#1 Best Espresso in Cincy. Must Try! If you're from out of town or live in Cincy and havn't gone yet then this needs to be one of your first stops if you just want an espresso based beverage. I have other coffee shops where I love their drip coffee and I have my favorite coffee shop to go and get work done and just relax. I'll review them later, but if you want the best tasting espresso beverage then this is your place. Athmosphere: Simple. I don't know how really to explain it. Couple seats at a bar and two little high top tables up front. I like it and if I just have computer work to get done and don't need to be on the phone making any calls then I'll chill for an hour and drink my beverage and get some work done. But, in the summer time I enjoy their hidden little outside area and will relax a little longer and "force" people to meet me here for meetings. lol Pros: Any and all Espresso Drinks. They use legit bottle milk from up north ohio. Cons: None, keep killing it Collective! Must Try Items: My go to is their Cortado. Their Capp is solid and their Latte is great as well (But, I mean if you're the type that needs that much milk then do you truly enjoy drinking espresso or do you like drinking milk.) Cincinnati finally gets a coffee shop worth visiting! The staff are very knowledgeable and operate their brewing equipment with expertise. The simple interior is very inviting, the counter tops made of reclaimed barn wood. Very nice. Collective Espresso selects its coffee in a way I haven't seen before. Instead of carrying beans exclusively from a single roastery, they rotate out beans from roasteries all over the country. I've never been exposed to so many new roasteries before this shop opened! The only two improvements I see they could make--and I'm picking nits here--is more comfortable seating and longer store hours. Other than that, this place is my new home away from home. read more

This is the best coffee shop in Cincinnati. It could really be left there, but that wouldn't be any help to those who take a bit more convincing. When you walk in the shop, it immediately becomes obvious that these guys know what they're doing. The design is clean and simple; they have a Strada (!!!), top-tier grinders, and the requisite Hario/Chemex setup. Basically, this is the type of artisanal/third wave coffee shop that only a couple of years ago one exclusively found in the likes of Portland, San Fran, or New York. Long the wait has been, but what a joy it is to have our own great coffee shop. Milk is sourced locally -- from the always great Snowville Creamery, and the beans come from Deeper Roots & Quills plus a number of first rate national roasters. The pour overs are killer and the espresso shots are great, but the milk could frequently stand to be a bit cooler (that's only if you're getting truly nit-picky, though). All this, and the people working there couldn't be more friendly and inviting. Collective Espresso is doing it right. read more

I had an Ethiopian pour over that was well worth the wait and a lemon poppy seed scone that was excellent. Seating at the bar or a few tables in the front of the space. I wasn't sure if Cincinnati was ready for this specific coffee culture, because although the coffee scene in this city is much more impressive than I had imagined, Collective Espresso kind of takes it to a whole 'nother level. All coffee is made-to-order, commonly using either the Hario or Chemex brewing methods. This is not your standard grab-and-go, so I do think it's a little ironic that they don't have a whole lot of seating. With that in mind, I think what Collective is trying to achieve is that intimate, "enjoy your coffee like you're supposed to" vibe with their bar-and-stool table tops. These guys are super knowledgable about their coffee, so ask them what's available for the day, and the story behind the source of their beans, brewing methods, or their innovative urge to bring Collective to Cincinnati. Yes, they have lattes and teas for everyone else. A few pastries. Expect a standard cup of black coffee to be fresh, pure, with a lack of bitterness, and no less than $3.00. Hidden down the block from the rest of OTR sits this espresso shop. I say espresso rather than coffee simply because they hold a stronger espresso menu. Lattes, macchiatos, cortados, as well as pour over coffee and drip is on the menu. It's an adorable space, but doesn't actually HAVE a lot of space inside. They have 2 sides of the bar that you can sit, with two little tables to snag, if you're lucky. My soy latte was wonderful, and my friend's cortado was delicious as well! However, the espresso is so strong it did leave us both pretty jittery, so stay hydrated! They stick to the craft of espresso, with no crazy flavors (sorry, vanilla white-mocha latte classic "white girl"). If you're wanting a solid latte, stop on in! read more

I don't know how this place isn't more busy! Pretty sure they have the best espresso I've ever had! Plus it comes with a side of sparkling water to help cut the taste if you need, but I find their espresso so smooth and tasty it's not even necessary. I will start by confirming what all the other reviews say - best coffee hands down in Cincinnati. I am not a snobby coffee drinker but their coffee is the best. They have a relatively simple menu (you will not find a Raspberry flavored mocha cappuccino with whipped cream on top here). But their drip coffee, espresso, and latte (the 3 things I have had) are amazing. As a side note, my fiance is not a big coffee drinker but when she had the first sip of her latte with soy milk her eyes lit up and she said this is amazing. Parking is not that easy (especially since it's on a little side street). Definitely worth checking out once and then coming back many times again. read more

Even though I bastardized their coffee by asking for chocolate in it, you could still tell that the coffee was delicious and clearly made by skilled craftsmen. I honestly was not blown away by this place. For starters, it's quite small. There's only about 10 chairs inside (4 on either side of a bar type area and a table for 2 in a corner), and about as many outside. The coffee selection is also quite limited, particularly compared to Coffee Emporium and 1215 Wine Bar and Coffee Lab. The only real plus is faster Wifi than either of those other locations. Unless you've got serious computer work to do, do yourself a favor and go to one of those other two locations in OTR. read more

I've been to many "third wave" coffee establishments throughout the United States, including Blue Bottle, Intelligentsia, etc. Cincinnati is joining the bandwagon and Collective Espresso does it well. Stopped in on a Sunday morning. The shop is very small and simple - which can be a good thing. I ordered two lattes. They had simple syrup available on the counter to sweeten your drinks - a nice touch. It's very bare bones - no vanilla flavor shots here. The baristas were nice and they had a few pastries out, including some great chocolate chip cookies with sea salt. It won't become my go-to but it was a quick fix and very quick at that! read more

Rip-Off Alert!!! Dishonest. I stopped at their mobile food truck for espresso, in front of the Westin hotel on the morning of April 27th 2017. It was poor quality espresso that tasted really acrid and bitter; not the slightest flavor of coffee.
