I went in expecting to replace my charge port, or worse to have to replace my phone. 30 minutes and $35 later it turns out I didn't need any of that. The port just needed to be cleaned. I even wanted to still replace the port but I was told they warranty their work for 6 months so if it has a problem they'll just apply the money to the replacement I was going to do anyway. Amazing! I have had a couple of positive dealings with Pete at The Fix Hut in the past, but my most recent visit to the store deserves a comment and high praise. I took two phones in to get replacement batteries and a screen protector on one. Pete told me that my iPhone did not yet need a battery, saving me $50, and that the Alcatel phone had a battery that he does not carry. He could order one, but I could order one cheaper on line myself, he said. He did install the screen protector, and I ordered my battery online as he had indicated. When my phone suddenly lost all cell reception, I thought it was a simple software issue. I decided to give the Fix Hut's NW location a call, and after a couple of minutes on the phone, the technician recommended I take it by the Albina location, as he thought it was probably an issue with the logit board, which the technician at the Albina location could diagnose better. I did as instructed, and after a couple days of testing, they came back with the bad news that his initial guess was right. Like most people, I'm not a fan of bad news, especially when it comes to my cell phone. However, I was impressed that they were able to accurately diagnose the issue with a few questions on the phone, and I appreciated the technician's transparency when he broke the news to me. Although he could have made a couple hundred dollars off a logit board replacement, he told me that due to the phone's age, buying a new one would be a better investment. He didn't even charge me for the diagnostic, although he took the phone apart, tried switching out antennas, etc! Not only are the Fix Hut people knowledgeable, but I really appreciated that they put my interests before profit. If I ever have to fix a phone again, they will definitely have my business. PS re: COVID restrictions, I can only speak for the Albina location, but everything felt very safe. Limited people in the store, masks required, and plexiglass at the register. read more

Just had to write a note about how helpful Will at The Fix Hut was. I took my iPhone to him after two visits to Sprint & a visit to Best Buy, and he was by far the most knowledgeable and helpful of all the folks I tried. He explained what he was doing, tried multiple things, and gave me a few additional suggestions when he was not able to fix it (no charge, either)! Most important of all: I took the phone to Apple afterwards to see if there was anything different they could do. They told me that because my screen wasn't working they had to install new firmware and erase everything. No options for me, they said. **Thank goodness Will had figured out how to get my data off the phone even though Apple couldn't (also while the screen wasn't working). He had known how to do what the geniuses couldn't, and he saved my info! I don't hope for another broken iPhone, but I will recommend these folks to anyone who ends up with one! read more

What a great find! My teenager's older iPhone has had problems with chargers slipping out for a while, but this morning he showed me that he could no longer plug in the phone at all. Definitely problematic. We showed up at The Fix Hut, and the nice guy there immediately knew what was wrong. He degunked (technical term) the socket, and the phone was ready to go in no time. He even helped me out--I asked whether he thought that a messy room might be a contributing factor to the junk in the phone, and *he* thought that it might have something to do with not eating enough vegetables. :) I will most certainly return when our phones develop more serious issues--I want this guy to stay in business! read more

I managed to get so intoxicated that I force closed my clutch and literally shattered my screen. So much to the point that passing strangers would stop me asking if they could take a picture of it. Apparently alcohol means you become the hulk. Anyways, I was recommended to go here and I dont regret it. It was done in 30 minutes. He gracefully removed shards of glass (my screen protector was the only thing keeping the glass from going a million different ways) and also replaced the LCD. He taught me how to speed up the phone and took me around the ropes with the phone software. I'll be taking in my other busted iPhone. I managed to be fixing my purse strap with the hand holding my phone... It catapulted into a mans chest and then dropped to the sidewalk. That was an awkward 'I'm-an-ahole' moment. Busted home and side buttons and LCD screen. $75 was quoted and 45 minutes. Strong work. Definitely going here until they or I no longer exist. My husband's phone hasn't been making any sounds for the last three months. When he visited an Apple store, they said he had to get a new phone since he had tripped the moisture sensor. After lots of grumbling, we had just reconciled to getting a non Apple phone (too delicate!) since our contracts were already up. We were reading through the Saturday paper last weekend and noticed in the Oregonian a little article under new businesses mentioning Matt's store and thought to stop by and see if he could fix it for less. Fifteen minutes later and after minimal cost he replaced the docking portion of the phone and it works like new. I liked that it was fast and an 'easy fix' what I didnt like was the lack of information. I brought in my own screen. I know nothing about phone fixes, or Apple services, etc. When I got my phone back the touch ID is no longer avaiable and the screen has some glitches, I called asking for help and the person told me that they couldnt help me because it was my own screen that I had brought in. It'd be an additional 125 usd again to make it work perfectly. I got kinda upset, as I said, I had never done this before so id appreciate if she wouldve told me this to begin with and I woulve gone with The Fix Hut supplies 100%. Now I have a semi fixed phone...as I said I understand that bringing my own screen doesnt give me a warranty but she shouldve said something....please tell your customers this info...not all of us know a lot about this. read more

The replacement glass is really cheap. After 32 days the lower right corner is bubbling and releasing. Because the bubbles in the corner the screen pressure cracked from being in my pocket while I was moving stuff around the house. I had my iPhone 7+ for over 3 years before the screen cracked but after only a month and $129 the screen is already toast. I would give them 4-star for customer service - walk right in and only an hour. Fix is fast and people are super nice nice. Glass used is garbage. read more

Do not waste your time booking an appointment. It falls on deaf ears and useless eyes. I made an appointment and showed up 15 minutes early as I dont have a working phone right now and didnt want to inconvenience the tech by being late. Unfortunately this courtesy was not reciprocated. I stood on the corner looking for the location marked on their cards and website. There is another business at the location with a post saying CALL the number. Being a phone rebpair shop i just cant see how its conducive to business to make people with a broken phone need to use their phone just to get to the correct location. I really wanted to like these guys. They're cool and casual but on the ball about possible problems and fixes when I first dropped in, and they told me they'd call me the next day to let me know what they found. They gave me a good feeling - seemed like they were in top of things ad no reason to doubt they wanted to have me very pleased. So I forgot about it (this was repairing my previous iPhone as a possible present for family), and realised three days later they still hadn't called. Called them, said wrk had been done on it and that it was ready for pickup. WTF dudes? Since when am I supposed to be reminding you to do a simple thing like this? When we got in we got friendly service (though it wasn't exactly speedy) and one of the owners walked through the final diagnosis. [Why they didn't know that it was working per my detailed instructions when I dropped it off, I don't know - was it ready or wasn't it? This makes it seems like they're flying by the seat of their pants on every repair, even though I'm sure they actually know the ins and outs of every iPhone.] Finally, the owner gives us a very up-front bribe - "I'll give you a free screen protector if you post a review on Yelp or Google." And repeated this 'deal' a number of times to make sure we didn't miss the hint that they wanted more reviews. Which immediately explains why they have so many five-star reviews - you're "asked" to typed it in on *their* computer right in front of them. Hard to be honest when they're right there, and you don't know if they're going to read the text of the review to judge whether you deserve a protector or not. (Note: they didn't, but they don't do anything about your free screen protector until after they've confirmed that you put in a review.) read more

Smart-phone, dumb-owner. How else do you explain a) not protecting my investment with some sort of cover, b) walking around with my new iPhone 4 tucked inside the notoriously flimsy pocket of my hoody and c) jumping around like a lottery ball while playing with my 3-year old niece. On asphalt. Didn't see it. Didn't feel it. Just heard it - CRACK. IPhone, face down on the pavement. I gingerly picked it up and slowly turned it over. If not so tragic, the mosaic of broken glass could have been quite beautiful. Naturally, being me, I hadn't covered myself with AppleCare, so my options in that arena were to send my phone to Apple and pay $198 (ish) for repair. That's DAYS without a phone, people. I think you know this was not an option. I briefly considered the Mac Store, and made an online appointment, but decided to keep searching. There had to be another local option. Little did I know the local option I would find, Matt at Wired iRepair, would go out of his way to accommodate my schedule AND replace my phone with a brand new one upon discovering a faulty solder during his repair AND deliver my new phone to me at my work AND charge me $80 he quoted me at the very beginning! Seriously. He schlepped down to the Apple store and waited there for an hour or two to replace my phone for me. All this in less one day. AND he apologized for it taking longer than he had anticipated. AND he sometimes has fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at his shop. Did the Mac Store ever bake you cookies? Not only did they not return my phone message for over a week, when I finally got ahold of someone, she told me in a very snooty voice "our phones are constantly ringing off the hook, we don't have time to return people's voicemails". This is one amazing place. Customer service is excellent. They made a great effort to get my damaged phone back to life after my dumb ass jumped in a pool with it in my pocket. Alas chlorinated water is like cryptonite to an apple product and the phone was not recoverable. They refused to take any payment for their efforts which is unheard of in my experience. The NW Lovejoy shop told me on the phone that replacing my iPhone 5 display would take an hour. When I dropped the phone for the repair I mentioned where I'd be going for lunch and the tech offered his favorites off that menu. Just over an hour later my phone was ready as promised. My friend had taken the tech's recommendation for lunch and loved it. After getting home I started using the phone and realized that not only had they replaced the shattered display, they had also replaced or repaired my home button and power/sleep button as both were back to their like-new clickiness. And today, three days following the repair, I noticed yet another bonus. They had cleaned all the lint and dust out of my camera lense. Suddenly my camera is taking its best photos in six months. Let's recap: they kept their promise on turnaround time, went above and beyond with three noticeable extras (buttons and camera) AND gave a tremendous local lunch recommendation. These guys are incredible. Cannot recommend them highly enough. This was my first time there, but my fiancé dropped her iPhone 5 from a second story balcony several months months ago and visited them. They replaced the screen in less than an hour for about $100. That's faster, cheaper and easier than her, I or the geniuses could have done it. Then today, I dropped her phone. It seemed to be working fine, but I couldn't swipe or unlock it (we later learned that means the digitizer was broken). We took it in immediately and they first tried a couple quick things before diagnosing the broken digitizer. They said it would be ready in 15min to replace the screen. We walked around the neighborhood and when we returned, they told us the screen was on the house. They said it was under their "warranty" with a wink, and sent us on our way. We returned with a six-pack for their kindness, of course. If anything is wrong with your phone/Apple product, just bring it in to them. You won't regret it. read more

This is the second time I have used these guys for my I phone screen repair. Tyler was awesome, and had my new screen replaced in about 15 min! I paid about $100 for the new screen and a new pair of ear buds. He gave me an extra 10% off since I used them for my previous screen repair. Great customer service both times I've been here, and it's never taken longer then about 45 min to be out of the door with a new screen! I would highly recommend these guys! The repair also comes with a 6 month warranty, but not on the screen.
