I called my local plumber, CJM, because our hot water was out. This was June 2025 and our furnace heats an indirect hot water heater. CJM said the issue was likely a nest or some sort of clog in the chimney so, they recommended Mike Duran from Complete Chimney. Mike came the next day and after looking at my furnace where it exhausted into the chimney told me there were signs of breakdown so the only way to fix it was with a stainless steel liner. He said, "I'm sorry, they are expensive but I only go with the best material." Not knowing about this sort of stuff I said ok I need hot water and for the negative pressure flowing into my basement to stop. A week later Mike shows up without a helper (he said he no showed) and he proceeded to install the liner without assistance. I heard the metal scrapping hard against my gutter and as you can see in the photo below he did a horrible job capping it off. At the end of the day he wanted to talk to me about music and his gigs. This was because I mentioned my son plays guitar, he saw the guitar while working. Maybe quit your day job Mike?? After and hour a two he calls me into the basement and says the liner didn't fix the negative pressure issue. I said ok, what else does he think is causing it. After another two hours I can see is tired and now says he is going to leave... even though I still have the same issue and honestly even worse. We had a mini home reno done after that and Mike said he was unable to come because he was in the hospital. I said to focus on his health but he said the photo he send me was old and he was home. So for the rest of 2025 we suffered in the heat with a negative pressure issue. During the fall and winter it resolved but only to come roaring back again June 2026. When I texted Mike to see what he thought he replied with a nasty message and suggested I seek out someone more qualified. Baffled, I texted him back that I'm not upset but I just need some help. I told him to call me the next day, he said he would at 9:30am. He did not so I called at 10am we had normal conversation and I asked if he could just reach out to anyone he might now that had an idea for a fix. I stayed at the back of the courtroom for about a minute so I could exit the building through the doors on the opposite side of the courthouse. When I exited the courtroom and headed down the stairs away from Mike Doran, he stepped towards me, and, under his breath, but loud enough for me to hear from behind, he said, "You fu-ing little...". In the microsecond I heard the second word, I rapidly turned around, walked directly back into the courtroom and flagged the Bailiff to explain what had happened. He acknowledged it, and I left the courthouse through the opposite side of the building from where Mike Doran had exited. Though I trust the Bailiff completely, before I left the premises, I believed it was important to go back into the courthouse and let the Court Clerk know as well. It is my request that the Court play back the courthouse video so they may see for themselves exactly what happened. In my testimony, I explained to the Honorable Judge that I did not want Mike Doran back on my property because I do not feel safe. In my written testimony, I provided the dates of when Mike Doran had verbally attacked me before. The verbal attack just outside of the courtroom is another specific example of why I do not feel safe. Verbal harassment shall include derogatory remarks, jokes, or slurs, and can include belligerent or threatening words spoken to another.
