. My computer again began to freeze, re-boot & operate only in Safe Mode within a month of the "repairs". I returned to Compu & asked for a refund. I was told there is nothing they could do for me. I have since taken the computer to another place for repair. Here is a list of the issues: 1) There is no Microsoft Windows 7 COA therefore the software is likely pirated. 2) The technician used mixed RAM(different pairs) which caused the computer to have memory issues. 3) The Nvidia chip used on the motherboard has a known flaw which causes overheating issues and warped the motherboard. Yet Compu still used the warped motherboard in my computer. 4) The hard drive used has in excess of 30,000 hours(a very high amount to use for a resold computer). The computer was not "worth" repairing per the new computer repair company I asked to look at it. I was informed by the technician the computer should have NEVER been sold in this condition. read more

Alright, so get this. My Uncle mistakenly sold the wrong laptop to them on. He thought it was an old broken one that we told him he could have toell. He actually sold my sister's boyfriend's laptop, BY MISTAKE. When he sold it, they told him he had 14 days to change his mind if he wanted it back. We figured out what happened, and went up today to get it back. We explained the situation to THE OWNER and he outright refused to give it back, we had the money the store gave my Uncle and were willing to return it, we even offered to outright buy the computer at a price they named. Ok, so we pick up the computer, and sure enough...the price at pick up was about $100.00 MORE than what we were quoted. There was no explanation of how the sectors became 'bad', and I was told that "sometimes, they just do that" even after I had ran a chkdsk, scndsk, and Kaspersky ran successfully, prior to drop off at shop. Well, they fixed the computer, added a new hard drive (terrabyte for the price of a 500 gig, which was a pretty good deal, imo), and the computer runs, is quieter and faster. I have given this vendor 2 stars due to lack of communication (volunteered communication, without being prompted by my calls), sketchy details of they hows and whys something occurred and the increased price (other than prior quoted price) at pick up. They are pleasant staff and always willing to attempt to answer questions. It was the delayed time in getting the computer back (dropped off 8/13, picked up 9/4) as we were told it would be 10 days to do the whole process, in their words "worst case scenario". If you're on them constantly and call repeatedly, then, it's true what they say...'the squeaky wheel gets the grease', and this seems true, sadly, in this case.
