If I could give Chic Beauty Salon a negative triple zero, I would. When I first started going a few…read moreyears ago, the service was decent. But over time, the service declined, and I felt the owner became more involved in my personal business than in providing good customer service. I also had concerns about cleanliness. The restroom wasn't always properly stocked. and after my daughter got her hair done there, she developed a scab on her scalp. I experienced an itchy scalp as well, which made me question the cleanliness of the tools. I also witnessed unprofessional behavior, including speaking negatively about other Black stylists. I believe a salon should be a space where clients feel comfortable and leave feeling good. Based on my overall experience with professionalism, cleanliness, and customer service, I can no longer recommend this salon. One of the hairdressers named Chante is a pick me and will try and compete with you! I would not recommend at all!

I told her how great her hair looked and she happily pointed to the Chic Beauty Lounge sign behind her. She told me that her sister was the braider and offered to walk me inside the salon. I gleefully accepted her offer. Her sister was booked and busy for the day. At the same time, a young lady named Coco was also getting busy, braiding up a client in the next chair. She took my number and told me that she would fit me in no matter how late it was and she did. I left to run a few errands. A few hours later, Coco transformed me into the bombshell in the profile pic.

It was my first time heading to this establishment so I called first. They gave me a range of 45-60 depensing on hair texture and length. I showed up and the sisters were very kind. they spoke in English and Spanish for my comfort and the first washer was soooo gentle I was so reassured. I sat down for a deep condition and then the second sister washed my hair. Her hands were more firm but still gentle ENOUGH for me to know my hair was in the hands of growers. She did a minimal detangle, which I enjoyed. After she blow dried and deranged. Last, i got a cut and flat iron. I loved every minute of my time here. My hair felt fluffy and clean. The cut was necessary and I can't wait to go back to my new aunties

What I love about Jenni is that she will always be straight with you when it comes to what can/can't and should/should not be done with your hair. She would rather see you do what's best for the health and look of your hair than just take your money, like a lot of salons that couldn't care less. Most importantly, it's obvious that this is a passion for her. She truly is one of the best stylist/colorists in NYC. There's always wine (or other tasty spirits) to sip while you wait and get comfy inside or out on the patio...chill vibe, jazz music. It's a Speak Easy salon, what's not to love?! ***for the ladies, I wanted to get my hair colored one particular date and Jenni asked if I was about to go on my period...what a strange question! She said she doesn't recommend hair coloring during that time because your hormones change and the color won't set properly. DO NOT LEARN THIS THE HARD WAY like me!!! Just wait until your hormones are back on track, she was not kidding***

I've been to so many different salons in Bay Ridge and this is the best one yet! Before coming in, my hair looked sorta choppy and the bangs where grown out - nothing blended and it looked a mess but then I came here and the woman cutting my hair blended everything so perfectly! Best blow out I've ever gotten too, I'm not a fan of blow outs because I feel like I always end up looking like Farrah Fawcett with huge hair but it came out so good! The whole experience was great, I love my haircut so much and will only be coming to this salon from now on.
