Amazing brunch! One of my friends booked this place not knowing what to expect; considering the location (Lancaster) we weren't sure if anything was really worth raving about in the AV. However this place is WORTH raving about! I will drive an hour just to go here for the amazing breakfast, mimosas and hospitality! Our server was beyond incredible, friendly and accommodating. Luckily, we happened upon this place yesterday. We went in to check it out & we're warmly greeted at the door & explained we were thinking of bringing some friends later. We met Dan, the owner, and ordered a couple glasses of wine. We told him we'd be back, he recommended reservations, so we did. We returned later with friends. The food menu is outstanding and everything we ordered was excellent. There are approximately 350 wines on the list, not all of which are by the glass, but a great selection that are. The cheese menu must have 150 selections, most of which you can purchase by the ounce and/or add to your charcuterie platter. All of the hostesses, wait staff & kitchen workers were all upbeat & enthusiastic. The servers were all well versed in the wine, food menu and cheeses. They were engaging, polite, helpful and patient as we were slow to make choices from the large list of choices. Our group was happily surprised & pleased with our discovery. This was my moms first visit as I was taking her out for her birthday unfortunately the service was disgraceful as we were never served not even water. I made reservations back in July this was the third reservation as the first two needed to be rescheduled on my own account and then the second because it was closed the day of. We were greeted and seated, then sat for 18 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgement of our presence. Watched staff clean adjacent tables, still no acknowledgement. Walking out, we were thanked for coming in. I did mention the no service received, and again no acknowledgement. I have been treated like this before at different establishments in other cities but never here in my hometown. This is very heart breaking as I wanted my mom to have a great experience as I have had before. This is very unfortunate. Even with the restrictions of COVID, Complexity has been able to surpass expectations and provide top quality service. Even when ordering to go, the staff is as friendly and professional as if you were dining in with them. Everything tastes delicious- the French onion soup is the best I've ever had. The Black Sea pasta is a customer favorite and it is obvious why! My friends and I dined in (outside patio seating) one night this week and we were so impressed by our waitress, Heather. Not only was she so friendly and patient, she was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu items and what paired well with other items. We ended up with a super delicious charcuterie board (which you can customize the number of items based on your party size- how convenient is that?!) and my friends enjoyed the wine recommendations she offered. It was such a great experience during this trying time for businesses to work with, but Complexity is the gold standard of service and has unbeatable flavors. I've been turned away twice since coming here the first time. The first time it was due to them shutting the place down for a bridal shower. The second time, I called to see if they were open. The man who answered said yes. My friends who came to AV from out of town, and I came over and were turned away after being told that they were going to be "all booked at 3pm" and I needed a reservation. Why wouldn't the man who answered the phone say this in the first place? My money, and party of 4 weren't welcome here. One star is for poor customer service. Will most definitely not be back. This place is our new fav in the AV! The owners and staff are wonderfully attentive and you can tell they have such a passion for this business. My husband and I went on a date night on a Saturday and we were seated on the patio, due to COVID restrictions. The patio was nice and shaded and very cute! I ordered a red wine flight - I like how they let me pick the wines I wanted to try and they also had some great suggestions. I definitely recommend the Sculpterra Pinot Noir! My husband got a really yummy homemade mango iced tea that our server made..so refreshing! We decided to start with the Bruschetta. OMG, must try. Toasted baguette, with balsamic drizzle, very garlicky, some fresh grated parmesan on top. Perfect - I would know too, 100% Italiana right here. We then ordered the 2 Complexities dinner which included soup or salad. My husband got Caeser - I liked the croutons and the dressing was definitely homemade. I got the house salad which was very fresh tasting..included mixed greens, heirloom tomatoes, fresh avocado and asparagus. With a yummy citrus vinegarette. For our dinners, I ordered the Black Sea Pasta. Just order it!!! If you love seafood, it is so delicious! The lobster marinara, big plump shrimp and fresh mussels. And then the yummy toasted baguette on the side. Have to try! My husband loved his dish, the beef bourguinon. Meat was very tender and the sauce was delicious. Came presented well in a cast iron skillet. We drank a few more red wine glasses in between and then finished it off with the drunken red velvet cake....soaked in Kahlua!! So light and delicious! SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS! It is veteran owned, the food is quality, the wine is all amazing. They sell local artists art on the walls. They even do fun wine pairing and charcuterie nights , wine and paint nights. This place is a hidden gem and I am telling everyone about them. We need more places like this in the AV! read more

Great atmosphere, excellent wine selection and the food is varied and delicious. I'm so glad this place survived the pandemic (partly by doing deliveries and virtual wine tastings). They also have a cheese selection (and cheese club that I'm not familiar with) that is great for anyone who loves to make charcuterie boards at home. Absolutely fantastic! We ordered the firecracker mac and cheese and the roast beef pannini with the lobster bisque. HOLY MOLY! So delicious. And the quality of the meal was not diminished with ordering delivery (which is so often the case with other restaurants). We're already planning on what we'll order next! My wife and I finally made it to Complexity! For starters, this a jewel in the middle of the desert. My wine was a Paso Robles Petite Sirah that was bold enough by itself, but smooth enough to carry me through our three course dinner. We had a classic Caprese salad made with Heirloom tomatoes; it was great but perhaps server should have offer crushed sea salt over the tomatoes. One of the dinner specials caught our attention; it was the Squid Ink Pasta with shrimp and lobster flavored marinara sauce. We shared our meal so we could try as much of other dishes. The pasta was as great as I expected it to be. We were trying to decide between dessert or a cheese course. The table next to us had the dessert board, so, we had dessert in our mind by imagination by looking at the table next to us. Being a Saturday night, they had live music. I was in heaven listening Lindsay and Cedric acoustic renditions of Dianna Krall! When they played Loui Armstrong's "What a wonderful world", I knew I was in for a great experience and I wanted to say: "I'm getting hungry, peel me a grape". We opted for a one cheese board. The cheese was a type of Brie called Four Fat Fowl; it was out of this world; creamier and sweeter than a regular Brie and from New York!! The tannings on the cheese brought out the berry, sweetness in the wine and awoke my palate! It was a terrific surprise and it felt like was having a different wine! Next time, we'll do dessert! BRUNCH came back for Sunday brunch. We had the Dutch Baby Pancake that came with berries and syrup. Also had the Burgundy wine poached eggs. Brunch was great, I give it a four star rating. Mimosas are $5 for house and $8 for premium, you also have the option to upgrade to bottomless ones. I had a raspberry house mimosa, would like to taste more of the sparkling wine though. Will try the premium one next time. The Dutch Baby pancake could have used either some homemade whipped cream or a house crème Anglais (vanilla sauce) and a raspberry sauce! The Burgundy wine poached eggs taste was right on point. The wine sauce had mushrooms and was topped with perfectly cooked pearl onions. The eggs were served over arugula on top of toast. Thought it was full of flavors, I have one pointer, I would like to try it with an artisan, crusty French Bread instead of sliced toasted bread; the toast gets too soggy with the sauce. I enjoy going to wine tastings and got some of that same feeling with my mixed flight. The waiter, Alex, was so sweet and offered great recommendations. When I didn't particularly enjoy one of my wines, they happily replaced it. The charcuterie board was the highlight of my visit! We chose 2 cheeses and 1 meat which was paired with great fruits, nuts, jams, crackers and bread (it was one that fed 1-2 people). To start I ordered a blended red, no fancy name it was 12 bucks, and ok but it tasted like Manage A trous from the grocery store but it was a very short 3 finger pour. I ordered French onion soup to start. It had a great flavor, beef stock thyme, a little sherry but hardly any onion. The great dissapointment was the toasted bread and cheese was so tiny ! . It was literally 2 little baguette ends and a shaving of moterella...very pathetic. My husband ordered the 14 oz ribeye. He asked for it medium but it was grey . It had a HUGE nob of fat at one end..I mean 2 inches by 2 inches. Well,at least the steak was juicy. It came on a small plate and smashed beneath it were 4 asparagus spears and some mashed potatoes. I got the beef Bourginon which was very simple..beef and pasta..didn't see any mushrooms or onions but it tasted good. All in all, 2 beers,2 really small wines and 2 dinners with desert....200 bucks. I am so disappointed in this charcuterie board. My partner and I ordered this a day ahead as a sympathy gift for a friend who just lost a loved one. We made sure to notify the staff of this because it was supposed to be a nice gesture. We have eaten here before and the service and food was amazing, so we didn't even think twice to check the bag before we drove off and left. Once we left, we opened the bag and found this... I'm honestly so disappointed and I wanted to go back and get a refund but since this was for a friend , we were pressed for time.. that's why we ordered this the night before. We were expecting something nice, something that looked like it was made with some thought in it. Instead, it looks like it was thrown together , half eaten and prepared right when we got there to pick it up! And whats even worse is this cost me almost $40!
