The doppio pasta dish was to die for! Half beet half lemon ricotta hand filled pasta I could've had two orders they were so delicious!! Overall the ambience was low light and nice. Our waitress helped us all with what to order everything looked great. We also had a margarita pizza which of course was very good too. read more

We went there for Triangle restaurant week ( so this list is long overdue). The ambiance of the place is nice and classy. The location at Fenton is fantastic, and the staff was nice and friendly. But the food was a true disappointment ! Because we went in TRW, we were able to try different dishes and not one was good! The string clams were so dry and salty, the pizza was also dry but tasteless, the seafood soup was the best thing we had there but it wasn't memorable, and the steak was SO salty (my biggest disappointment) and the broccoli tasted like it was burned! Not grilled, burned with a torch or something! read more

We had dinner last weekend to honor my son's graduation from Duke. He completed his master's degree and it was a special occasion for our family visiting from Boston. It was fantastic! We were warmly welcomed and started off with a complimentary toast of "celebration bubbles". Since it was our first time at Colletta they described all of the menu choices and recommended favorites and shareable items. We tried their lasagna (15 layers and 3 days to prep), chicken parm with freshly prepared spaghetti, and a pizza. All of the entrees were fantastic and the service was excellent. We were presented with a celebration dessert, tiramisu with powdered chocolate spelling out "congratulations" AND a gift from the manager that matched the interests of the guest of honor. We could not have asked for more and want to thank Colletta for exceeding our expectations for this special occasion. read more

I loved Colletta so much the first time, I decided to invite a friend to go with me to enjoy it as well. I'd been super interested in the Chef's Pick Family Style Curated Menu. Again, reservations are a must. We were seated right away for my 5:30 reservation and Ash was our server. We ordered drinks and after a few minutes of making sure we were on the same page, we went with the Chef's pick. When you make that decision you have no idea what you'll get. Our first course came out shortly after. It was a large Caesar salad and a complimentary serving of their Meatballs. Everything was so pretty and fresh. The meatballs were love at first bite. They had the best texture, and so much flavor. And don't get me started on how amazing their scratch made marinara sauce is!! Literally my mouth is watering as I describe it. Our next course was one of their scratch made dough pizzas, the Regina Colletta...wow! The mixture of the cheeses, with the balsamic drizzle, so good. Then there's arugula and prosciutto, perfect! I wouldn't probably have ordered it on my own, but now...bring it on! It was time for the main course. They gave us 2 pastas. Their famous 15 layer lasagna and their shrimp spaghetti. I'm not usually a huge fan of lasagna, but this was so different and so delicious. All of the flavors mingled, and there was no flavor over powering the other. The spaghetti with shrimp Pasta was very tasty, but the noodles were a little too thick for me. The flavor was great. I always like to squeeze fresh lemon on my pasta when seafood is involved, and that added a layer of deliciousness. We were stuffed by the time dessert came, but didn't turn it down. Their Tiramisu was one I'd definitely order again. It didn't have the strong coffee flavor. Each layer was delicious and I absolutely loved every bite. They make this crumbly topping that really sets it off. The staff is awesome, the food is amazing and the ambiance is perfect. The Chef's Family Style option takes the dining experience to an entire different level and I highly recommend it if you're not a picky eater. So far, both of my visit to Colletta have been amazing. read more

Absolutely enjoyed my experience at Colletta! I heard mixed things about the quality and taste of the food, so I honestly thought about going somewhere else. But, I thought I would give it a try and wow! From the service to the food, everything was amazing. Our waitress encouraged us to check out a pizza as there were about 6-8 pieces per pie. My friend and I decided to order the Spicy Soppressata, which has San Marzano tomato DOP, mozzarella, basil, local honey. Oh my, this pizza was so cheesy and delicious with a hint of sweetness from the honey. It made all of my senses light up and get so happy! I loved that the cheese and toppings pulled and fell together and were super fresh! They make their pizzas and dough onsite, so it takes longer, but the taste is so worth it! In conclusion, Colletta is a must! I will come back for their pizza again because of the freshness and quality of the ingredients! Forget the negative reviews, come for the pizza and do not look back! read more

This place was on my list for so long and I was so excited to finally try it one night with my friends. But unfortunately, this is a restaurant where you go for a nice background in your photo rather than a delicious meal. I tried their version of carbonara and the noodles were sadly undercooked and very bland. The yolk served as no help. A few of my friends tried their other pastors, and nobody was impressed or satisfied. I sent back and replace of their pizza which saved my night I would come back for pizza and cocktails. read more

I made a reservation at Colletta to celebrate an occasion with my family and I'm so glad I did. We made an early reservation for 5:15pm -- I recommend doing the same if you want quick service. After 5:45-6pm, we noticed more people waiting longer periods for their food/etc. to arrive as the restaurant got busier. The service was incredible. We were immediately seated and greeted by our server, and given plenty of time to look over appetizers and menu items. Our server was fantastic -- she constantly checked on us, gave us a great appetizer recommendation, refilled drinks, and asked if we needed anything. Our food came out in a reasonable time frame - about 20 minutes - and was absolutely incredible. For an appetizer, we had the burrata. It was enough for 3 people, but if you have a larger party I would suggest ordering two or a larger appetizer. For my entree, I had the Bucatini with shrimp and ordered the tiramisu with an espresso for dessert. My Bucatini was perfect; it was very rich, garlicky, and well seasoned, and the shrimp was not over cooked. The tiramisu was different than most I've had, but still a good dessert choice. Highly recommend making a reservation here -- will hopefully come back soon to try more menu items. read more

CAUTION: CREDIT CARD FRAUD alert! Check your cc receipts to make sure your server doesn't add additional gratuity to your tab. Our party of 4 dined on a Sunday evening with a tab of $224.61 (I come with receipts!) and I graciously left a $53 cash tip on the table. The charge that cleared my bank was for $254.61. Mysteriously, an additional $30 had been added. The manager offered to refund me $30. Gee, thanks. I would seriously consider dining elsewhere, it simply is not worth the inflated pricing (e.g. $17 cosmo, $19 espresso martini, $32 chicken parm) let alone the exposure to cc fraud. Check those receipts! read more

Very very authentic Italian good eating in every way. It was a very different brunch. The menu was a bit limited. But we made it work. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The best grits I have ever tasted in a long time. Very light buttery and creamy. My son had the steak hash. He wanted to try something different. And the dish was lol. I had a mimosa with a lemon twist to it. My friends had pasta and pancakes. They make their pancakes with olive oil which I never had before. But when I tell you it changes your life it does! Thank me later. The ambiance was sooooo cute. They had booths and tables, the restaurant is a bit small. Our waiter JuJu was amazing. If you are in the Cary, NC area please visit. Oh and check out my pics as well!!! read more

An exquisite dining experience. Colletta is ideal for a date night, a celebration or to simply catch up with friends. Known for their pizza and pasta dishes, Colleta offers a collection of the best Italian dishes in The inside is sophisticated and well furnished with lots of beautiful lights. The staff is attentive and so caring! My friends and I ordered a handful of dishes and were not disappointed. We started off with some Broccolini and Local Mushrooms. Both were great starters, broccolini was my personal favorite. I also ordered the Chicken Parmesan and was amazed by how big the portion was. That being said, this dish would be perfect for sharing. The chicken was perfectly crisp and juicy, a perfect compliment to the flavorful sauce and noodles. My friend also tried their Lasagna Bolognese, which was another delicious dish. The ricotta paired well with the fresh basil. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something next level. read more

TLDR: Awesome employees. Good food. Expensive. Reservations highly recommended. Colletta is a small, romantic Italian restaurant in Fenton. I'd visit here again solely because of the employees. The hostesses and bartenders are incredibly attentive, helpful, and friendly. I did not plan well and did not have a dinner reservation. The restaurants in Fenton were packed. Colletta was full, but the friendly accommodating hostesses allowed me to place a to-go order and drink a glass of wine out front. They have ample seating outside, with fans to stay cool in the humid NC summer. This area is understandably empty in the winter. It was chilly but the wine kept me warm. I sipped on an okay red blend (fidelity crazy creek) while I waited. The hostess brought out my check and food. The order was accurate, packed well, and pricy. I chose the butternut squash risotto, Regina Colletta pizza, and chicken Caesar salad. The food was good quality, but lacked adequate presentation. For the price I had expected more ingredients on the pizza as opposed to mainly crust. The butternut squash looked like a mess. I was weary at first, don't let the appearance deter you. It has great flavor and is filling. Caesar salad was the bare minimum with fresh ingredients. The menus are available in print form and online. Dine in or place a to-go order at the hostess stand. Parking at Fenton is convenient since they have several nearby free parking lots. The walk is short, however, there are streets through Fenton to use for drop off. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would dine here again for a special occasion. read more

As a foodie, I was dying to try Colletta. Everyone heard of the new italian place in Fenton with the quickly sold out lasagna and nice ambience. So we went twice and tried a good amount of dishes from their menu. Service-wise, this place was okay. We made reservations but still had to wait an extra 20 minutes on top of that. The hostess wasn't the warmest, and took forever to set our table up when it finally cleared. We ended up just walking over to it before she set it up. You can tell that they are still getting the hang of things. Our actual server made up for any issues we had before we were sat though. She was so sweet, helpful, and quick to come check on us and make sure everything was to our liking. Her name was Eden, definitely request her if you can. For appetizers, we tried the wood fired shrimp and the margherita pizza. The pizza was great and crispy. The shrimp with the buttered toast was good, and the garlic butter it sat in was delicious. The only problem was that we didn't get this dish until right before our dessert, after we had all our entrees and other appetizer. The complimentary bread was good and our bottle of wine was amazing. For main dishes we tried the branzino, chicken parmesan, radiatori, and the famous lasagna. The lasagna actually sold out by 7 the first time I went but was there the second time, so note this if you want to try it. They only have a limited amount available every day. The lasagna had many layers and it was a very big piece (as it should be, for $32.) I think this was the best entree out of everything. The radiatori is good but lacks a lot of flavor. It almost tasted like a dressed up can of pasta. It has a good amount of meat and a low amount of seasoning. This dish could be amazing with some improvements. The ricotta dollop on top was very needed. The branzino was delicious, I wish it came with rice or mashed potatoes instead of a garden salad with too crispy croutons. Whole fish and salad don't even go together. I would get the branzino again, but with the garlic butter from the shrimp on it. My friends agreed that the chicken in the chicken parm was cooked to perfection. It was a very nice comfort meal to have. Lasagna was definitely the best dish, and if you don't eat pork like me all the dishes I named don't have pork. I was happy about this because many restaurants put pork in their bolognese sauce. There is also another dish that is a short rib ravioli with just beef. For dessert, we tried the spumoni semifredo alaska. This dessert is OUTSTANDING. It is pistachio and cherry gelato with a marshmallow cover. If you love a good show, they come to the table and torch the whole outside when they bring it to you. This was absolutely divine and I got it both days I came. Overall, this place has a nice dim atmosphere and is a unique restaurant in Cary. However, it is very much overpriced. I would only come back if it was for a special occasion. read more

First time visiting and I'm definitely coming back for the pizza, carrots, and the spumoni. The flavors in all three of those were amazing. The spumoni is extremely sweet, so if you're not a fan of super sweet, maybe choose another option. The tiramisu was different than I would expect from a traditional version, but it was okay. And the pasta dish that we ordered was "meh". In comparison to everything else, there wasn't much flavor which was disappointing based on the description. The waitress was very kind and offered to bring something else out since we weren't a fan of the pasta dish. We didn't take her up on the offer but I appreciated the gesture. Overall, it's a great spot for date night or for taking guests. Considering a birthday dinner here read more

This is a generous number for stars, and I had to wait a while to write my review because I was so offended by the whole experience. Overall I kept getting disappointed as the meal continued. When we arrived at 4:30 and asked for a table for 5. The hostess said she would seat us if we could be out in a hour!!! We agreed but were confused as none of us had ever been told that before...and it seems just a little rude or that she was doing us some huge favor... Once seated our server told us that it was close enough to 5PM to be able to order on the right side (entrees) of the menu, but that it could take a little longer. My husband ordered a drink, server came back and apologized saying they had run out of it. No problem. That can happen. Then he ordered the fish and again our server came back and said that kitchen was a little behind a d wouldn't be able to do the fish. So he ordered the lasagna, and again the server came back and said due to the kitchen being behind they wouldn't do the lasagna either. My husband said, "so basically we actually can't order from the right side of the menu."The server said, "no" and apologized yet again. All in all it took 15 mins just get our order in with all the back and forth. Once the food arrived our server was coming in every 10 mins to "check on us" and was cleaning up plates before everyone was done and grabbing plates before asking if we had even finished. She brought us the check without being asked, I guess to ensure we would meet our 1 hour limit. The food was average at best and way, and I'm mean WAY overpriced for what we got. No Manager came by even though our server knew we were feeling frustrated. And it would be at this point that a manager should have come to check on us, even if she was unaware of our experience- it's just good practice to check on your guests. Our server was apologetic, which is something, but it was such a poor experience and I was so frustrated and felt bad for my family visiting us from out of town for the holidays. read more

Upon entering, everyone acknowledged us with a smile and a welcoming and professional attitude. I enjoyed this Italian family-style restaurant with a touch of high-end from the service aspect. I loved the decor from outside to inside with a cozy flare. I had the Italian salad and the Agnolotti braised short rib, and ricotta. I also tried calamari, that the individual I was with ordered. I'm not a huge fan of calamari, but this one was delicious and perfectly seasoned. All of the food is delicious, and the service here is great. The waitress did a good job keeping our table clear. The music Colleta played was very nice. On this visit mostly oldies r&b is what I heard. Really nice vibe here. The pasta portion could be more or give the option for full vs half. The Agnolotti barely covered the bottom of the plate. I get it short rib is like a steak but giving more pasta or a side with this would be a good call. I would have been hungry after had I not tried appetizers. My only issue is that the lighting was too dim for my liking. I prefer to see my food clearly. The tables could be larger. They missed the mark with the seating with only a few large booths making it the last place I'd recommend for large parties. I would suggest larger tables, so one doesn't have to pull chairs up to a booth. read more

I loved Colleta! For starters, their customer service is amazing. I called about my reservation a few days on advance requesting a certain table and they happily made it happen. They provided a sweet gift to the birthday boy we were celebrating, and we were checked in on by several different staff members throughout the night. It is restaurant week so of course we opted for the 3 course meal and the pizza, pasta, and chicken parm were amazing! Amazing flavor, amazing texture. The vibe of the place was really cool as well, lively crowd, saxophone/jazz music. Loved it all. The only downside I would say is it is a bit on the pricey side for the cocktails. read more

The food was absolutely incredible too!!! The drinks were also spectacular. The restaurant itself is beautiful and perfect for a date night. We can't say enough good things! I don't think I've had real pasta, until I ate here. WOW, what a difference than any other Italian restaurant I've ever been too. The freshness of the pasta and the olive oil, was 10/10. We had dietary restrictions at our table (no alcohol and no pork products) and the waiter went above and beyond to make sure there was no cross contamination or hidden ingredients the food . This at one point involved a conversation with the chef and he was happy to do that. Fantastic pasta, ambience and amazing staff. Colletta was delicious! I got the lasagna and my boyfriend got the margherita pizza and let's just say we were eating each other's food in addition to our own! The lasagna was so tasty and rich and the pizza was just as delicious. My boyfriend ordered a beer and I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail with cucumber and mint upon our waitress's recommendation. I ended up not really liking it, but our waitress was very accommodating and switched it out for a passionfruit mocktail which was so much better! The restaurant is very open and you can see right into the kitchen which is super cool considering the pizza oven is huge! We were seated right by the windows so we were able to people watch a bit. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was great, the vibe of the restaurant was easygoing and relaxing, and the pricing was fairly reasonable and not outrageously expensive. We did book a table about a week in advance since they are usually booked and we are so glad we did. I would definitely visit this restaurant again soon! read more

Ate there with my wife on Friday December 13, 2024. We have eaten there before and the food was great. This time it was bad. I had ravioli and there wasn't enough to cover the bottom of the dish. My wife had chicken parm. Chicken was tough and the noodles weren't cooked well. They were hard. The service wasn't bad but that's definitely the only thing that wasn't bad. Definitely won't be back. Very disappointing. Drove 240 miles and couldn't wait to eat there. Only to be very disappointed. I'm pleased to announce that I reached out to the restaurant and spoke to the manager and they are gonna make my negative experience a positive. Therefore my 1 star review is now a 5 star. Part of the world of restaurants, is the ability to take the bad with the good. In this case, I'm very happy and look forward to coming back. read more

Food 3/5 overall. The calamari was pure breading (could barely find the pieces with meat) and the caesar salad arrived to the table wilted already. I got the pizza which was good. Service was good 4/5 Interior was nice but there were quite a few flies inside to the point we were shooing them away from our food throughout the meal (seated inside). 3/5 Overall I'd given the place a 3/5 total until I got my to go order I placed at the end of the meal. The $20+ chicken and waffles was 1) placed in all the sauces while ordered to go so was already soggy and 2) $20+ for ONE PIECE of fried chicken thigh and HALF of one waffle....wish I was joking. That took off a whole point for me. If a friend wanted to go here I wouldn't say oh no don't but if I'm choosing for myself I'd definitely opt out of this spot. read more

Have you been to Colletta Cary at Fenton? The location and ambiance is awesome! They made us wait to be seated for over 45 minutes while tables remained empty. My cocktail Rosemary's Bambino was good. The pesto pizza, although flavorful, the crust was burnt crisp. The pappardelle was also very bland. The server warned us that food takes a long time to come out and she wasn't kidding! She also didn't bring us plates so we can share the food. with that, we decided to skip dessert. The food were very pricey. I understand that they are still newish but I hope others have a better experience. In fairness, I will still go back for a second opinion. read more

This was a real disappointment! We expected very flavorful food with a real Italian twist. However, at every turn the food, and the cocktails, were lacking. The veal was dry due to over cooking and had little flavor. The Caesar salad seemed like they were conserving dressing. The clam strips were nice and crispy but with little flavor. The cocktails, while thin at first, on the second try they added alcohol, but the mixology was a miss. The lasagna, which I was resting my hat on based on favorable reviews I had seen online, was just so-so. The manager did stop by to ask if there was anything they could do which was appreciated. This review really pains me to write 'cause I had been wanting to come here for months. What a disappointing birthday dinner! Uggh!! read more

I was craving pizza and decided to check out Colletta. The pizza was alright, but I was expecting a larger size since the menu suggested it was for sharing. It turned out to be just a bit bigger than a personal pie. Also, a heads-up for those with food allergies: cross-contamination might be an issue. My friend has a dairy allergy, which I mentioned to both the waitress and manager. They assured us they could make the pizza half with cheese and half without. Unfortunately, when the pizza arrived, the cheeseless side had bits of cheese, and some slices even had large portions of cheese. We could see the kitchen, and it looked like the chef was too busy chatting to pay proper attention to our order. I don't think I'll be going back and would not recommend. read more

Not worth the hype. I will start with the pros: Nice ambience, great vibe for a date night, and in a great location. Our server was great. They're Buratta was delicious. Their lasagna is something special ( could use more sauce) Now on to the cons : Calamari was very chewy, not fresh at all. We arrived at 6:45pm our food arrived at 7:55. Appetizer arrived at 7:40. They're pink sangria was a joke. I asked for a margarita with casamigos tequila , and they charged me $22 dollars!! And they gave me a small amount. We went to the movies next door, got a casamigos margarita for $15 bucks, and it was good. Chicken parm was dry, over cooked chicken with dry spaghetti that did not taste "homemade" . We spent almost $200 without dessert. They're better places in Triangle with authentic Italian food for wayyyy less. Back to Daniel's in Apex! read more
