They initially told us the monthly rent would be around $50+, but after just 2-3 months, they increased it by more than $20!! Because of this experience, I'll never rent a storage unit here again!

That being said, my experience has left a bad taste in my mouth after receiving a small postcard 4 months after move-in notifying me that the monthly storage free was going to DOUBLE next month! Obviously they have the right to operate that way, but it is not customer friendly and is just bad business. I've had storage units with Extra Space at multiple locations on and off for 10+ years now. Extra Space has always increased rent by a noticeable amount, but in the past they occurred once or twice a year and were a fraction of the amount. I put mouse traps in my unit and have notified the front office on several occasions of the issue with no remedy. I have also reached out to the owner and this issue has still not been resolved. We called and were told there was nothing they could do about the price increase and also told us they do rate increases every 3-9 months meaning in another few months there will 100% be another rate increase.
