I'm assuming this was the towing company AAA sent to help me. It was Thursday night before Memorial Day. I had been driving for 3 hours already, from San Francisco, when I blew out a tire (front left, driver's side). I was on Hwy 49 just south of Grass Valley, where the highway is a single lane in each direction and barely any shoulder. Definitely not a safe location to change the tire myself, plus it was 5:30 PM - rush hour - with a steady stream of cars whizzing by. Anyway, the dispatcher (in Miami) was concerned for my safety and was very thorough, calling me back several times to makes sure she had all the details correct. The AAA truck arrived in about 20 minutes. The driver/mechanic put my spare on and I was on the road again by 6 PM. He suggested that I try nearby Les Schwab to get a new tire, since i was heading onto unpaved roads camping in the Sierra (unsuitable for my dinky spare tire). I was in luck - Ken at Les Schwab was still there at 6:07 (even though they close at 6 PM) and kindly sold to me and fitted a new tire. It was such a great price, and great service, I went back to Les Schwab (in Rocklin) two days later and got three more tires to match! I am especially grateful to AAA for keeping me safe, for their prompt service, and for the excellent referral to another local business. HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY!! Too many other tow companies that you can contact!! If I could give ZERO stars, I would!! My son's car battery died overnight and he called AAA, whom sent this Tow Company out to service his vehicle. The guy, Sam, had NO TOOLS to take the nuts off of the battery cover and proceeded to pull the cover off, breaking the piece where the cover was held down by said nut. WHAT TOW TRUCK DOESN'T CARRY A SIMPLE TOOL KIT??!!!! Besides not being professional, he was rude about it!!! I have NEVER had a bad experience with any tow company before today!! Unacceptable!! Also, I called the phone number on the side of the truck, spoke with the dispatcher asking her to have the manager call me back regarding this incident....I have yet to hear from him! read more

Had a really positive experience with Colfax Tow. My car broke down in Tahoe City and I needed a tow to Folsom. It was a snowy day and unfortunately they weren't able to get to my job because of the weather but the next day they showed up. Cody was my driver, he was super chill, shook my hand, and gave me the confidence that my car was going to make it down the hill safely. He even texted me a picture of where he parked my car at the dealer. I hope to never have to use this tow service again but if I do I'm calling these guys. read more

I put in my tow request at 2:30 pm. My car didn't get picked up until 9 pm. It's a long distance tow, so I get that I am not priority #1. At 1 am, my car was still not in my driveway.Triple A dispatch was able to get the driver on the phone around 2 am, he said he was an hour and a half away. Triple A assured me he would call me when he got in the area. 2 and a half hours later, still no car. Dispatch called the driver, who said he was nearby. We went outside to wait for him and he never showed up. An hour later, still no car. I called Triple A, and they said my car had been delivered. At this point, they couldn't get the driver on the phone, it was 5 am, and I had to file a police report because Triple A had no idea where my car was. A few hours later I took a walk around the neighborhood and found my car down the street at someone else's house. The tow truck driver left my car, didn't even bother to contact me (even though he was made aware by Triple A that I was waiting up for him to arrive) and put my car keys inside of someone else's mailbox. I just made this Yelp account simply to give a review. At first I didn't believe the guy's name but the driver who came out to help me was John Smith. This guy went over and beyond his job to make sure that my family was in the safest of hands and he treated my vehicle as if it was his own. I truly hope I will meet this guy again. We've dealt with this company before on negative occasions with negative results. But this driver was different he was sweet and genuine, thank you John! read more

The young tow truck driver didn't know where tools were for a tire change, and instead of helping us with the flat, he was rude and cocky telling us to look in the manual for where its located, which I did, but we still didn't understand where they were. We have a truck, there are only a couple places they could have been. He had to tow us instead of change tire. it was raining so possibly thats why he didn't want to help. You would think a tow truck driver would have simple knowledge of where tools would be kept. We called dealer after incident and they told us where tools were, (we've never had to use the tools before). My husband is police officer in a local area here and this was horrible costumer service. Will not recommend this place to anyone. Thank goodness we had AAA plus so he drove us where we wanted to go get tire fixed. read more

I had a two day crisis in which this company's drivers treated me nothing less like family. First night when my car broke down on the side of the freeway, raining with my two daughters under 5 years old, my husband racing from Reno to come and get me. As you can imagine I'm a crying mess when the driver comes and finally my husband comes, mind you it's about 12 midnight, the tow driver offers to go outside and check out what could be wrong with it before towing it to a tire shop that may have been able to help me. Came back the second day because they couldn't tow it over the state lines nor could that shop work on my type of car, and now we can't get my dead car on the dolly. My husband calls with little hope they can help and explains how we just got towed the day before, they sent out a younger guy who used the tow truck to put my car on our U-Haul dolly which all in all took about 2 hours. I couldn't believe how nice both of the drivers were they really sincerely cared about our well being instead of just dumping us off somewhere! Our truck broke down on I80 near the CA20 interchange. AAA sent Sierra Towing, and they went above and beyond the call of duty. There were several complications (not their fault) and it ultimately took 3 trucks to get us hooked up and towed to Sacramento. They were professional and cheerful throughout the process, gave plenty of helpful suggestions and were a pleasure to work with in a potentially challenging situation. We had a tire that was blowing out on highway 80, we pulled off the exit to Colfax, it was Friday evening. Within 5 minutes the guy (I did not get his name) showed up. He opened his shop and got us a new tire and got us back on the road. He was very kind to my kids and went the extra mile getting us a new spare.He was awesome, very kind and worked to get us back on the road fast. I would highly recommend this company! read more

I am praying this is the towing company AAA sent when we toasted our brakes coming down I-80 over Labor Day. I know the tow driver's name was Rick, and he said he was from Sierra Towing in Colfax, however I cannot find a "Sierra Towing" that handles AAA calls. We had driven across the country moving to California. My husband was driving our 4X4 pickup, however he was not used to driving steep mountain downgrades, and he was following me. What he did was literally ride the brakes all the way from Truckee to Gold Run. Needless to say, the brakes were smoking. We pulled off at the west bound Gold Run rest stop to let them cool, however after an hour, we discovered there was no braking action at all. We called AAA, and Rick answered our call. He was told by dispatch he was not allowed to go out of his district due the extreme high traffic demand of Labor Day (three-day weekend, no less)! Steve arranged to tow our truck to his tow garage in Colfax, and said he would tow it down to our actual destination (Suisun City) on Tuesday. Rick watched our truck and all the belongings in it, towed it to my daughter's house, and was such a lifesaver! We cannot thank him (and AAA) enough! If by chance, this company is not the correct tow company, am asking the manager/owner if they could please forward to the correct person/company? read more

I have never had to deal with such a horrible company before! I'm a AAA plus member with no previous calls.. last night I had the displeasure of this tow company getting assigned to assist with a disabled vehicle. I needed to go from colfax to Carmichael. Everything was going fine until a very rude (doesn't care about customer service) tow truck driver come up. The first words out of his mouth were "we can't tow you tonight, and won't be able to until Tuesday (it was Saturday night). I assumed caltrans was stopping them for some reason but he stated that caltrans has nothing to do with it. I asked why because my membership was in tact and if there's nobody stopping them.. why can't I go home that night with my car. I replied "it's just not gonna happen, it's impossible, I have 5 other calls that I need to get over with" and left me with no choice but to be at his mercy and schedule a tow for tuesday. During the "paperwork" .. and i mean paperwork lightly because he handed me a blank form to sign with nothing written on it, he began to say "I'm surprised your car isn't impounded right now" and "you expect me to drag your car on and off the truck?" and after that unpleasant encounter, left us to figure it out with no assistance. I called AAA and they were shocked to hear about this. And a complaint was filed. A friend came and picked me up that night. The next day I get a call from this joke of a place, saying that there was gonna be over mileage and I would need to pay 400 dollars if I want it towed, I called AAA and they said I have 100 free miles per my membership with them. The distance is from colfax to Carmichael remind you.. well under 100 miles. As of right now, my car is still in colfax and this tow company is still playing their games. If you ever need to have a car towed, I hope to God that you don't get this company! read more
