Chicken livers, fried squash, mashed potatoes, biscuit, and sweet tea
    Danny P.

Best chicken livers I've had in over 20 years! I've lived in Paulding for almost 25 years and I can't believe I didn't know about this place! Very small but every table was full on a Tuesday at lunchtime! Will definitely be back! Now, to go walk off these lbs. that I just consumed!

French toast with 2 eggs, no meat, 2 eggs, bacon (3 strips), hashbrowns, toast, and gravy, 2 coffees. Delicious!

Joan's aka Sugar Biscuits is a great local family owned restaurant serving breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. I had the Breakfast plate with Bacon (3 strips), 2 eggs, hashbrowns, gravy, and toast. My wife had the French toast plate with 2 eggs, no meat. Both had coffee. Everything was delicious. The servers were friendly and we could tell there were many regulars. Highly recommend this place, price was slightly less than similar restraurants. Only wish they had a breakfast plate with one side option.

Southern Home Cooking at its best. Now called Sugar Biscuits, my husband and I decided to give it a try. I know this establishment has been here for years but we never stopped in. I am now kicking myself for not eating here sooner. The food is fresh and made in house daily. The service is friendly and treats you like family. Come on in, pull up a seat, and enjoy. I personally recommend the country fried steak and the corn nuggets. Hubby recommends the fried green tomatoes.

Local. I love local. That being said, food often takes a bit. Breakfast is OK. It looks right, tastes ok. Nothing memorable. I will be back when I don't want to drive further for some eggs and pancakes, but I won't be rushing back.

Comfort food and more! I highly recommend Joan's. I was visiting from out of town, and the friendly atmosphere and home cooking selections! Dining area was crowded but clean, and service was fast. Try the grilled chicken wrap hot- i got it with chicken, onion, green peppers, Swiss and mushrooms---it tasted like a Chicken Philly in a wrap! Three of us ate on $35, so vey affordable.

First of all, this is a Pepsi restaurant. As a loyal Coca Cola customer, I feel like there should be a warning. That being said, you know it's a good diner when there are ads on the menus and cups. I don't know why that's a factor, but I can't say I've been to a breakfast/lunch spot with advertisements that hasn't been good. I had the pancakes and bacon, because I am a full supporter of "breakfast all day" and my dad had the meat + two option, with country fried steak, green beans, + fried okra. The pancakes were pretty good, the bacon was alright, but the okra was worth stealing. I genuinely regret not having pancakes + fried okra. Or just fried okra. My dad thoroughly enjoyed his lunch though, ate every last bite. The staff was very friendly, it's a seat yourself situation but we were immediately greeted + asked for our drink orders. Food came out relatively quickly, we'll definitely stop by again the next time we're on that side of town!

The world needs more places like Joan's. I A great place for a good country breakfast with good country people. It was my first time and I could tell right away everyone knew each Luther but my wife and I. Didn't take long to make a friend and enjoy a cup of seriously SUPER COFFEE!!! Come in, relax and grab anything they offer.

I think the fact that it isn't modern styled is its best feature. Food is good and it makes me feel at home every time I go.

Not in the staff but there are some minor interior issues which could be addressed. As the dining area and service areas are open plan you can easily see the duct tape doors to the dishwashers area is in dire need of repair versus patching. Also it is rather filthy along the edges. The wall a/c unit also needs to be completely cleaned as it appears to have some grime building up. Now for the biggest disappointment ... our food. Coffee - yummy Country fried steak biscuit..... yea nope not again. It's just like it says just a huge very thin slice of commercial packaged frozen patty of country fried steak laid across an open faced biscuit. I had a side of fresh fruit. But it was mostly out of season fruit so not sweet and still underripe. Biscuit was light and fluffy but I had to order a piece of cheese and some gravy to hide the flavor of the meat and coating. Chicken and waffles - husband's favorite here but today it wasn't the same at all. Chicken was super dry inside. Waffles he described as no different than ones he makes at the hotel lobby. All in all we will wait some before returning to try again at some point. Thank you to the wait staff for always having smiles and helping each other to keep us happy.

After utilizing…read morethe Yelp search tool to be my personal guide to the restaurants Powder Springs, I decided to head over to Hiram to try out Big Doug's. After seeing the pictures of everyone else's food I had to go. Big Doug's was super easy to find and the parking was easily accessible (even after I missed the first turn in). Once parked, we headed inside and were met with a smiling car who welcomed us into Big Doug's, confirmed our party size (2), and immediately took us to our booth. First off... kudos on the stellar service. I'm talking top tier welcome, pleasant greetings, and a warm closing. The young lady was AMAZING! As I headed to my booth I was captivated by the size of Big Doug's as this place is hugeeeeeeee. However, though it is huge, there is a warm, cozy atmosphere that reminds you of a mom and pop diner in a small town Hallmark film. LoL Once seated, we were greeted by Haven and Haven made sure to continue with the stellar service that stayed at the door. I loveeeeeeeee Haven. She was so pleasant. Very warm, attentive to the needs of the table, and had a bubbly personality that was ideal for a Saturday morning interaction. Haven is the waitress you read about in reviews but never get to meet in real life... Well, I did. Ha!!!!!! The menu fits the vibe and provides a variety of home cooked classics. Me being me, I decided on French Toast and Hot Links with a Sweet Tea... Let's talk food... French Toast: Warm, crispy edges, chewy center, perfectly made, amazing flavor profile. I ordered one but now I know to order four next time because it was amazing. I'll use all my carbs for the day on these. Hot Links: I told Haven to tell the cook that I needed them dark like me and they understood the assignment. My hot links were crunchy on each side but meaty and juicy in the middle. Oh yes, these links were done right. Sweet Tea: Listen... Two Words: More Please!!! It was so good I needed a cup to go... trust... if you know me (or my reviews) you know I don't play about my sweet tea. Big Doug's sweet tea can be put in a bottle and sold at the front, because I need four of these as well. All in all, my experience at Big Doug's was amazing. It lives up to the branding of "Fried, Tried, and Southern Certified!" Ooh... I almost forgot... They have the cleanest and prettiest bathrooms this side of the Mississippi. To the owner and management of Big Doug's, thank you. You are appreciated. Your team represents the brand very well and the experience is top tier. #iApprove

The salad isn't considered a side so you pay extra. Fried chicken was tasty but only lukewarm. Cornbread was a huge disappointment and even butter couldn't save it. Strawberry cobbler was more strawberry and tasted like it was on the warmer just a wee bit long. Maybe ice cream would have helped..... Their iced tea was top notch and the server was very nice.
