Parking in complex. It's a cute cafe, limited seats but we were able to sit in the couches with the chess table. Staff were super friendly and patient with our service. I ordered a dirty chai which the spice and milk ratio was great. I got the kale Caesar with crispy chicken, went healthy but not. The seasoning of the chicken was delicious, it was a lot of kale and not as much dressing. Maybe if it had iceberg with the kale it might've been easier to chew -- or more dressing? Either way, still great! My daughters got the grilled cheese and croissant with apple juices. They loved it! We will be coming back more often! read more

Such a hidden gem tucked away in the corner. I absolutely love this cafe spot. I wish it was closer to my house. I absolutely love the fact that everything is homemade. You may have to wait a little bit for your food but it definitely worth the wait. I decided to get the sunrise breakfast wrap and wow it was very delicious even with no seasoning and nothing inside of it. The prices are very reasonable and you always get a big portion with whatever you order here. The owner here is so incredibly sweet . I love this cafe and I love all of the seasonal decorations. I hate to write a poor review on a place that seems to have so many 5 star reviews, as a matter of fact, that's why we tried it...again but I have to be honest. I tried this place quite a while ago, and ordered gf bread on my sandwich that was impossible to eat, as the bread just fell apart. Based on the great reviews, we decided to try it again, and ordered out, so this review is based solely on the food. The Cuban sandwich was not good. It is smoked pulled pork, taylor ham, swiss (which was absent from my sandwich), pickles, and habenaro mustard. The bread is good, but I think its cut too thick for a sandwich, and it's not the typical bread used for Cuban sandwiches. The smokey pulled pork overwhelmed the sandwich, and the taylor ham might as well be left out, as you can't taste it at all. The swiss was forgotten, but the habenero mustard brought the heat. I've had lots of Cuban sandwiches before, and know this is their "take" on it, but I felt like I was just eating spicy, smoked pulled pork, no where near a Cuban sandwich. Also, Cuban sandwiches are usually flattened, where this sandwich, the bread wasn't even toasted. I threw half the sandwich away, and for the cost of it, that's a shame. The other meal we got was the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Again, the bread seems cut too thick, the bread is toasted with parmesan cheese, but not soft, and apparently, I'm not a fan of havarti. The soup seemed more like tomato SAUCE, not soup. I don't think I'll try this place again. I don't get the hype. read more

Recently found this gem and just love it! Have been there for breakfast and lunch and takeout and each experience was marvelous. The food is absolutely delicious! The service is the epitome of "service with a smile"! I also purchased a gift certificate for the holidays! I can't wait to take one of their classes in the near future and to join their book club! We ordered lunch to go from Comfort Kitchen Cafe and were so impressed, we dined in for brunch a couple of days later! Lunch- We ordered to go the Godfather Part 2 and the Big Ben sandwiches. The bread is perfectly soft, and the flavors are on point. The stracciatella, salami, prosciutto, and red pepper relish combo of the Godfather was absolute perfection. We got a cookie croissant as well and it was SO good- flaky croissant on the outside, warm chocolate chip cookie on the inside. Brunch- We dined in and loved the homey vibes. The inside is quaint, bright, and welcoming. This time we opted for the grilled cheese and tomato soup - a seemingly simple combo, but Comfort Kitchen elevated it with a Parmesan crust and a tomato soup that is some of the best I've ever tried. I went with the 2 eggs your way with sour dough (made in house!) and a side of bacon. The accompanying breakfast potatoes were so crispy, and everything was absolutely delicious. The first time was in May & I had a delicious Crispy Chicken sandwich however the service was not welcoming or warm but since I was in a dark place personally I brushed it off to my inner turmoil. Today I decided to try again and not only was the service horrible the food did not come close to the $30 I spent. I am a Latina woman and I hate to think that the way I was treated had to do with my race but it's how I felt both times walking into this place. My experience was as follows... I wanted to sit outside so my plan was to order at the counter and take it outside but I was told they would bring me a menu...ok! The menu was brought but that was the end of service as I waited about 15 minutes for someone to return...fine I'll go in & order! The owner apologized & took my order...BLT w/ roast beef & cheddar cheese. I go back out...food comes, nice young man brings my food...sandwich has no bacon & dry (smidge of mayo) no 2 minute check...I served through college. I go back in...I get the look...the what now look..."there's no bacon on my BLT" hand to her and walk out to my table. 2 minutes later it comes back to me with cold dry bacon that was just thrown on top, again not a single check in, until 30 minutes later to ask "would you like anything else" I'm guessing it's time for the check to be dropped! It is. Go in pay and leave because although I bleed red & my money is green I feel very unwelcome. This is the point I dust off my sandals and never go back BUT not without speaking out on this horrible experience because NOBODY should be treated this way!!! read more

Unfortunately my experience at this restaurant was mediocre. It looks very outdated along with the dish wear. The food took 45 minutes for 2 people and, of course I had to find a hair in my food!!! They servers aren't even required to put their hair up which is standard food safety. The bathroom was also very dirty and I took it upon myself to clean some layers of dust off the counter and decorations in there. I wanted to like this place since it's a small local business, but I just can't recommend it. The staff is nice, so I will give them 2 stars. They have hope but definitely need to make some changes, including the implementation of uniforms and servers having their hair tied back! Go to oasis diner or Pompton Queen! read more

This place might have potential, but my experience was frustrating and went downhill from the start really. I got in and asked for a table but eventually had to go back up to ask again because they had forgotten, at which point the manager just points to an open (but dirty) table. I had been waiting for the original hostess to come back with a menu and seat me as she was doing for everyone else, so kind of odd that I was expected to find an open seat on my own. While my table was being cleaned I asked if I could sit at another open table (both were 2-seaters) she said yes but then the manager told me that that table was going to be for the party (2) that came in after me (they were still in the waiting area), so that was also weird as I was there first, both tables were for parties of 2 so I should have been able to have my pick between the 2 without a problem. Service didn't improve after that. I never once had anyone come by to check on me, Just someone to take my order, drop my food, and later hand me a box and the check. At that point it was clear I wasn't being treated like a valued guest at all. And the food? The pancakes had a bitter taste, and the eggs were undercooked. I could see potential if things were done right, but my meal only confirmed the lack of care that showed in the service. I was honestly curious what the issue was with how I was treated and then I noticed another one-star review here mentioning race. We absolutely loved this sweet place near where my daughter lives. Everything is so fresh including hot baked sourdough bread and soups. The arugula salad was amazing with sliced apples, pecans and blue cheese. The hand cut fries were crispy and hard to resist. They were a great accompaniment to our delicious beef fillet sandwich. Service was very attentive and the place feels homey. Comfort Kitchen has earned a spot on my list of great dining options in the area which are often hard to find. read more

I wanted to love this place but unfortunately it was not good. The pros are it was super clean, coffee was in fact good like other reviews stated and staff was super nice. The cons are the food was terrible. Just not good. We got a kid's pancakes (off of the kid's menu) and 3 platters of 2 eggs/potatoes/toast/choice of meat. Everything was super bland. The bacon was ok and so were the regular potatoes. We all had scrambled eggs that were very runny (not scrambled soft like globs of clear egg white throughout). The sausage was a strange chorizo kind of sausage patty and the sweet potato hash was just not good at all. The kid's pancake was just 1 large super dry and crumbly pancake. Unfortunately everyone at the table could not finish their food or come close. To be honest, we went home and I made breakfast. Will not return unless it's just for the coffee. read more

Jersey diners, look no further! Comfort kitchen is a brand new breakfast/lunch eatery right here in Kinnelon, NJ! Desperate for a pick me up while out on my sales route, a quick google search brought me to Comfort Kitchen Cafe and I'm so glad it did! As I walked inside to a charming country style cafe, I was greeted warmly by the cafe's staff and took a seat at the counter where Clemence, the barista, took great care of me! To her recommendations I tried their special s'mores latte of the week, which was an absolute delight. She also suggested I try the chef's special scramble, this week's was a shroom scramble which intrigued me as I do love mushrooms; and let me tell you it did not disappoint! A few bites in and I was in heaven, and I even got a chance to meet the talented chef/owner, David, and his wife/business partner Bri! I gave them my praises and we enjoyed lovely conversation of their journey to opening their new cafe and a job well done to them! I loved my experience so much I simply had to inform the Yelp universe! We love stopping in at Comfort Kitchen so much so that we recently hosted my daughter's first birthday here and I could not be more blown away by how perfect it was or more grateful to Brianna for making it so very easy for us. She thought of everything, her team decorated the place adorably, and our guests raved about the food. Food was freshly made.The pancakes...the pancakes.... I also had a vegetable medley of sweet potatoes and broccoli decorated with an over EZ egg. Delectable!
