This store desperately needs a manager that can actually manage. Employees lack a sense of urgency and have poor time management, communication, and retention skills. The store is consistently slow and always behind because of poor management. The reason I'm writing this review: I spent 35 minutes waiting, only to find out the order I came to pick up hadn't even been started. Multiple employees asked for the pickup name--more than once--and after I gave it, there was no response, no communication, not even a simple "we're working on it." This was a mobile order, which should have given the store extra time to prepare before I even arrived. During those 35 minutes, I watched multiple waves of customers and DoorDash drivers come and go while I still hadn't received anything. After that long, I wasn't going to stick around. When I first arrived, there was only one customer and a small group who had already been served. There's no reason a simple order--a small cup of vanilla ice cream--should take 35 minutes. This isn't a one-time issue. It's the worst it's been, but delays are common. The employees still get paid hourly, but delays like this directly affect drivers' earnings. Waiting 20-35 minutes is not okay. Also, the paper ticket system clearly isn't working--orders get lost, handwriting can be unclear, and there's no consistency. Don't apologize--just do better. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. This is my second time coming into this establishment; won't speak about the first experience but it was soo bad that one of the youth asked me not to report them--left with no ice cream!! But on today, I went in, no greeting--asked for my ice cream and was argued down about what I wanted, then my boyfriend ordered. The young girl rolled her eyes, slammed stuff around and when I said thank you for my ice cream, she didn't say anything. Okay, cool. When it was time to pay, the young guy leaned his hand over the machine and just waited--didn't say the total or anything. He eventually said, "cash or card". For almost 20.00, our money could've been spent elsewhere for a better experience with nice people. I told myself almost 2 weeks ago, I would not come back but I wanted to try it again. I am so upset and frustrated bc I have worked in customer service for years--there was nobody in there, not busy, poor attitude, poor customer service. My go to ice cream spot! I love cold stone because of their variety of flavors and toppings. The store is a little small, especially when there are a lot of people waiting plus there's not a lot of seating. During the spring/summer, they do put a table and a couple chairs outside though. The employees are always kind and they have catchy tunes when making the magic happen! The manager is very kind to all and you can see that reflects onto the employees in the store. The pricing can seem a little on the expensive side, especially once you start adding all the goodies in, but it's better than regular ol' vanilla ice cream & sprinkles. My daughter had a gift card to spend here and so we decided to come to the town center location so that we could walk around as well. From the moment we walked in I was thrilled. Such a clean and well-lit establishment. The gentlemen helping us seemed to be the owner possibly, I should have asked. However he was SO kind. From start to finish. I was so pleased with the customer service received here. Along with it being so clean, the variety of ice cream to choose from was large and the best part about it, they were all stocked and available. I go to this location quite often as it is the closest goldstone to where I live. Ive had a not so good experience with the manager as she was very slim on when I specified I wanted extra caramel, but I recently visited this past weekend. It was super busy I went around 5PM on a hot summer day. Even though it was busy that day, Kimon went above and beyond. He is an amazing employee and made my order perfectly. I got the Founders favorite but asked for him to put it in a larger cup so that my caramel would not spill over. My aunt also got a new order, she got the Brookie and she stated that it was alright. I think with that order you need to add either caramel or fudge to it. I noticed that they had new flavors/signature flavor. Next time I go I want to try the Mighty Pink Puff. I'm not sure how long these flavors will be here. They have flavors for Mario Party, Animal Crossing and Kirby right now. They even have different cups for them too. read more

It's been a really long time since I ventured in a Cold Stone Creamery. This is the first time that I recall hitting up the area's only location in Town Center Virginia Beach. The store is directly across from Brook Bros. on the main drag. Parking is either by street, or parking garage beside the establishment. The good news is parking in the garage is FREE. A nice wide sidewalk leads up to the front entrance. A couple of small tables are positioned directly in front of the store for enjoying your ice cold treats. Upon entering my family was greeted by a couple of young high school age boys smiling. The place is much smaller than I expected with just a few tables inside. A few customers were in the process of ordering. The long counter that the employees work behind is where all the action is, so let the kids up front. The staff began singing little catchy tunes that were quite amusing. I don't recall this being a part of the chains schtick. I found the dining room to be tidy and also used the facilities and also found them to be in order. We looked over the menu and decided on waffle bowls which seemed somewhat pricey to me. But hey, this was a special treat for the kids and I did not mind the splurge. The boy that waited on us was very nice and patient with the kids as they decided on what ice cream and fixings.to order. Cold Stone is known for it's huge selection of toppings, so it could take the little ones some time to choose. It ended up being mint chocolate chip for both kids with several toppings. The fun has just begun. So with the ice cream and topping you choose it's moved over to the ice cold marble top to create a pocket that the toppings are mixed in. The kids will enjoy watching the action and there is a clear view for them to do so. Beware, more impromptu singing could take place at anytime as it did for us. We enjoyed our treats inside and the kids loved a different type of experience than say a DQ. I found the ice cream to be good, but not the best I have had in my life. With the options to choose from on toppings and the process of mixing them, it's about Cold Stone Creamery's experience. I think you will like it, I know our family did and will be back. read more

Small, pricey but consistent. With the location and ice cream made right here, the prices aren't cheap and only increases with time. Cold Stone is consistently delicious though. This place is pretty small with few tables indoors, and if it's packed, you won't have much room anyways. Just take your ice cream to the plaza and enjoy it. If it's busy, it's also difficult for the employees to jump out the groove to wipe down tables. I'm boring, so I don't order off the signature board; however, if you love at least 3 or more toppings in your ice cream - order a signature and sub out some toppings and/or ice cream as it's cheaper than a create your own + 3 toppings (ok, official terminology is mix-ins). I personally try to find the shift lead or someone experienced to make my ice cream to ensure I don't get a pile of melted ice cream in a cup or a messy cup with ice cream dripping along the outside of it and on my hand. Don't hesitate to ask someone to remake your ice cream though. You pay too much for milk in a cup. The cakes are amazing, but the customer service with the cakes depends on the person. I have a particular cake I used to order that I can sometimes get away with. Pretty much 2 different signature cakes within one cake. The smoothies are interesting. It's a love it or hate it experience. The milkshakes are hard to nail because the consistency of ice cream varies. When the shake is thicc, it's delicious. The kids that work are normally quick with service and getting you out the door. If you leave a tip, please have a kind heart and say "don't sing" before you tip via card or cash. I stopped in with my two sons to enjoy a treat while we were having fun around Town Center (ok, fine, it was actually a bribe to cooperate while I shopped the Loft sale across the street). The gentleman working behind the counter was so lively and animated that he made our experience extra enjoyable. He offered us as many samples as we wanted and seemed happy to help us. The ice cream shop and its bathrooms were very clean. My boys got blue cotton candy ice cream with marshmallows on top. It looked absolutely terrible to me, but they loved it. I chose coffee flavored ice cream with a Reece cup as the mix in. It was perfect. Indoor and outdoor seating was available, but we walked across the street to eat our ice cream on the square near the fountain. I have always been a fan of cold stone. In fact, I much prefer ice cream over frozen yogurt. Cake batter is pretty much the only flavor I ever get because it tastes just like its name says. I love that you pick your mix in or a pre-decided "creation". Pros- everything always tastes fresh, they make beautiful cakes, plenty of options Cons- the only one I have is that when you choose your mix in, they barely put any in there; ex. The first time I ever stepped foot into a Cold Stone Creamery was at this location back in 2004. I thought to myself, "what a magical place." There are 6 people behind the counter making ice cream and singing every time someone gave a tip of over a dollar. My favorite was a parody of the Flintstone's theme song. Fast forward to 2011 and there are 3 people behind the line and the singing has stopped. The ice cream and shakes are still wonderfully delicious, but that extra level of service that was profiled on shows like 60 Minutes, is gone, at least at this location anyway. I came hoping to relive some of that magic but I was a bit disappointed. But I was prepared for it. Of all the Cold Stones I've been to in SoCal, not a single one had singing employees. I am not a big ice cream person and yes, i know ...it's a travesty. Every once in a blue moon I will get a craving for ice cream but it is not something that happens very often. One night I was down in the Virginia Beach Town Center and this craving hit me like a ton of bricks. I had never been to a Cold Stone before but of course I'd always heard a lot of things about this ice cream shop. They had a special ice cream the night I was in - blueberry batter. The ice cream was so good, I can't remember what mixer I got (I think it was 'Nilla Wafers) but the ice cream itself was just about perfect. They have a ton of ice cream to choose from - there are things you can put together yourself or creations that have already been set up by Cold Stone.
