I took my daughter for her 13th birthday. We traveled from MD to NYC to celebrate with family. My appointment was 11 am, I called to let them know I would be 20 mins late. When we arrived my daughter was attended to immediately. She has natural hair - never silk pressed nor permed. Beverly did it all (protein treatment, trim, silk press)! So i found dinah from instagram i wanted to get a silk press and a hair color consultation...honestly herself and staff were friendly and professional but i ABSOLUTELY did not appreciate the fact that my service fee was 93 dollars and was forced to spend 211!! I have been a customer of Dinah's for about 9 years now and she truly has the magic touch. While I was in NY I consistently went to her for my weave installations and perms, and my hair grew healthy, strong and long. I had some hang time. It was in the best condition ever and unfortunately after I moved and switched hairstylists my healthy hair journey saw some setbacks. Enough for me to decide to make the trip to NY for my "haitian trim" and perms. Dinah KNOWS her clients. Everyone at this salon is extremely unprofessional. I called to ask a clarifying question about my consultation appointment and ended up getting into a back and forth with the receptionist who has obviously never had a job in her life. I asked for her name and I was told "don't worry about it". A complete joke. She knew she was being disrespectful and rude which is why she didn't want to tell me her name. Then I ask to speak to the manager , she says her name is Dinah.. who I presume to be the owner. She gets on the phone with the same defensive tone offering a weak apology. After I told her I'm not interested in paying $20 for a hair consultation and I know exactly what I want she asked me what day I want to come in . I told her I'd like to come in ANY DAY in the afternoon, I had no preference. She rudely kept telling me that I needed to tell her a specific day. I then repeated that ANY DAY would work for me. That was obviously too much for her to understand so she then said "we don't have any appointments next week"... very dumb answer after someone said they'd take the next available appointment in the afternoon. She then hung up on me telling me she didn't wanna do my hair even though she didn't know my name or information. Bottom line is, the professionalism isn't there and I would never trust anyone at this salon to put their hands anywhere near my head! They don't even care to get clients in the door, you think they care about your hair ?? YEAH RIGHT. Hands down this the best salon I've been to. I came to Dinah, not for color or style but to treat my breaking hair. Not only was the staff courteous but they were friendly and knowledgeable. Dinah took the time to talk to me about my hair and explain my options to get it back on track. After my wash, protein treatment, color (black to cover grays), cut and perm press my hair looked and felt amazing. Dinah even took the time to schedule upcoming appointments with me, so that I could continue coming in. Three months later I still come into Coiffed220 every 2 weeks and when I had to miss an appointment I can honestly say I went through withdrawals and my hair let me know it. If you have a bad experience with this salon then it is because you aren't listening to what they are telling you. Coiffed220 is about hair CARE and STYLE. So if you just want a color without the stylist telling you if your hair can handle it, then maybe this isn't the place for you.
