Took my wedding gown to this recommended tailor to have it altered. I was warned about Davids Bridal, where I purchased this gown, that they would charge exorbitant rates, so i tried to find another tailor. I was told by this tailor and his wife that yes they could absolutely do what I wanted done to the gown (high/low look), and a couple minor adjustments, to the tune of 334.00$. I agreed thinking Davids would have been more, and was considering myself lucky to have found the right shop. I couldn't have been more wrong. I was called back to the shop three weeks later, (32 days before my wedding), to be told that aaaaa no, they couldn't actually do what they said they could. It's too labor intensive. I panicked at this point with my wedding so close, and called Davids bridal to beg their forgiveness and fix my dress in time. They agreed to my immense relief and are altering my dress as I write this. Turns out Collana's tailor cut far to much of the tulle off the underskirt of my dress, and really messed it up. I was shown the problems they created by the seamstresses at Davids and was told to demand my money back. Thank god they can fix it enough to be wearable. I have a unique college hat that Joe started for me a long time ago. It has the college emblem of my son and his wife and now has reached my grandkids six additional schools with a seventh to be added this fall. Joe has done a great job and always interesting to talk to. read more

Collana's Tailor Shop was a life savor. I recently had my sisters wedding where I was a bridesmaids. I had my dress originally tailored by another local tailor where instead of taking it OUT 3 inches they took it IN 3 inches. So as I try it on the night before the wedding it did not fit at all. I was in a complete panic. The next morning I showed up to Collana's bright and early and told the man my situation. He told me he wasn't sure if he could fix it but he would try. After about an hour I get call that my dress was ready and as I try it on 2 hours before the wedding it fit perfectly. This man was a life savor and I truly do appreciate what he did for me! Joe is not a good tailor at all. I went there with my kids and when we first walked in he was jokingly threatening to strike us as we walked in. Then as we begin talking about the dress we want altered he kept hugging my 8yr old daughter. At first I thought maybe he was just being friendly but he kept doing it. My daughter felt very uncomfortable and I will never recommend him to anyone. He even joked with me and touched me. I think he's very inappropriate and should learn to keeps his hands to himself. I don't care how friendly you wanna be you shouldn't touch anyone. That's assult and he could be arrested. read more

Let me tell you a little about my experience with this Tailor Shop. I was getting married in June of this year, asked around and got a lot of good reviews about this shop and Joe the owner- I actually had 2 wedding dresses that needed alterations, one that I was wearing at the wedding and reception and one that I wanted to wear to dinner that night that would be shortened to knee length. I took them there, he said that it would be no problem I asked him how much for the alterations and he told me it would be expensive , due to the amount of work it would be to shorten me actual wedding dress due to the ruffles and layers that were on the bottom, but he told me it would be a couple hundred dollars, we left $100 deposit with him. I didn't hear from him for a couple months so I called 1 month before the wedding he said to call him back in 1 week, called him back no answer (during regular business hours) . Called a few days later he told me a few more days , (which lands it 6 days before my wedding for the final fitting and bustle to be done) **Pretty nervous there** . I got there and he figured it all out with the bustle and I had asked if he could press both of the dresses and he said that was no problem. I asked for a total so I had the money when I came back he told me it would be $480!!!! on top of the $100 I had already given him!!! That is outrageous! My mother paid $60 at a shop down the road and she needed more alterations done then me on the simple dress that I wanted shortened to the knees! ok- so if you take that off the price, $520 for the wedding dress to get shortened and taken in 1/2 inch in the arm pits?! I called around and they said AT MOST people pay $300. I have never heard of something more expensive, especially after he told me that it was going to be A COUPLE HUNDRED. A couple means 2, maybe 3 tops. $580 is ridiculous. I was in shock. I left there and spoke with some others and was even more upset when I went to pick up the dress. I told him the situation with calling others and was a little upset when I talked to him. He actually said to me--- "Do you think you could walk into a mortgage office and start crying and they will lower your mortgage" !!! Extremely rude and inappropriate and EXPENSIVE! . Joe has helped me out so many times I signed up for this site just to post this review. I'm constantly coming in with urgent alterations when I can't get a suit hemmed at the place I buy it from or when I have an important meeting coming up. He always accommodates what I need and when I need it by. And the finished product is always solid. You really can't ask for more in tailor. Go to Joe - he'll take care of you. Joe did an amazing job with my wedding dress alterations. He was able to take the dress from a size 16 to a size 6 or 8 in a matter of days. I only went for two fittings and the dress fit me perfectly. His skill is truly remarkable. I felt beautiful in my dress on my wedding day because of Joe's exquisite work! Never ,ever use this tailor!! I had two gowns to be altered. Joe said it would be done by the end of February. I brought in the two gowns around the 10th or 12th of Feb. I was going to decide which gown to wear to the wedding based on which turned out the best. Beginning of March came and he still did not finish. He originally told me that they would be done before he had to go to HIS daughter's wedding in early March. Mind you, I had a wedding to attend March 24th and I told him that the first time I came in with the gowns and he said that there was plenty of time! I had to call him to find out how things were going with the gowns. Finally, the 2nd week of March, I got to try on my gowns. One of the two wasn't even shortened as it was noted at the first fitting!!!! The other gown still did not fit right. I decided on the gown that needed to be shortened for the wedding. So here it is almost time for us to drive to Florida for the wedding and no gown in my possession. several days later I go to FINALLY get my gowns. The gown that needed to be shortened was shortened. Joe then gave me the actual material he cut off!!! Why not the first so called shortening did he give me material????? I was charged $170.00 total for the work on both gowns. I wanted to take the gown that I wasn't wearing to the wedding and sell it BUT Joe was insistent on doing it right. I never should have assumed that he was doing this to keep his reputation in a good standing. He charged another $60.00 and when I tried in on, THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ALTERATION!!! It fit the same. I won't even get into the fact that my husband left his dress shoes there when he was having to try on his altered suit. He called but had to leave a message. We never got a call back and Joe later on, denied even getting a message....on his business phone!!! We had to buy new shoes on our way to FL.
