Price increase of over 20% after a couple of months. No way provided to keep building entrance doors open. Carts sometimes missing

I had 5 units for a few years. Every couple of months they increase their rate. For 5 units my last invoice would have been over $1900. I moved everything to their competitor Express Storage which is by far cheaper and a cleaner storage unit. Also, I cancelled one of my units before my renewal and they still charged me. After 2 weeks of no credit I disputed the charges on my credit card. Go somewhere else. This place is terrible. read more

I guess I'm a slow learner! I had rented a storage unit at Compass Storage on Aloma in Oviedo and the rate went up by 60% in one year. I thought maybe that was a one off so I rented a smaller unit at the same place about two months ago and the charge has gone up 25% already. I called them and was basically told "too bad" Seems like a bait and switch proposition. If you're looking for a storage place, I'd think twice about renting at Compass. read more

Called on Thursday, got rates. spoke to Kay. About 30 minutes later. Lance, manager called to see what I decided. During both calls was told $64.00 a month and first month free. Well lo and behold went up Saturday to secure storage unit. The GM (?) said yes we have your qoute here. What I wasn't told is there is a $29 admin fee, and insurance is mandatory. I asked what the administration fee was for and told administrative duties! lol. could not tell me why and what they do for this. I then said my homeowners policy covers my storage unit. I was told that unless I can show a declaration page, he would charge me for the first month and then take off. if they had told me this, I would have brought. I was going to tent then changed my mind. they already processed my card, so I asked for a reversal. The GM said he has to get from the District Manager. not acceptable. made him give to me now. would probably never get if I did his way. in closing, they are a scam, and by reading reviews they do not care if the units are rented or not. Will never go back. I am sure they will not reply since they only respond to positive reviews. read more

I rented the unit 4 weeks ago and yesterday I came to pick up some things and found my unit almost empty. It had been stolen. It has no security. No cameras. The gate is open 24/7. They rent units to homeless people and they use them to sleep. They were one of these people who robbed me because I found part of my dining room set in one of the homeless units.. XERXOR SELF STORAGE TENANT INSURANCE Company would ONLY cover $3000 dollars later make the claim...PAY more to have a unit with A/C but are truly making it easier for thiefs to stole your belongings from inside.That's why the homeless prefer to pay to sleep and steal ...... There is no reason that the Compass Self Storage allows them to do that and they even have pets. read more

Updated 11/26/2016--- Now my storage rental is up even more now! $97 dollars a month for a Unit 5X10 which is the smallest unit they have. There haven't been any improvements anywhere on this property that warrants an increase every 6 months, especially to customers who have been paying you for 3+ years with no issues....It makes no sense at all, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, surely not for any time over a month or two. read more

Been with this place for almost 4 years. Had one unit for most of the time. Was very disappointed that every year some new charge was added. Rent went up yearly and/or insurance was forced upon me. Sadly, I sold my pickup truck during that time, so I couldn't easily move to another place for cheaper. It wasn't huge increases but over 4 years it went up hundreds per year. Moving to a bigger unit here before we moved was easy and surprisingly inexpensive. Always had good service here. read more

This place is a complete and total rip off. You get a unit and in the documentation it states that they can raise the rates to anything that they want to charge at any given point of your contract. It's mixed up with the rest of the multi page agreement. Apparently most people don't read this part, just like I did not, because I have had rental units for the last 10 years in various states and even here in Orlando. Let's just say that this great racing shenanigans is not a common practice, at least not like this. the woman had show it to me today. The rate went from about 106 a month to 178 a month within a year! I had a PODS before and even with the service it was less than this. I gave it one star because they are nice and the service is decent. My advice would be to go else where with your money. read more

What a nice staff! We came in and priced the unit and then later, after checking other units in the area returned. No difference, they didn't care and actually appreciated that we priced the unit around town. The office was great and very attentive. read more

My experience was quite delightful. I made reservations before I moved down from Virginia. They were the cheapest of the three storage locations close to my new residence. Even though I was a bit delayed in moving, they still held my reservation, until I arrived and went there personally. They allowed my moving company to park their trailer on the premises for 5 days until I was able to empty it to put into my storage unit. Will definitely recommend them to friends and family and others reading this review. read more

I was looking for a space to park my trailer about 3 years ago at this same storage place. Last year, 2015, I came back thinking the same people were there. Expecting the same unprofessional individuals were going to treat me like I was some chupacabra. I was with my wife who works for the Sheriffs office in Osceola County. The faces were different and very professional. After talking to the manager, we were hooked. We had a common issue that made us fall in love with this storage facility. The place was clean, very secured, and when it rains and you forget the password, the manager comes out and checks up on you. Thank you Martha, your a superwoman!!!! I have thousands of dollars of equipment that I store there every day and feel that the security system is watching my property. The most unhelpful service possible. Never, Ever, rent a Uhaul from here. They don't know how to do anything but charge you. If you have a problem with a truck they can't even look up your account. Then they double charge you and claim you should have called them to explain the situation. Even though when you DID call and they just said they don't know anything and cannot help you. read more
