I took it to Wolfie who deftly disassembled the entire machine, discovered that I had the wrong keyboard, then built up a replacement with pieces from the old and new keyboards. This can basically render printers permanently useless. An HP trick to get customers to buy their more expensive ink cartridges. He suggested that we return all cartridges for a full refund immediately. We had to purchase a new printer. Scott was extremely helpful, patient and kind. Never tried to sell us anything. Was on my way to Safeway when I walked by fixoid, which is conveniently right next door. I came in to get a quote for my iPhone and I was impressed with how clean and nice the store layout was, not to mention the exceptional customer service I received. Their prices were totally reasonable and I knew I was going to come back for sure to get my phone screen replaced. The person at the front desk sounded very knowledgeable and professional, they will definitely get my business!! While I was in the store I just look around and they had a bunch of accessories and phone cases, and I did buy a few accessories which was really cool to have such convenient access to. I had a terrible accident on the coast with my wife when I dropped my phone in the water while taking photos. Have had great service from CompRite regardless of who did the work. They replaced iPhone and iPad screens, repaired a laptop, upgraded one MacBook Pro hard drive to SSD, and, just this week, Eric replaced a bad battery and the hard drive in another MacBook Pro. Looking forward to many years of use for these upgraded MacBook Pros rather than buying new! Turnaround has always been good, sometimes a little longer than I'd wish but they came through on committed dates. Pricing is reasonable, you can always find cheaper but I've had bad luck cutting corners on cost rather than getting OEM and quality parts and high level service. I was working on reapplying thermal paste to my overheating laptop and inadvertently stripped several tiny 2mm screws that were extremely hard to find. None of the other computer repair shops acted like it was worth their time to help. After all you can't make much money from selling screws. A couple of screws seems like no big deal, but when you're trying to get your gaming laptop back together it takes on another significance. The gentleman at the front desk took a good bit of his time to find the screws that I was looking for and didn't even charge. Little things like that always go a long way to make you appreciate the level of customer service. read more

While we were there, they also replaced my dad's phone battery, and even though we didn't buy the screen protector from them, they still installed it for us with no problem. I took in a computer that wasn't charging--after the diagnostic (and many days of the staff working on my computer) it turned out we would need a new motherboard, which was outside our price range. They put the cost of the diagnostic toward a refurbished Chromebook that has been working great ever since. Really impressed by the quality of customer service, as we thought we had lost that money for the diagnostic. Usually the diagnostic does not stay as a credit if the computer cannot be repaired! We will certainly be coming here the next time we have a computer issue! read more

Visited for the first time today and was very pleased. My son had dropped his iPhone, damaging the LCD display and leaving in unable to be used. acute technology withdrawal for a 14 year old! They ran diagnostics on it, and replaced the screen within an hour, and for $40 less than the Apple Store. They offer a 60 day warranty if the problem reoccurs. I dealt with Eric, who was very helpful and professional. He also suggested a more durable tempered glass screen protector, to hopefully minimize any further mishaps! I'm not sure how you find better people than this. My name's David Heesch, and I've been playing poker both semi and professionally since 2002. As a serious player, you eventually learn to smell BS. There just isn't any with these guys. Paul, and staff, are by far the most genuine people I've yet to have do my computer work. More than one minor repair has been free after doing some bigger work. I brought my Apple laptop in for a repair today because my power chord wasn't searing correctly in the port. This has happened before and Apple repaired it for me. After a superficial look, CompRite quoted the repair including the part at about $200, but then took the extra moment to look a little closer and with a pair of tweezers removed a few small shards of something that was causing the problem. Eric is my go to guy when I have a problem with my laptop. Usually the problem is with this older, IT challenged user, not the computer. He figures out what the problem is, shows me how to deal with it, and sends me on my way. Most of the time it only takes a few minutes, and he often doesn't charge me, or only charges a minimal amount. One time I had him come to my home to take care of several serious issues and his charge for his time was very reasonable. read more

Our iPad died and would not power up, seemed totally dead. I took it in to Fixoid and explained the problem. I think it was Elena who did a mystery "soft reset" and it came back to life! I was expecting a $200 service charge and walked out with no cost at all. I had used them once before for a cell phone battery replacement that went fine. My experience here was truly unpleasant and infuriating…read more I stopped in to the Pearl location on 4/27. My phone has a loose speaker grill and the front glass of my phone needs to be replaced, as it is so scratched that the selfie camera is unusable. First off, despite being the only customer in the store, I had to wait ~5 minutes before the clerk came out of the back room. When he finally appeared I asked about the needed repairs, and the clerk said, "Sure I can do that." Then he told me that all he could do for the speaker was squirt some superglue up into the speaker port/grille and that it "might fix the issue but usually doesn't and blocks the speaker. But that's the only thing I can do about that." So the "Sure I can do that" was just a lie. That isn't a repair, that is squirting superglue and hoping for the best. Luckily I managed to stop him before he did it without verifying that I actually wanted him to do it. He quite literally was already reaching for the glue until I said "Well, then I absolutely don't want you to do that." THEN the clerk proceeded to pull out a screen protector box, and began opening it. When I saw him get the screen protector out, I asked him, "Is that a screen protector? Because I actually need the front glass replaced." He didn't stop what he was doing, continued applying the screen protector, and just said, "That's not worth it." Despite the fact that I already explained to him that I had a VERY specific reason for requesting that the glass of the phone itself be replaced. I never requested that he apply a screen protector, in fact I tried to stop him from applying it. He didn't even ask me about the type of screen protector, and installed a matte one. Even if I wanted a screen protector, I never would have selected a matte one, nor would I have applied it on an already heavily damaged screen. And, obviously, the screen protector over the top of the scratched glass does nothing to fix the selfie camera issue. He also installed it without the typical application tool, so the screen protector was misaligned. Frankly it really felt like the clerk simply wasn't interested in doing any actual repair work, and just wanted me to leave so he could go into the back room and chill there again. He was doing anything "repair" he could, as fast as he could, so that he had an excuse to charge me for it, even though he failed to do anything I asked.
