I have been told that this place was absolutely off the charts. I came in here to experience it myself it's one of those old fashion next-door kind of restaurants like a mom and pop kind of restaurant. I was told that the pancakes were top notch one of the best you ever had. So that's what we ordered and I have to say I was disappointed because to me they were just too thick and filling some people may really like that. I love pancakes this to me would just rate average. Came back to get my egg cheese and bacon biscuit. Not as good as the first time but still good. Hubby liked it. I ordered collard greens and fried chicken, too. Collard greens tasted like it was from the can and didn't have much flavor and the chicken was uneventful - no seasoning and a tad dry. Hot sauce didn't help it either. The sweet tea, however, was perfectly flavored. As was the last time I went, the staff were friendly and attentive. We went around 2 and it was pretty quiet. I liked that while there were about 20 people in the restaurant there wasn't a lot of noise and people used their inside voices, even the kids next to us. At one point we were the only ones in there and it was great to glance at the TV once in a while and not have it blasting at you like at other restaurants. We were able to have our one on one meeting and I found it better than going to Starbucks or some coffee shop. The staff were still attentive after we ate. We'll definitely come back. read more

Oh My Goodness - I found my Southern and Greek Food spot ! The minute I saw them lighting up the smokers in the parking lot of this small family restaurant I knew I had to try the food. Before I went inside, curiosity got the best of me and I wandered over to the smokers to see what the young man, Ian, was doing. I was amazed when he put Meatloaf into the smoker. I had never heard of Smoked Meatloaf before. Right there and then the decision as to what to order was made. The Smoked Meatloaf was delicious and moist with just the right amount of smokey flavor. I got to pick my sides so with the owners help, I chose Squash Casserole, Collard Greens and Cornbread. Everything was delicious! On another visit, I discovered that Come-N-Get-It not only serves great Southern Food but that the family is Greek and have a great Greek menu as well. I thought I'd check it out: The Gyro Pita Wrap was delicious! The meat was spiced just right and the Tzatziki sauce was fresh and had great flavor. Yum. Will not be coming back... As a lover of Southern style food, I've been wanting to eat at this place for a very long time. While walking in there was a huge menu on the outside wall with a lot of types of food. This made me think of all the times that Gordon Ramsey has said that there is no way small restaurants can have a huge diverse menu and keep the quality consistant and still serve everything fresh. Inside, your order at a counter and then you pick your food up. This part I actually like because that means the drinks are self-serve and I hate to wait for servers to bring me re-fills. This type of service also means you generally pay a little bit less. I did notice that was both southern style food and Greek food on the menu. I then saw that the owner was Greek so that made sense. There was a display case with at least 20 desserts. Cakes, Pies, and Baklava all looked delicious. In fact they looked so good, that my wife and I decided to split a meal so we could save room for dessert. It was dinner time, but we still ordered breakfast, the "Southern Buttermilk Pancake Breakfast... Pancakes, Sausage, and Hash browns. The picture showed a biscuit on the plate and my 9 year old son just wanted a biscuit so this worked out fine. Our order was $14.00 which seems a bit pricey for self service food. Especially just one pancake meal, and a couple extra drinks. I later found out that we were charged extra for the biscuit. There menu showed a picture of a biscuit but the description of the meal didn't list it. Hmmm. Our food was brought to us by the cashier because we were the only people there, and she was kind enough to bring us an extra plate, even though we didn't ask. Very thoughtful. The first thing we noticed was that my son's biscuit was hard, yet spongy. As if it was old and then microwaved. It was also a bit burned on the bottom. We asked for a new one, and they brought us out another rock hard old biscuit. My pancakes were not burned, yet had burned flakes on them as did the hash browns. This let me know that they were cooked on a dirty griddle. Because of the burned taste, I only had a few bites. The texture of the pancakes were also a little strange. Had these been cooked earlier and then microwaved? I didn't even bother asking for something else. I was just too irritated. My wife also just ate a few bites and didn't finish. The sausage patties were a bit tough, as if reheated or microwaved. The syrup that we were given was in plastic packs. I would have liked to have had a few options of syrup in bottles on the table. But this place seems to like easy and convenient instead of quality. All in all, not one thing on my plate was even average. I guess that's a problem with ordering breakfast food at dinner time. You get microwaved leftovers. The owner was sitting at the counter on a laptop. Because were the only ones there we we were waiting for him, or anyone else, to come by and ask us how our meal was. No one did. If one person would have come by our table, they would have noticed that we weren't eating our food. If someone had come by, fixed the problem, then maybe they would have saved us as a customer. But instead I feel like once they had my money they didn't care anymore. We decided not to get dessert, because I didn't want to give this place anymore of my money. Even though they looked delicious, I was wondering how old they were. After all, I couldn't tell if this place did enough business to justify having 20 cakes and pies in a display case, and I couldn't trust them at this point to be sure that everything was fresh. I went into the bathroom to wash my hands. There was a funky/musty smell and a an air freshener container sitting on the sink. There were four or five rolls of toilet paper sitting on the handicap handrail because there was no toilet paper holder. While I'm not a germaphobe (I'll eat at the greasiest of spoons with a "D" rating if the food is good) I don't like the idea of toilet paper falling off and rolling across a bathroom floor then getting put back up. The fact that this place won't spend $5 on a toilet paper holder sends a signal. The toilet looked very clean, but there was a moldy area in the corner which I assume is where the funky smell came from. While the bathroom was not dirty, I wouldn't call it clean either. I am soooo disappointed, because I had been wanting to visit this place for sometime. I love small non-chain restaurants. The ones I like I will go to again and again. I wish this would have been one of those places. read more

I'll tell you right now why there are so many varying reviews on this place. If you come in and get the fried chicken and some sides, and a dessert, you'll walk away with a 4 star rating or higher. If you don't come here for the fried chicken, and you get something else (maybe to be healthy?) you'll sit around looking at everyone eating the fried chicken and going mmmm yummmm mmmm while you are eating whatever it is you are eating (grilled chicken, hamburger, etc) with envy. Someone else hit the nail right on the head, if you are a small mom and pop restaurant don't try to cater to everyone with a huge diverse menu. Do a few things you are good at and let that be. The people that work there are very friendly, the service is good, the owner gives back to the community and is a great part of it, so it's very sad for me to land on a 3 star here, but they definitely can improve the operation and have room to get this to 5 star. read more

We hadn't been to Come-N-Get It since covid-19 started because I refuse to eat indoors yet. Since we missed their food we decided to order take-out through Yelp. When I arrived I noticed the plexiglass barriers at the counter and the huge jugs of hand sanitizer. All the staff were wearing masks. Our order was ready within seconds of arriving. The staff, as usual, was very friendly and efficient. When we got the food home we found the order was perfect and delicious. We would still prefer to eat at a table at the restaurant but this is our life right now. Come-N-Get It is helping to make things as normal as possible. Okay, I know this is a bad rating but it is accurate. Ordered delivery. My husband had fried chicken, okra and blackeyed peas. He said the chicken was so dry it tasted like cardboard. The peas were edible, and apparently canned. The okra appeared to be the frozen type previously fried and sitting out for a while. I had veggie plate: squash casserole, speckled butter beans, cabbage and potato salad. Haven't tried the potato salad yet, but my butter beans were not included but I did get 2 orders of squash casserole which was too bad as both servings were burned. It was like they scraped the small amount left in a warming tray and all sides and bottom were black. It's been a while since we have had such a dreadful meal. read more

Perhaps the best biscuit in the area. Flaky with just a slight crispness on top were it's been brushed with butter and returned to the oven for a few moments. They're so flaky that it makes it hard to eat a breakfast biscuit sandwich without the aid of a knife and fork, but it's worth it. Their fried chicken lunch with two sides is one of my favorites. NO THANK YOU! We ended up here by default because we are away from home and at the southern end of biscuit country. Uggghh! As soon as I walk in, I want to walk out but we just did that next door and we were hungry. However, I still would have left had I not been with my husband who is way more adaptable than I am. So let's just get right into it. The is a very old structure that could use a major renovation and a good scrubbing. It has a "broken down" country aesthetic and not something I feel comfortable recommending. There is no table service and you must order at the counter like a commoner, Ugghh! I really didn't care for the menu because there were no fresh options and I knew that if I just ordered water, my husband would be uncomfortable. I ordered what I thought was a turkey sausage, egg and biscuit. I don't care for biscuits but we are in biscuit country and the options are very limited. My husband ordered the western omelet with hashbrowns and toast. He also ordered a pancake out of curiosity. Once you order, you have a seat and they yell your name as they deliver your food. My husband's pancake came out first and I don't care what they say, it wasn't made from scratch. If it doesn't look and smell like the ones I make at home, it came from a mix. Homemade pancakes do not smell like cupcakes! When I asked the young waitress how the pancakes were made, she didn't know and stated that they do prepare the mix every morning and while I wanted to grill her, I couldn't because "Mr. Rogers" was starting to squirm. So here's the deal, you can't ask them if the pancakes are made from scratch because they think that if you use a mix and add the egg and water, you are preparing it from scratch. For some, as long as it didn't come from the freezer or pop up from the toaster, it's made from scratch. Sad but true! My husband's western style omelet arrived and there was nothing western about it. It was filled with barbecued beef and tomatoes and I'm sure that I had to still my urge to vomit. What in the world? The biscuit arrives and it reminds me of a southern quilt, warm and heavy and not intended for eating. There is no egg and I can only imagine that when they decided to add the cheddar cheese, they placed it in a 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon, leveled it off, melted it down and used only half of that to smear on the center of the top of the biscuit. So basically, I took a piece of my husband's omelet and scraped the barbecue off and applied it to a small piece of the center of the biscuit and ate the sausage. Although "mad hungry", I learned my lesson and waited until I arrived home two hours later to get a decent meal. It it doesn't feel right, don't do it! I was out and about yesterday morning with my son searching for some breakfast. I wanted to swing by Mountain Biscuits, but it turns out they are closed on Sundays. On the way, we passed by this place with a full parking lot and the smokers doing their thing (nothing better than the smell of meat being smoked). I swear I've driven past this area multiple times but for some reason never noticed it. Anyways, fast forward several hours to dinner time. I ended up taking my whole family there for a good southern meal after checking out some of the reviews and pictures. The place is very casual, you order at the counter and the people that work there are about as friendly as can be. I tried the smoked meatloaf with squash casserole and fired green tomatoes. I thought smoking the meatloaf gave it a little extra something vs. what you normally get at your run of the meal southern joints. The squash casserole was the hit at the table as I had to fend off my wife and son (yes, a 9 year old boy actually wanting veggies) as they tried to rob me of my "yellow gold" as so named by the server. My family all seemed to enjoy their selections as well: pancake breakfast for one of my kids (they serve breakfast all day), chili dogs for my other boy and then my wife had the bbq pork. We even tried some banana pudding for dessert, and it was devoured. This is a great place to go for a quick southern meal at any time of the day. I loved the casual atmosphere but more importantly, I appreciate the kindness of the owners running this establishment and that is what drove me to give it a 5 star review. read more

I was starving after hiking Kennesaw mountain and decided to check this place out. The place has a homey, Southern feel. The dining room consists of four top tables with checkerboard tablecloths. It is cute. It is a quick service concept with you having to order and pick up your meal at the counter. Since it was slow, they hand delivered the food to me which was nice. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with mac and cheese and collard greens. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The menu boasts that it spiced according to their secret recipe, but the only spice I tasted was salt - lots and lots of salt. It overwhelmed the flavor of the chicken. The mac and cheese was OK; it was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The collard greens were bland to say the least. It didn't taste like it was cooked with meat at all which was disappointing. It tasted like nothing was added to them at all. Lastly, the biscuit that came with the meal wasn't soft or flaky. It was hard and dry, like they microwaved an old biscuit. There was very little flavor. The owner does come around and check on you which is nice. However, I think I will try other places next time I am in the area. I have a family member in a hospital near this restaurant. On Saturday night we went as a large party. One order was messed up but the concern from the young man and woman was above and beyond. Now this is where it gets real. The owner stood up unprompted and thanked god for his customers, his employees and veterans. He then went around greeting each customer. When he got to me , I told him why I was in the area. He stopped the entire restaurant to pray for my friend that's in the hospital. Praise the lord lord and bless this man! I've heard such great things about this place, so I finally decided to give it a try. I love the greasy spoon type of place and this place sure looked like it fit the bill. I ordered my go-to at this type of establishment, country fried steak, collard greens and mashed potatoes and gravy. What I got was an over-fried hamburger that was coated in batter with the most bitter greens I've ever tasted. To quote Alan Jackson, "it ain't like momma fixed it"! The food I saw going to other patrons looked pretty good, but mine was not. With its name and location I didn't expect much, but this place blew me away. It's more comforting on the inside than the outside makes it out to be. Plenty of patriotic decor and sports memorabilia around the room. The staff was friendly upon arrival and because it wasn't busy, the owner came out and talked with us for a while about our background and his. He apparently is involved in a prestigious rental car and chauffeur service and claimed to have met numerous celebrities who had even stopped in to eat at the place. I believed him because of how high-end the memorabilia is and he showed us a video he took at a New England Patriots game, where he apparently has season tickets. He still seemed humble, though, by asking about us and offering us all a free slice of pie for being first time visitors. My food was phenomenal. The grilled chicken was juicy and had a spice to it. The green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy all tasted homemade, and my Texas toast was crispy but still soft. I ended up having to get my chocolate pie to go and eating it later that night. I'd describe it as rich chocolate mousse with an Oreo crust topped with whipped cream. If I'm ever in Atlanta again I'll definitely try to make my way back. read more

I have ordered numerous meals from them. and they were always fresh and cooked perfectly...until today. My coworker and I order chicken fried chicken, which I have order at least 2 other times and it was delicious. However, I don't know if they had a different cook today or what, but EVERYTHING was overcooked. The broccoli casserole was so mushy my coworker couldn't eat it. The fried green tomatoes were overcooked, and the chicken was almost burned! Even the cornbread was too dark and dry. I am very disappointed. If this is how the food is going to be now, I can't waste my hard-earned money on something I can't even eat or enjoy. I know you can do better, so I hope you do. read more

Such a great spot and the Tiliasco family are first class folk. Nick brought lunch for our team today and the food was excellent. The white gravy was rich and just the right amount of pepper for spice. Flat pole beans reminded of my grandmothers from her garden when I was a kid. My parents and I tried this place after randomly finding it on Yelp. The food wasn't all the great, but the service was great. I had the meatloaf along with green beans and Mac and cheese. The meatloaf was decent, the green beans were super yummy, and I didn't eat much of my Mac and cheese as it was not good. The sweet tea is perfection though! This place was a "hidden gem" discovery: the inside looks way better than the outside. The AC isn't too freezing cold. The food tastes better than it looks and has a true southern, homey kind of vibe. The Greek owners also make Greek dishes! I got the Kennestone Platter and it gave a good sampling of the basic egg, bacon, sausage, grits, biscuit w/ gravy...at $7.49. Their prices are good and I tried my friend's smoked meatloaf: sooo tasty. They forgot my gravy and when I just asked about it they brought the gravy and gave me an extra biscuit--super nice! I think they should create another special platter called the Big Family Breakfast Platter or something and just have one of everything (including pancakes, chicken w/ waffle, country fried steak, etc on it, so a table of friends or a family who can't make up their minds can just quickly order one big sampler and make everyone happy.
