Service doesn't really stick out to me, but I've never had any issues with their service to begin with, and their ambiance is quick and casual. Personally, I don't care about the outdated decor; it's quite nostalgic for me, especially when there's many new restaurants opening in the same area.

I ordered their Bun Rieu to go and the banh cuon for dine in. They give a variety of meat for the Banh cuon which is cinnamon ham (Cha Que), viet ham (cha lua), and fermented ham (nem chua). It's garnished with fried shallots, and served with your typical bean sprouts and fish sauce. I thought there was a good ratio of Woodear mushrooms and ground pork inside the rice rolls. I noticed their Banh cuon is not as greasy as other places I've tried which I also really enjoyed. The fish sauce was a perfect level of sweet and salty. All it was missing was Thai chilis as I like my fish sauce spicy! I have not tried the bun rieu yet but will score them 10/10 on the to go packaging as the bowl has the broth separated from the noodles so it doesn't get soggy! I will definitely be back.

The ambiance is really nice and the servers are very attentive and responsive for the most part. There was a time they told us that they would bring us more rice but they ended up not bringing it and there was a slight communication barrier but nothing too crazy. The food that we ordered was pretty good. It's not spectacular or particularly flavorful but it gets the job done when you're really hungry. The shrimp appetizer and the rice paper, the fried one, is delicious. The three flavors whole fish was okay. I feel like the fish needed its own flavor and it was slightly overfried but it was fine. We came here on a whim after a doctor's appointment nearby. Eating pho after any doctor visit has kinda become our tradition. No rhyme or reason, just a fun excuse to go on a date. We are very familiar with Duluth but while she was being seen, I googled local pho restaurants to see if I could find someplace new. I was truly surprised to find 15 PHO restaurants within a 2-mile radius of our location. We typically go to I LUV PHO or Pho Dai Loi #3, but I wanted to try someplace new in hopes of discovering a new favorite, and a new favorite I have found! [ SIDE NOTE ] Often in life people qualify something as authentic based on their own experience from childhood to adulthood. I too was absolutely passionate about reviewing any place claiming to have Chicago pizza or hot dogs and would argue authenticity. I first tried pho in September of 2014, but I've been deeply addicted ever since and it truly has become a comfort food. My first experience was near here at What The Pho (simply because I liked the name). But my addiction came once I was introduced to Lotus Vietnamese near the H-Mart, which has since closed. Between first being introduced to pho and now I've probably averaged about 2-3 bowls per month and more than that in the beginning. I also made it a habit of trying pho in any city or state we visited and might eat several bowls at different places within a few days of each. So I've had pho from Orlando to Niagara Falls and from Texas to Virginia at more than 2 dozen different restaurants. My total pho bowl count for the past decade is probably somewhere around 400 and probably would have been higher if pricing over the years hadn't increased so drastically. I say all that to say: I'm no expert on authenticity, but I have definitely experienced a wide variety of pho. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Simply put, I loved everything about this beef pho! It was deeply satisfying to my taste buds and while their current yelp score may only be 3.8 stars, this pho is a 5 in my book!!!
