I was really excited to call Device Doctors and get in touch with Ryan. I told him my issue, a Chromebook which needed the screen replaced (my son broke it and it's his school computer.) I had the model number and all the information and Ryan was able to tell me the cost and how quick he could fix it for us. I said I was going to call around to get prices and repair time and he even suggested a few places, which I felt was very good business practice and made me feel comfortable. So I decided to use him for our repair and called him back to please place the order for the part. He definitely wasn't as friendly on my second call, but I just imagined he was busy. He said we could drop the laptop off anytime and so I asked my husband to do so since he was in the area that day. When he got to the address there was no "Device Doctors" he said there was a cell phone repair shop with that address. He went in and no one was there, which he thought was weird. Eventually was greeted by the cute pup in the photo and then finally Ryan. My husband said that he had very little customer service skills and didn't seem to even realize who he was (despite the fact that I said we would drop off the Chromebook and gave him all of my contact information over the phone,) when my husband said that I had spoken to Ryan. I didn't think anything of it as I thought he was very kind on my initial call. He told us the laptop would be finished on Tuesday (we dropped it off on Friday,) and it was. For some strange reason my voicemail didn't show until the next day. We were able to get a loaner from the school so it wasn't urgent for us to pick it back up. We did however, need to get an invoice for the repair as it was a warranty that we were using to get the repair done. My husband went back on Wednesday and he said no one was there. I tried calling multiple times and just got the voice mail. I finally got a hold of Ryan on Thursday and confirmed the hours and my husband was able to swing by again since he was in the area, and pick it up. However, we didn't get a repair invoice, we only got a Square receipt with the total. Since our warranty plan required a detailed invoice, I called 6 or 7 times trying to get a hold of someone and when I finally got a hold of Ryan on Friday he said he could email me an invoice if I would just text him the information. I did so, and at the end of the day on Friday I still had nothing. At the end of the day on Saturday again, no invoice. By Monday, I tried calling again multiple times and couldn't get a hold of him. I finally text and said that we needed the invoice to be able to submit our claim. And again, provided the details. Let me say this - if you're looking for customer service and you need that more than you need the repair, this isn't your spot. BUT if you need the repair you've been guaranteed for the price you've been quoted, this is it 100%. If I didn't need the detailed invoice, Ryan would have gotten 5 stars, for delivering what I asked for when he promised it. BUT it was a HUGE hassle trying to get a simple invoice to submit my warranty claim. That ran down the stars to a 3 star since it became more hassle than it was worth. We could have used a different shop, waited longer but gotten less hassle in the customer service area. I was disappointed, but I would go here for non-warranty work that I don't need within a specific time frame. He just lacked the customer service and follow up that I needed for my repair. read more

After going through a week and a half of a headache and utter HELL with Apple, Ryan saved the day and was able to fix my phone and save my information that I was desperately worried about losing. They refused because their diagnostics testing said, it wasn't the battery. I made a 2nd attempt at Apple Bridgeport where they gave me the same story leaving my only option to leave the phone where I would lose all of my information. But the button never seemed to work quite right after words and fast forward a few months and dust began collecting UNDER THE SCREEN. Okay, so I've used Device Doctors another two times since my last review. Once for a friends' iPhone 6 battery that was just on it's last legs and a lightning connector problem. Well, I'm happy to report that my friend is back in love with his iphone 6 because he doesn't have to carry his charger around. That fix took all of 10 minutes max. AND on another day my lightning connector problem was fixed in about 5 minutes. Talk about fast repair work. Ryan is great, he explains everything, and has VERY reasonable prices. Good for all those with 5 star reviews, but doesn't change the fact that I felt really disrespected & wasted a lot of time without getting my issue taken care of. I dropped off my phone for data recovery. Ryan asked me to keep the case, I asked him to keep it on but he said no. I did not get my phone back for 3 weeks. During that time, I received no calls regarding the process. I followed up 3X. Ryan talked in circles, something about how people want their device back right away and stuff like that. One time he said "yeah, there was another older lady also who dropped off her phone for the same reason...." that was it, end of story. Did you recover her stuff? What was the point of that sentence? To call me old? Well since we're the same age, does that make you an "older man" then? Not cool man. I think I was actually pretty patient. I was always nice and courteous and whatever he told me, I just said OK and waited. Finally after 3 weeks, I went there to pick up my phone at 5pm (they close 7pm). Drove in rush hour, low and behold, he decided to close shop early! I had told him I would come 2 days earlier. So why not tell me he will close the shop? I attached a photo of what I saw on the door, stating that if you needed your phone, to call. I texted and I left a message, please see text photo. He called me back (1st time ever!), I asked for my phone back, he stumbled on his words and finally came up with that he was in Seattle and coming back late that night. But he would not give me the opportunity to come back that night. After we got off the phone, I texted both his numbers, but he didn't respond. I really wanted it back because I had a one time opportunity to have someone look at it the next morning only. Sure it's a holiday, but that usually affects government, it's not assumed that anyone else is closed. It wasn't like it was Christmas. If he told me in advance when I called, then no problem, otherwise. The reason for the 2 stars rather than 1, is because perhaps he really did do the things he claimed to try to recover data? I appreciate his efforts if he really did try. I won't ever know, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. ****I understand sometimes a person tries but they just can't do it, had that been the only issue, I wouldn't be writing this review at all.**** But its the poor communication nor getting back my phone with cracks on the side that was not been there before. I heard him rifling HARD through stuff trying to find my phone for a few minutes, and it made me cringe. I take care of my stuff, that's not right. He wouldn't look me in the eye under his baseball hat, kinda mumbled, it was hard to trust. But I will say this, I took my phone elsewhere, and I did get 70% of my data back, and it took less than a week. UPDATE! Ryan emailed me and I was going to email back that same day, but then he posted on here. So if I am to be discredited publically, I will defend myself. Not sure why water damage is mentioned again when I never got water on the phone & there was no evidence of it either. 1. I have attached the dent to my phone. I immediately noticed it because I know my phone. In fact, I felt it first. I stared at it for several minutes debating if I should say something to Ryan or risk an argument. He knew I was looking at it because it was several akaward minutes of me staring and touching it while he looked down, no questions asked. I know how I left the phone. 2. I have attached a photo showing every call I made to his business. They are all OUTGOING. Not a single call was incoming with one exception and that is when he called from his personal cell when I had called the day I was outside the business and they were closed. I did include that photo too with part of the phone # removed. It's fine if you close, but please find a way to get people their cell phones when the sign says to call if you need your phone. The implication being that they will get their phones. He said he called so many times, please provide PROOF. Of the outgoing calls to his business, I spoke to him about 3X. The rest I either left a 1 min vm or hung up if I had already left - these are the 1 minute calls. And you see photo proof where I called on the 9th, 2 days before he closed shop on the 11th, but was not told they would be closed even though I indicated then that that is when I would be coming by. 3. While I have no doubt that some of the reviews here are real, I do have reason to believe that some of the reviews are not. Too many one review FB friends wrote reviews, some of which were filtered. Sure you can become friends with some of your customers in theory, but for the most part business/personal is separate. So I don't know if they were real customers. read more

My son broke his iPhone 6 almost a year ago, when he fell backward into the Willamette River while horsing around with friends. He brought it home, waterlogged and with a cracked screen. Headphone jack on my iPhone wasn't working. Found Device Doctors nearby in Lake Oswego. Web site provided clear pricing in advance. Sent them email to see if they could repair it while I waited. Received response a few hours later that they could do it in 30 minutes. Deal! Dropped by the store yesterday with no appointment. Owner was multi-tasking helping people on the phone and in the office but got to me pretty quickly. I explained the problem, handed him the phone and he disappeared toward the back of the store. I sat down in a sunny little waiting room thinking I would get some work done while I waited. Less than 10 minutes later he handed me the phone with a set of earbuds so I could confirm there was audio on both L/R channels. I was stunned at how fast he fixed it. Sounded good as new. The cherry on top of this very positive customer experience was that he told me the price on the website was wrong...the correct price was $10 LESS. My iPhone that I use for strictly business calls would not charge. I went online and paged through various forums. I did the toothpick thing where I swept out the lightning port.
