Minor annoyances spoiled what would have been a good treat. Tonight we were going to pick-up a couple of ice cream cakes from CSC at Kent Station. Two things really spoiled the experience for us. First, the two ice cream cakes and a small container of sorbet were over $50, something I don't think either my wife or I suspected when the order was placed over the phone. I'll take ownership of this issue. In some part we thought "no worries, I've got a Kent Station gift card for $25, so it'll only be $25 more out of pocket." Wrong. Problem number two had to do with the store's or their staff's inability to do a split payment for merchandise (ie. $25 gift card plus $25 cash or credit). So we ended up paying $50 out of pocket. Ouch! Given the fact that in nearly any other instance where I have needed to do a split payment -- grocery stores, music stores, etc. -- I strongly have the feeling that either the staff person wasn't fully trained on how to do this. I have a hard time believing the retailer is not equipped to handle transactions like this. In the end, the ice cream cakes were adequate but not stellar. It takes a significant amount of distraction to put a damper on my enjoyment of ice cream, but that was enough to do it for me. read more

Service was very slow. Disinterested is an understatement as one other reviewer put it. I would call it rude. Theee ladies working but only one attending to customers. When I asked one to help me she said she had to finish stocking the ice- cream in a "as if I cared" tone. We left without purchasing anything because of the rudeness. When we looked back all three were laughing. I have had Cold Stone previously and thought it over priced. So I didn't mind being run off with such bad service. I won't ever return. Coldstone is always a fun idea. You get to pick your ice cream, candy and other snacks, they mix it, you eat it. Service is a little on the slow side, it's like that every cold stone I've ever been to. It takes time to scoop ice cream and mix it up. There are not a lot of places to sit inside either. I got a smoothie and for some odd reason it was filled with huge ice cubes. I have never seen a smoothie nor blended before. Paid almost $6 for ice. Ended up spending in all $25 for 2 small plain ice creams with no mix ins, a small ice smoothie, and 1 other thing. Not impressed. read more

However what I found to be very interesting was the fact where the cashier leaves the credit card transaction after they are ran, in a basket right at the front counter! WOW! Amazing amazing people work here!! They actually hold conversations with you and don't mind letting you try all their ice cream! Perfect place for desert during summer or winter. My experience here last night was awesome. I went in with my niece who had just turned 5. The girl behind the counter (I believe her name was Tanya?) spoke directly to my niece when she took her order, which is always nice. She's 5 and wants to be independent. Then, after I ordered and I was going to pay, I mentioned that it was my niece's birthday and that we had gone to Red Robin for dinner, but that they hadn't sang to her even though I told them it was her birthday, which is why we ended up here for ice cream. So she asked what my niece's name was and proceeded to sing her Happy Birthday. My niece thanked her with a smile. That was a very sweet gesture. Then later, as we were eating our ice cream, the girl came out to do some cleaning and such, and my niece asked her what was behind the door.. so she got to learn about "where the ice cream lives", which was the first thing she went home and told both of her moms. Went in tonight -- only one employee with a line out the door. I'd honestly give the employee herself five stars because even though she was getting negative and rude comments about the slow service and lack of employees left and right - she responded positively to each one AND mixed ice cream AND rang people up while also, when it was my turn, asking me how long I waited and apologized. She was so sweet and personable it definitely turned the bad experience of a long wait into a great service experience. Four stars because whoever owns this franchise has dropped the ball. If you own a franchise and you're understaffed you need to roll up your sleeves and get in there yourself. Actually the owner gets one star. ;) Until he/she hires help for that young lady! I love coming here. Great service, great atmosphere, (although they don't have a ton of room; probably not the place for a large group unless you want to eat outside) and, above all, great ice cream. Rich, creamy, flavorful, and a wide variety of flavors and types including frozen yogurt, sugar free, and fat free options. Austin was the associate helping, and I just have to say, he handled it phenomenally. He got them through fast for how many there were and never lost his professional, friendly demeanor. We were disappointed in our experience at this Cold Stone location. The staff seemed friendly, but when I asked for a sample the employee had like spaced out and didn't hear anything I said. When another employee overheard me say I wanted a waffle bowl he told me "Sorry, we are completely out of everything waffle". Which totally put a damper on my excitement, but I went on and got my ice cream. As we were paying we smelt waffles, low and behold they were making waffle cones! It's one thing to say we are completely out and another to say oh we are out but we can make you one in 5 minutes. To me the latter would have been good customer service, and an upsale for them! Today at 4:45pm 2/17/19 we went in to look at ice cream, buy some, and have conversation. We started talking and looking at the options from our table. After some time we kept talking about the flavors from our table. Then the guy working there started to stare us down very rudely. He said we needed to order something to be there. What has happened to this place. The manager, or so he claims, is the rudest most disgusting person I have seen in a long time. This is supposed to be an upscale ice cream parlor. So when I come into the store, I don't expect to see the employee glued to the phone ignoring his customers. Unlike the Cold Stone in Covington, I was not greeted or even looked at. Nor were the other people waiting in line. Several minutes passed by with this guy talking on the phone. One gentleman scolded him about how much he was disrespecting his customers before he walked out. The guy just kept talking on the phone. He would switch the phone from hand to hand when he did start working on peoples ice cream. If you've never been to a cold stone, it's all hand massaged with your choice of toppings. Not once did I see this guy wash his hands. He handled the phone, rang up the money, and made your ice cream with the same dirty ungloved hands. Not once did he put down the phone. After he served the people before me, still holding the phone, he looked over to me and wiped his nose with his right hand. His ungloved right hand. I was stunned. I showed him my coupons as I hesitantly asked to have four drinks. Still on the phone, he lies to me and states that I can only use one coupon PER FAMILY a day. Uh, so when Covington, Southcenter, Factoria, and even Kent Station before he was in charge would either allow me to make two separate purchases or just ring up the coupons to save the time and hassle, they must have been in the wrong? Usually I would call that customer service. Heck, I went to the Southcenter Cold Stone after this and not only did they accept my coupons, they replaced them with a better coupon from behind their counter. Go there, not here. That's besides the fact that the coupon states: "one coupon per customer." He would not allow my wife to make a separate order because of his lie that it was ONE PER FAMILY. That lie was the final straw. His rudeness (he was still on the phone when talking to me), his fondling of his nose and touching the ice cream scoops and scrapers, and finally his lie just pissed me off. I don't tell off store employees, it's just plain rude. I told this guy off though. No apologies, no explanations, no emotion. He just didn't give a damn. I told a coworker about this and he stated that he was on the phone when he visited about a month earlier. Whoever owns this franchise needs to fire this idiot. He is costing you business. read more
