To ensure those who observe my review understand that it is written with transparency and accuracy, I've edited it to include screenshots of only a few correspondences between myself and the business owner, posting the entire dialogue with no edits as she'll claim. For reference, she ignored my DM and was very nasty towards me in social media comments and so I contacted her through documented business channels - though she's now blocked. As a consumer, I cannot be held liable for defamation or misinformation for accurately conveying and portraying my experience as she threatened in a former review - and for that reason, I am not worried. Regarding my experience, this beautician is distrustful, unprofessional, and misinformed. In May 2025, I completed appointment intake forms and requested to not be filmed or photographed during my June 2025 appointment. Despite this, I believed I was filmed, photographed and posted to Tami's social media. I brought this to her attention through VARIOUS communication channels and kindly requested removal - providing proof of the form I completed that did not authorize being filmed or photographed. Despite this, I was met with hostility, poor tone, poor customer service, told I did provide permission, was said to be harassing her and was eventually dismissed. I found her response to my concerns to be very unprofessional and deemed her an untrustworthy individual. Not to mention, I came to my appointment with grease in my hair, where she suggested I utilize harsh Dial and/or Dawn soap to wash my hair because my hair wasn't sudsing - as opposed to a clarifying shampoo. I am not a duck in an oil spill... there's no reason to utilize dial and/or dawn soap in place of clarifying shampoo. For this reason, she's unknowledgeable and misinformed. And finally, she was very rough with my hair and played very loud music with profanity. The environment made me uncomfortable. Yet, I was still polite and tipped for service rendered. In all, I want a beautician that respects their clients wishes, is informative and provides a calming environment and she does not meet these standards. Today was my second trip to T-Roots salon and it will definitely not be my last visit! I love the services that I received from Tamy. My first visit, Tamy executed the color that I wanted and helped me to feel comfortable during the entire process. I love my color. I was worried that the color would change my curl pattern and texture and it did not change it at all. I asked a million questions and she answered all of my questions and equipped me with the much needed tools for me to continue my healthy hair journey. During my second visit I got a protein treatment and a wash n go (shingle) style. I typically don't like to do a wash n go because it never comes out how I imagine it should...believe me when I tell you that Tamy killed my wash n go and I was so happy with it! I would highly recommend letting Tammy grace your crown with her hands. She not only gives you a step by step guide pertaining to the products and treatments she's performing, but she also has a great personality and adds personalized touches to the overall experience. I used Tami hair care services for a few years prior and during the COVID pandemic. During that time, I moved out of town and the last appointment I had with her was in early May 2021. Primarily, I've always felt satisfied with Tami's hair care services (w/ the exception of high prices continuously rising). I understand that natural hair isn't easy to care for and requires time, patience, and delicate care. However, I began to feel that paying $200-$300 per appointment wasn't worth it. Therefore, I decided to continue my natural hair journey with sister locks. I figured if I'm going to pay this kind of money, I might as well make an investment that will make me confidently feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I got my sister locks installed July 2021. One thing that my loctician brought to mind is the way my hair is growing. Specifically, how the front is growing. It isn't growing evenly with the rest of my hair, as it should. It's a lot shorter. Tami was the only person who has cut/trimmed my hair for the last couple of years. I've always noticed that too, but never really put two and two together. At least not until now. Tami, I've always respected you, but if I'm to be honest, there's always room for human error, but for the prices you charge your clients, there's little to no room for mistakes. Especially giving customers a bad cut. You always stayed on me about keeping my hair regularly trimmed ever 4 months and then this happens: it doesn't grow correctly! And not to mention the price for a haircut/trim at that time (almost $100)! When other places will charge $30-$50. Really? Smh. I gave 3 instead of 5 stars to 'try' to be fair, but I'm extremely disappointed! read more

This was my third time booking with Tamy and she amazingly skilled & gifted. She really takes her time and cares about the health of the clients hair. Every time I've left her suite my curls look really juicy & healthy. She always gives great recommendations & also sells her own products from her haircare line. Tamy is AMAZING!!! She just opened up after the pandemic and is taking soo many great precautions. This is my second time going to her and she did such a good job with my hair, as usual. She is patient and sweet. She really takes her time with your hair and defines every last curl. This time around I did a tapered cut and I have never done a cut that drastic before. Sadly. I did not have a good experience. I didn't get my hair done because ... drum roll. Despite the very strict late and cancellation policies, the stylist was late. Had me waiting in an lobby for 30 minutes exactly, standing, bc the chairs are filthy. I'm actually a patient person but to have a policy where you would charge clients a late fee yet there is no accommodation for the client when the stylist is late. It's unprofessional. Also regarding the heads up giving in the policy about the parking, I paid 70 dollars in Uber fare to come all the way here when I live on the other side of town just to avoid being late because I respect people's time. I don't care how well this woman does hair, not worth my time. Very unprofessional. God bless. And I would really hope I'm not charged for a service I was not given today nor a late fee or no show , because I will not be rescheduling. I hope this review encourages a change in such strict policies if you cannot honor your own policies. read more
