The excuse was that there was a shooting at a different location many weeks prior.. but they failed to explain why my laptop was with them for 2 weeks before anyone did a diagnostic. It ended up costing $180 dollars and instead of fixing the issue, they permanently broke my graphics card. I have been a customer Of Comprite in Lake O for years. The story now is that a roof leak caused them to close the Lake O store. Funny, that since Thanksgiving the owner has not repaired the roof... also the Holgate location is closed because of a robbery... so I schlepped all the way to Clackamas for a "5 minute" diagnostic on my phone. The place is a mess, crowded with tons of old and dead equipment. I am used to seeing tech stores be neat and tidy. There were tons of handwritten notes all over everything-fixtures, the walls, equipment. The place smelled and the floor was dirty. There were lots of people waiting to drop off or pick up equipment, all being told the same thing " just 5 more minutes". Finally, I had been waiting over an hour for my phone so I stood up and picked up all my things. Amazingly, my phone was ready. I paid $89 and have fingers crossed that the intermittent problem I had is fixed. Never again!! read more

I called this store, asking if they had mounting screws for my new SSD. The fellow I spoke to said "yes", so I made a trip. When I got there, I described my SSD: 2.5-inch, requiring M3 x 5mm screws. They were kind enough to give me 4 screws, free of charge. But the screws they gave me were not at all the right size. Later, I went to a hardware store, got screws meeting the spec, which fit perfectly. I was surprised to have gotten the wrong screws, because these SSDs are a very standard item. read more

This place is very disorganized with only one (friendly) person handling intake and outgoing. Items promised were not done on time even on third visit. I gave the passwords on the back of an envelope supplied. They later claimed they did not work ( they did). Furthermore the repairs( No listed pricing by the way but an addition mistake in their favor) were not effective as the same problem still exists, if a bit fewer times a day.. read more

CompRite on SE Sunnyside is my "go to" place for computer repair. I have been going there for over 15 years. Paul, the owner, knows electronics of all types. Yesterday, I had an issue with logging in. I am fairly knowledgable with computers and began to suspect a virus. I called CompRite to run a diagnostic. They were swamped when I dropped it off. Later, I found it might be password related and drove over to show what I found. Paul directed me to the tech in the back..Tony. I talked to Tony, showed him what I found. I discussed several anti-virus programs. He was VERY patient, listened well, showed me some software I hadn't known about! We had a few laughs re some of my gaming programs. Overpriced, rude, and incompetent. After using these guys for multiple repairs I have discovered they are overcharging $50-200 for various repairs over other more reputable shops in town. The last straw was taking advantage of my 19 year old and doing a half assed iPhone repair. The phone literally fell apart after only 30 days of use and now we're taking it to another shop since "Alex" said that they'll fix the phone but did not offer a refund on their overpriced work and if there was any incidental damage we would have to pay MORE. Buyer beware. A few weeks ago, I inquired about buying a used iPad and was told they had one for $499 (it was 3 generations old!) You can buy the same model today Apple refurbished for $299. This is my very first review on Yelp, and I don't usually give out reviews, but this place was just so unprofessional that I had to write one. If I can give ZERO STARS, I would have! I am suprised and shocked by the positive reviews in here actually LOL. Definitely NOT the place if you're looking for a repair that's Professional, because this place is totally UNPROFESSIONAL when it comes to handling their services. Had to drop my Razer blade laptop for a cracked screen, it took about 3 days before I've decided to just take it back. Since they "couldn't find" the screen to order and repair it. So I just asked for a diagnostic/estimate letter for my insurance so they can process it, I paid him $85, and told me he'll call me back when it's done and send it to my e-mail. 24 hours later, still no call and e-mail! So I gave him a call, and told me that they're still working on it coz they're still putting a logo to make it look "professional" LOL! Eventually he said he'll just give me a refund and give the letter for FREE. But guess what, I followed up twice for the estimate/diagnostic letter, and it NEVER ARRIVED NOR THEY FOLLOWED UP. So I gave up, and took my laptop to another store called NerdsToGo in Milwaukie, and got an estimate/diagnostic letter within 1 hour! They checked me in quick, professional, and kept me updated, with invoices and such! Total opposite from CompRite! Let me break it down to you how it's like in th3 store as well, the moment you get in: -There is no such thing as a line or first come first served basis. The moment you enter the store, there is a mixture of people waiting to be seen, waiting for their repairs, asking for inquiries, & complaining. Paul the store owner jumps in between people, and when he sees you, his attention is not fully with you. He'll be taking calls, texting talking to other people and his staff. I was there for 1.5 hours, when we could have been finished in about 15 minutes if he just stayed with me and not jump around his store! What I think this store services: -They mainly just do phone screen repairs, LCD/LED replacement, and Buy & Sell kinda thing. But anything complex that needs an actual pro, they can't do it. They're kinda like a DIY repair store or pop up stores you see in the malls. Kinda surprised they have their own store for a very unprofessional service. -BUT Paul will try to convince you that they can fix your device, they just have to "diagnose" it first, then what comes afterwards is poor communication, delays, mishaps, and phrases like "we're still working on it". He's a smooth talker, so he'll probably convice you, good thing I caught on to it early. So should you go to this store? For basic repairs, sure. But for customer service and experience, complex work and professional service and communication? AVOID this place to save yourself from a headache! read more

I've been here on a few occasions and have not had my needs met on a single visit. Owner is generally respectable, but loves to chat and tends to lead the conversation on in great length all while promising that they'll do all they can to help you, but making countless excuses as to why they are unable to. I can't sell anything here, nor have any devices repaired. If I leave a device for repair there is zero contact unless you physically go in and check on the device, which more often than not hasn't even been touched since drop off a week prior. TLDR: Good for phone repairs and that's about it. Complex problems are beyond them. I honestly don't even know what to say about this place. I understand it's a small, family run business/operation but holy crap. I brought my computer in as I was having multiple blue screen errors and was told they'd do everything they could to fix the issue. During the five days that my tower was being worked on, I called multiple times hoping to receive an update. The only answer I got was that they were stress testing and doing data recovery.. For five days? It took me 15 minutes to eventually do it myself. I finally go in to pick it up and I was told my wd blue ssd was no longer functioning and that they installed a Samsung 970 evo plus to replace it. The owner sold it to me at a 50% discount and now I know why. The damn thing has a faulty vector and won't let me install my OS on it. The main reason I'm even taking the time to write this review is because I want to replace the faulty part they sold me but nobody has returned my calls. The part is covered by manufacture warranty but I need the proof of sale from whomever originally purchased it. Ive reached out twice now and have patiently waited for 11 days for at least SOME type of response. I figured this 1 star review might get their attention more than calling multiple times. I literally just want the receipt so I can fix their mistake and never have to deal with this place again. read more

Top notch! Highly recommend. I had my screen replaced on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. They were friendly and helpful from my phone call to them to see when I could have my phone fixed all the way through the drop off and pick up. They fixed my phone the same day in the timeframe they provided for a competitive price with factory parts. Took my laptop in to replace the magnetic hard drive with an SSD drive. The office was total chaos with very little process and very cluttered. The owner was dodging back and forth between customers, and seemed to be the only one at the desk. Took much longer to get back than promised - and while it ran ok for a while, started having issues after five months. After taking the computer elsewhere, it was discovered that my old drive had been replaced with a counterfeit SSD drive (labeled SSD but actually a standard magnetic drive). Long story short, I will be looking to get my money back. Avoid! read more

After speaking with him and figuring out my phone number had a few digits transposed which explained the communication gap, he went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and satisfied with my experience, which is something a lot of companies just don't do these days. I just went to Comprite in Clackamas today because the letter e on my laptop keyboard was barely working when I pressed it. They determined the connection had worn down, and so they replaced it, and while they were at it, they cleaned the inside and outside of the entire keyboard. They charged me their minimum $149 rate but told me that if it continued to give me problems in the future, they'd put the money I paid today toward the labor for replacing the keyboard. Paul is a great and well meaning business man. He goes out of his way to help others. How he runs his business isn't as polished and organized as most other places, but he does deal with a lot of unusual issues when it comes to computer/phone/electronics repair. I have used his services twice and both were consistently chaotic. He bounces from customer to customer and has a great memory of what he discusses with each of them. There's a lot of waiting, a lot of calls and a lot of coming back to the store. When you are able to speak with him, you do feel taken care of and feel he really does care. The best thing I can say about Paul and his Comprite Clackamas location is that he's a great people person. The operations of his business could use some polishing. At the end of the day, he get's the job done. Just expect that it may take longer than you and him expected. There's no need to make promises that you can't guarantee. Just remember that people have busy lives and having to wait around or come back into the store multiple times could turn people away. Originally went to Best Buy with a cracked screen repair job for my HP Laptop (non-touch screen). Was told that it would take 3-4 weeks and would cost close to the original price of my laptop. No way. I found CompRite after walking past their location on Foster and was referred to the Sunnyside location. Store has a laid back atmosphere and can get kinda busy with customers standing around, but I found it to be worth the wait. Paul fixed my screen within a matter of days and at an affordable price. I brought in three computers, two of which they installed some virus protection services and "cleaned". My third computer I accidentally brought in- a computer I had been told repeatedly was dead to the world and no data would come off of it (it had been sitting in my closet for years). They told me they would give it a try, and lo and behold- they got all sorts of data off of it!! They even found what was with it- and while I decided it wasn't worth it to me (again, I had written it off years ago and since bought a new computer), I was incredibly grateful to have all sorts of pictures and old documents to look through...
