Lobster Roll Special and Clam Chowder
    Wes S.

We are traveling from Alabama, we came for clam chowder and were not disappointed! This was a hole-in-the-wall business, offering take home meals and a "soup of the day". I got the lobster roll special, cold lobster on a toasted bun and clam chowder. Delicious!

Corn and clam chowdahhhhh. Lasagna was gonnnne because it was that good! Didn't even make it home

    Clam chowder and fresh bread

If you're looking for a fancy shmancy place with linen table cloths, waiter service, and maybe some vino to go with your soup, keep driving. But, if you're willing to overlook the unpretentious exterior and a number of other things, you will find a pretty damn good place to find soup. Collins Brothers Chowder Co is humble little soup shop located not too far from downtown nashua. They offer something like 8-ish soups everyday plus some heat-and-serve meals (pot pie, pot roast, turkey dinner) and one soup for their daily special. Sure I've heard all of their soups are great, but this is flippin New England! My father and I stopped by with the intention of trying some New England clam chowder. We both envoyed our chowder. It was neither pasty nor overly salty. I appreciate how the clams were clearly the star of the soup unlike other places that add a lot of filler (i.e. potatoes). I know clam chowder is supposed to be subtle but I like chowders to have a little more peppers and herbs. Just my preference, though... Also, do spend the extra dollar for a small loaf of bread. I say this not just because I'm a little bit of a fresh bread junkie but also because it was perfect for sopping up that delicious soup. Collins Brothers is 100% takeout so be sure you understand this before stopping by. Its a cozy place without tables and chairs so you will be eating this at home or in your car. And if you are curious about their daily special, it is posted on their website. Tl;DR: Not 5-star soup but still worth stopping by. Grab the bread too.

    Clam chowder so good !

Great soup place. Love to go there in the fall and winter. It's a must eat place. Need cash to buy the soup, but it is worth it.

I am in a wheelchair and the staff must have seen us coming as ChrisAnn (unsure of spelling) greeted us and assisted us (husband and I) with the doors (which are not automatic) and, as we entered, stated that she already set us up at the first table, which I found to be above and beyond the typical service of any establishment. The menus were already at the table and a chair removed, to make space for my wheelchair. Both of us ordered the steak tips and eggs, which we both enjoyed, cooked exactly as ordered, and as tasty as one can expect. Husband had his with hash browns (?) [pan-fried potato chunks] & toast; mine with grilled English muffin and a side of baked beans. What I really like was the plating, such that none of the food items ran together, that is, the beans were in a small dish separate from the eggs and English and the steak was on a separate small plate, making it easier to cut (without bumping up against other foods). When our son was a young child, we referred to this as "no-touch-atarian" as he really disliked his foods touching one another. Now, some 30+ years later, I have to agree that some food items are just best as stand-alone items. I would have given a full 5 star rating except that I tend to be slightly more critical with my assessments as they relate to accessibility. The parking lot could use a repainting as the lines and handicapped parking symbols were barely visible. They have a ramp to the entrance but, without automatic doors, it can cause difficulties at the top as there is no level area at the top to allow one to stop and prevent the chair from rolling backwards to allow one to open the door. I have a care giver that gets me in and out, so it is not a huge barrier for me personally but I can see it being difficult for more independent wheelchair users. Access to the restroom is a bit awkward but not impossible And the staff helped with that as well.

But today's experience was sub par to what we are used to. I didn't leave the establishment because I was with others who wanted to enjoy the food. The first issue was we couldn't seat where we wanted, it had to be where the waitress or manager decided we were to seat. Not one client in the restaurant. Then she brought the bill before we requested no one was waiting to be seated, then refused to split the bill when previous times with a different server was not a problem. We split the bill to only 2 because thats all she could do, me paying for 4 people she denies my tip amount and says if I don't tip a 18% , theywill charge me $80 extra for a party of 6, again we were only 4 people. I am very disappointed with my service and treatment, unfortunately I don't know the server name but she is one that speaks more English. Will I go back and be bullied into tipping what they want? Probably no.
