Here is our story: Our family had a very disappointing experience with "Community Moving" while relocating my elderly parents closer to us in Lexington, Virginia. What was supposed to be a carefully planned move for two elderly parents instead became a stressful and chaotic experience that left us dealing with damaged belongings and days of additional work to sort through improperly packed boxes. We chose this company not only because it is owned by veterans, but because of the company's mission and values. These meant a great deal to my family. This was not a typical move. My dad is retired military and this is their 17th and final move. My parents are now both in their 80s, and the relocation was meant to bring them into a safer home where we could help care for them. Because of that, we spent a great deal of time speaking with the company beforehand about the size of the move and the need for careful handling of antiques, heirlooms, and fragile items. We also provided photos and videos of the home so the estimate could be as accurate as possible. Despite those preparations, the move itself was far more chaotic than we expected. The truck plan changed shortly before the move, and later, additional trucks and packing materials had to be acquired by the company. Packing did not match what we had discussed ahead of time. Some fragile items and antiques were packed in ways that caused damage, and several pieces of furniture and household items arrived broken, stress fractured and in poor condition. The labeling of boxes was also inconsistent, which made unpacking extremely difficult. Many boxes contained mixed items from different rooms or had little description of the room or contents, which meant nearly every box had to be opened and sorted before anything could be put away. Because of the condition of the packing and delivery, we had to spend several additional days reorganizing the house with the help of friends and family. This was particularly challenging given my parents' age and health, and it added significant stress during what was already an emotional transition. We did communicate our concerns to management and provided documentation, photos and videos of the issues we discovered during unpacking. While conversations took place, the outcome did not fully resolve the situation for our family. This review reflects our family's direct experience with this move and the condition of items as they were unpacked. Moving elderly parents and transporting a lifetime of belongings requires careful planning, clear communication, and attention to detail. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone planning a large or complex move ask very detailed questions about packing methods, labeling procedures, and truck capacity before choosing a moving company. We did, but "Community Moving" fell short of our expectation. At present time, we are waiting on some resolutions with the company. We are in process with Community Moving. It has been a largely frustrating experience. The pro so far has been the movers on the front end in Washington state. Very kind and efficient. Everything else has been misleading and frustrating. Our primary point person has been Mike A. He's been available until the company up-charged us. A few days before the pickup, I updated the inventory list over the phone with Mike A. adding 40-45 boxes. I asked him verbatim, "Does this change the price?" He said "No." This was a ~$3k lie. Upon arrival, despite us selling many large items that were originally on the moving inventory, Community tried to charge us an additional $3k. What were we going to do? We had to be out of the house. We haggled, but their fraudulent ways are still costing us 50% more than anticipated, so make sure to budget that in if you work with them. As for delivery, we clearly specified a preferred date of delivery. Over the phone, the "earliest day of delivery" was sold as something much more certain. That's looking quite unlikely now. If they can get their mess together, I'll follow up with an edit. I'm not hopeful though. Edit: we were further disappointed. The delivery team caused damage to our house: door frame, hardwood floors, railings on the stairs, etc.. The claims process is third party and is nothing but an endless time vacuum suspended by difficult formatting requirements. I'll be happy to update my review when things are remedied. read more

Please don't listen other's review. All are fake. My son got job in Seattle. I talked with Donnie and he asked $2100 for moving all belongings (he had bare minimum things). Donnie promised me to deliver by Jan 11th. Very big mistakes. They picked up everything on 3rd of Jan. My son moved to Seattle on Jan 10th, hoping that he will get delivered by next day. I followed many times to Donnie, he picked up first time and then he stopped picking up my phone. By the way, all the money they will ask thru ZELLE. They charged $400 extra because trailer could not go City. At last they delivered on Jan 23rd. So disappointed of Donnie. Shame on him, Business means TRUST. Very untrustworthy person. read more

They arrived at our house with a truck too small , then changed our initial quote from $4,500 to $12,000+ Their Customer service is incredibly unprofessional - They finally arrived several after we got the keys to our house. We waiting around twiddling our thumbs for our stuff to arrive - I kept calling just to tell us it could be up to two weeks- And to find out they sent our stuff to another state the opposite direction of our new house, Just to combine all of our belongings with another families. The entire experience has been a nightmare. The movers were rude from the beginning, they let me know there would be a fee for going over the space, but didn't tell me until after the space had gone over that it would be an extra almost $1000. I provided all of the information on delivery and still the form was sent back twice, I was told different things by different people, sitting over a week later in my new residence and they will not give me a time or even day that it will be delivered, just that they will call when they're on their way, I explained this wouldn't work because of my job and they still will not provide an update. The customer service representatives were rude, overall this company has been deceptive, unprofessional, and seriously lacking communication. They were efficient, furniture was wrapped well, and they even had straps to keep my plants from falling over in the truck! A fantastic move experience. I have a 1 bedroom and a lot of heavy furniture so a move myself or with a friend is impossible. Shawn, Michael and Zach were a great crew. They even knew how to break down my recliner couch into components so it was easier to get down the stairs. Everything from small moving boxes to my washer/dryer were placed and installed where I wanted them to in the new place and in the same condition they left my old place. So many things went wrong using this company for a move. So I'll just hit the major points. I reserved two trucks/4 movers for a large move. The evening before the move I was downgraded to one truck and 3 movers. The movers didn't have tools to disassemble furniture and used scissors for allen keys. This stripped bolts requiring replacement. The movers themselves were careless. Several pieces of furniture have brand new gouges in them. They didn't bring an appropriate appliance dolley for a safe to move. I actually refused to let them move the safe up the stairs because of this. I did make it known I had this and where it was moving in the original contact. Because of the downgrade and incompetent work, it took 10 hours to move one truckload 10 miles. The one truck didn't finish the move as expected but they took way too long that a second trip wasn't possible that day. I told the manager I wouldn't be paying for an incomplete job and until I review all the damages since I saw alot as they unloaded. The manager then proceeded to yell at me calling me a liar and demanding immediate payment. After I refused, he CALLED THE POLICE on me! The police only documented there was a dispute and then left. I contacted another moving company to finish their job the next week. This ordeal extended my lease past the expected date. read more

I was referred to this company by a friend and was enticed because a portion of the proceeds of each sale goes to North Texas Food Bank (not sure how much though). Luis, Harry, and Ronnie showed up on time on 12/23 to help me move a whole one-story house into a three level townhome. What troopers! They were kind and didn't complain at all. They even helped me drag trash and bulky items to the curb of the old place for bulk trash pickup week. All of my furniture was moved carefully and with caution. They also went above and beyond in helping me lay out a new rug and getting it underneath a bed on risers. I chose Community Moving because they have almost 5 stars on yelp. Well, I should've gone with AB Movers whom I've used before and they were fast and great. First off, it too 5.5 HOURS to move. We live in a 1100 sq ft condo. This was the longest most expensive move I've ever had done. FIVE AND A HALF HOURS FOR 1100 sq ft! I've moved from different high rises before and it's taken no more than TWO and a half hours. Secondly, they make you fill out an inventory form online of what you have so they can provide you a quote. Well, they do not provide this inventory list to the movers so they had no idea what to move and were surprised when we told them there was still washer and dryer to move. Also, they ask online if you have valuable items. Yes, we have an antique desk and a console that had been restored for us. Chunks of wood were taken out of this desk!! And they didn't wrap the couch all the way, and something from a kitchen box LEAKED on the back of my linen couch! They also scratched up our hardwood floors really bad. Thanks, we are trying to sell the place and now there's 3 large, deep scratches right at the front door. Lastly, I've never had movers who didn't help me hook up the washer/dryer. I've never had a move this bad and I don't know who to contact or what to do next since I'm at a loss of $649! The worst experience I've ever had with movers. I don't know how this company has such good reviews. The scheduling and contact beforehand was simple. They were scheduled to show up between 9-10am. They showed up at 10:30. We had three movers and they worked so extremely slow. Each trip outside took 15 minutes to move a few boxes. It took over three hours to load, which is longer than anything I've seen. Before leaving, they broke two of our light switches. How that is even possible, I don't know. Finally we get to our new residence and begin unloading. It has taken so long at this point, we tell them they don't have to unwrap anything, we can do it. They bring in our dining chairs and they are all of a sudden in two pieces. The guy says he doesn't know what happened but does proceed to put them back together. A few minutes later, he tells me something else is broken. A bookshelf is SMASHED. There are broken parts everywhere. I tell him to just take it with him, I can't do anything with it. Come to find later, they just moved it to my garage and left it there. All of my boxes carefully marked fragile are turned sideways, upside down or smashed. I don't know what to expect looking in them. I will never use this company again and I would never recommend. read more

This company is getting 2 stars, primarily because of the harassments and threats from the office manager Travis. The moving day itself was fine, 5 stars to Julio and Daniel for their hard work. The loss of stars is for what transpired afterwards. At the end of the move, I gave the movers my credit card and they wrote down the info and gave me a copy of the receipt which showed what they wrote down. A few days later I have a call from an unknown number stating my card did not go through. Travis then leaves a message and texts me which I promptly called after he texted and identified who was calling. He tells me my card isn't going through. I had used the card several times since the move over the weekend with zero problems and the card was no where near the limit. He reads back my information and makes me read my card info to him for a TOTAL OF SEVEN TIMES AND IT WAS THE EXACT SAME INFORMATION that had been taken down the day of my move as it was written down on my receipt. Extremely frustrated, he insists this is my credit card company's fault even though I told him I just used the card as most recently as dinner last night with zero issues. So I tell him I'm calling the credit card company and hang up. The credit card company confirms what I already knew that there is no issue with my credit card and that there is no reason on the credit card company's end why the charge would not go through. They told me the issue was with the merchant. While I have gone through the trouble of speaking with the credit card company to try and resolve Community movers problems, I get a text from Travis while I'm on the phone literally minutes after I just hung up with him threatening to take me to small claims court if I don't pay them by the end of the week! I conference called Travis with my credit card company who tell him the same information that I told him. However, once he found out he was on a recorded line he refused to say anything to the credit card company when I'm trying to resolve his issue! We hang up I call him back and miraculously he says he was able to get the charge go through. How shady is that? Just to recap: 1) The movers wrote down all my information credit card info correctly on the receipt. Again great job to Daniel and Julio for their hard work. 2) Travis the office manager harasses me for payment when my card is clearly working 3) I go out of my way to call the credit card company to try and resolve this for Community Movers and he threatens to take me to small claims court! 4) neither my credit card company nor myself did anything besides reiterate to him that the issue was on his end. 5) he miraculously gets the card working and issues zero apology for his harassment and threats. It concerns me what he was actually doing with my credit card information. I absolutely cannot recommend this company based on what happened with the office manager. read more

Moving from a 3rd floor apartment to a house isn't easy, the skinny apartment stairs with some of the bigger furniture we had was a scary thought and I didn't want just anyone doing it and these guys were reassuring from the very beginning! We did not have a good experience with this company. Maybe it was the crew we got, maybe not. We initially had three guys, and they were slow. Also they messed up some of our stuff. I emailed them about it to see if they would cover replacement costs, and I never got a response. I also had to pay for a second move because they couldn't fit everything in the truck the first time. The guys in the second crew were a little quicker, but overall I wouldn't use them again or recommend them to anyone. It took longer to move from Fort Worth to Plano with a total of 5 movers and two trucks (we had a two bedroom house and a full garage, by the way) than it took us to move from Austin to Fort Worth with two guys a year ago. Great moving experience. I had a lot of trouble with my previous moving company leaving me frustrated and my furniture locked up in a storage unit. Moved from Dallas Love area to Plano (1.5 bedroom). Talked to Travis, the office manager here in Dallas. Nice guy and followed up immediately. No BS and sent over all the information which was clearly laid out (unlike others). $50 deposit is reasonable vs. some companies will make you deposit a certain percentage before pickup and again before delivery. Quick turnaround and immediate availability. Called on a Fri. set up for Sun. morning (could've done Sat.). Guys showed up at 8:15 for an 8-10 window. Careful movers and no time wasted. Set things up and built the bed, even helped me get something from my car. Can't complain. Would use again. read more

I chose these movers because of the price and because of their reviews but I have to say it wasn't a five star experience and it ended up being as expensive as the other competitors. First I would like to share that booking the move was pretty easy however Travis stopped communicating with me on the day of the move which made things kind of complicated. I had asked him to call me and he would only text me. When he called me to book it he said that they would be moving me from 12 to 3pm so I assumed that meant they would show up at 12. I had also asked that I get called 30 minutes prior to them coming so I could make sure I was ready for them to arrive. But the day before my move I got a text from him saying that I should expect the movers between the hours of 12 and three which is very different. So that is something to know if you plan to use them. At 1:30 I was texting Travis trying to find out where the guys were and he told me that their truck had broken down and he would have to send a new crew. At 2 o'clock the guys showed up but I didn't get a call in advance. The movers, Jose and Jordan were very polite and helped to diffuse the situation by assuring me they would do a great job. Once we had left my house I got a call from another set of movers saying that they were ready to move me and they were at my house and I had to explain to them that I already had movers and they needed to talk to Travis. This mover was very upset over the phone and said he had driven over an hour to get to my house and all I could tell him was I'm sorry you'll have to contact Travis. So it seems that communication was breaking down internally in their company and I could not get a hold of Travis. And it sounds like Travis wasn't communicating with his movers either so I wasn't the only one having trouble reaching him. I had also let Travis know 4 days in advance that they would not need to move my baby grand piano but when the first set of guys showed up they told me they could not move it but another crew would and I had to remind them I already told the company I didn't need the piano moved and it wasn't necessary. I also had a text from Travis confirming that he knew that I would not need a piano mover that day. Again breakdown in communication between the dispatch and the movers. Although we started two hours later than I had planned and was told by Travis- 5 stars to José and Jordan for expert moving. Joel was new and was learning the ropes and dented a piece of my furniture moving it in the apartment. I understand he is new but I was charged for 3 experienced movers and he was definitely slower and lacking experience and sense of urgency. All 3 of them were very professional and courteous! I was moving from a house to a one bedroom apartment with an elevator and it took 4 hours. I think it should've been completed in three but again they had a new guy and I think he slowed the crew down. Also I was impressed with how well they did in the summer heat and they were very accommodating to help me with what I requested. I moved all the fragile things in my car and they took the big stuff. Hopefully this was just a one time situation for them and the breakdown of communication again between their dispatch office and the movers was a fluke but I ended up getting slightly stressed out because of it. I'd had plans that night because I'd hoped to get the move done between the hours of 12 and three at the latest 4pm and I had something to do at six and I had to cancel everything that night. But overall I did get moved and like I said they were very nice but I'm disappointed in the lack of communication from Travis on the day of the move. I will contact them tomorrow and see if they will come back and try to fix this. This was my first experience with a moving company (I've just lugged stuff around in the past), and I'm glad I worked with them! Although Joe and DeJohn (sp?) arrived a bit late, they called me ahead of time to communicate a head's up. Upon arrival, they scoped out what I needed moved, and then they jumped right in. It was a hot day, and I had many things to transport (although they assured me it was relatively nothing), but they had great attitudes, wrapped everything up nicely, and enjoyed each other's company with hearty laughter and more "yeah, bruh!"s than the high schoolers whom I teach. When we arrived at the new location, they once again tackled the work. They asked me where everything needed to go, dismissed any of my offers to help, and even offered to assemble my bed for free despite running out of time. Unfortunately, I left the screws and screwdrivers at my old place, so I'll be tinkering into the dead of night on my own. (The base of one of my lamps ended up broken, and a shelf pin from my bookcase was lost, but I found that completely understandable and not for lack of attention and dedication on their part.) I accidentally forgot to sign 3 of the 4 needed signatures (I know, who does that?), and instead of becoming rightly frustrated, they met me back at my old place half an hour later, still with the most pleasant attitudes one can have after four hours of grueling labor. I had a great experience with Community Moving! It was very simple to get a quote online and communication was easy to work out a date and time. I had an arrival window of 9:00-10:00 and I got a call at 8:45 saying they were on their way, after which they arrived at 9:05 and immediately got to work. Julio, Daniel, and Joel were awesome, super friendly, and very efficient in getting all of my stuff packed onto the truck. They made sure to ask how I wanted things packed and they were careful with all of my things, wrapping items that needed extra protection. They unloaded everything with the same care and skill, checking where I wanted things placed and offering to help move things around when I changed my mind.
