Ivan got caught trying to scam me for a new $9000 unit when all it was, was two red wires crossed behind thermostat. Scum. Do not recommend. Long story... Everyone on here giving Ivan a good review is either coming from a fake account or still don't realize he ripped you off bc you haven't asked another company for a second opinion. I used this guy for 4 years and always had a shady feeling about him but my wife liked him. Every time he came to my house it was NEVER a small fix. Always ended up needing something and having to pay 1000+. We even had to get a new compressor last year. Supposedly. This year my ac wasn't turning on at all but luckily my neighbor was redoing his house so after Ivan came over and told us we needed a whole new unit in the attic for 7-9000$ bc the control board was bad, I had the neighbor guy walk over and check it. He went to the attic for 6 minutes, walked back down the ladder, went to the bedroom, opened the thermostat and swapped the two red wires and boom. It started running. Cold Air coming out of a vent right above my head. I called my wife and told her and it hit her. She said oh yeaaaahhhh!!... I swapped the wires in the winter when the heat wasn't coming on! So I called the office and the lady was very nice and understanding telling me that's not right what he did and you should get your money back. She even said I'll have him call you to see if he can explain. I said fine. She was very nice she calmed me down and didn't argue with me at all. She agreed with me the whole way. Ivan called me ten minutes later... I let him talk bc the lady at the front didn't tell him exactly why I called so he didn't have time to think of a story. He talked for 3 minutes straight about how the control board was bad. Unreal. I told him the neighbors guy came over opened the thermostat and crossed rented wires back and it came on immediately. How do I explain that Ivan? He Never apologized never offered any money back he even tried to to argue with me that if he got us a $9000 unit that it would work even tho the wires would've still been crossed!!! He argued with me the entire phone call his ego couldn't let it go. I said Ivan the wires were crossed in the thermostat!! That was the problem not the control board!! HE STILL ARGUED WITH ME saying it was still the control board! He charged us $400 and the guy never even opened the thermostat!!! You could literally see the two red wires looked like an X anybody that knows anything about A/C would've figured it out! Now every time he came to my house in the last 4 years I think he scammed me but I don't have proof. This is the only time I have 1000% proof. It's like a scam show where they cross two wires and see what the company says and then some lady comes around the corner with a microphone saying you're on nbcnews why are you trying to scam us. This happened by accident and he fell for it. Only getting two stars bc the lady at the office was super cool and understanding. I don't even think she likes him. Ivan is Absolute Scum. This is fact. I called my local plumber, CJM, because our hot water was out. This was June 2025 and our furnace…read moreheats an indirect hot water heater. CJM said the issue was likely a nest or some sort of clog in the chimney so, they recommended Mike Duran from Complete Chimney. Mike came the next day and after looking at my furnace where it exhausted into the chimney told me there were signs of breakdown so the only way to fix it was with a stainless steel liner. He said, "I'm sorry, they are expensive but I only go with the best material." Not knowing about this sort of stuff I said ok I need hot water and for the negative pressure flowing into my basement to stop. A week later Mike shows up without a helper (he said he no showed) and he proceeded to install the liner without assistance. I heard the metal scrapping hard against my gutter and as you can see in the photo below he did a horrible job capping it off. At the end of the day he wanted to talk to me about music and his gigs. This was because I mentioned my son plays guitar, he saw the guitar while working. Maybe quit your day job Mike?? After and hour a two he calls me into the basement and says the liner didn't fix the negative pressure issue. I said ok, what else does he think is causing it. After another two hours I can see is tired and now says he is going to leave... even though I still have the same issue and honestly even worse. We had a mini home reno done after that and Mike said he was unable to come because he was in the hospital. I said to focus on his health but he said the photo he send me was old and he was home. So for the rest of 2025 we suffered in the heat with a negative pressure issue. During the fall and winter it resolved but only to come roaring back again June 2026. When I texted Mike to see what he thought he replied with a nasty message and suggested I seek out someone more qualified. Baffled, I texted him back that I'm not upset but I just need some help. I told him to call me the next day, he said he would at 9:30am. He did not so I called at 10am we had normal conversation and I asked if he could just reach out to anyone he might now that had an idea for a fix. We ended the call without issue and I never herd from him again. Avoid this crook at all costs and honestly I'm disappointed in CJM for putting me in touch with this guy.
