One would take an hour, the other would take a 1/2 day because they're always busy. They took my car, and in less than 5 minutes the tech came back and explained that my car's computer had been reset and the readiness monitors weren't complete. I had recently changed the battery, so that made sense. He told me I just needed to drive it another 50+ miles. What I didn't expect was the $40 charge for that check. At my usual place, if the car doesn't pass, the fee covers retesting within 30 days. I assumed most smog shops worked similarly, but that was my assumption. Here, the $40 was just for running it through the machine, and when I come back it will be full price for the actual smog test. What confused me was that the manager later mentioned that if I had told them about the battery, they could've checked the readiness monitors in about a minute with a different device. That part would've been helpful to know upfront. It seems like offering that quick pre-check automatically could save customers time and money, especially since battery replacements are common. I paid the $40. That's on me for not asking more questions beforehand. But for anyone going in for a smog check, especially if you recently disconnected your battery, I'd recommend asking them to check your readiness monitors first before running the full test. They were fast and polite. I just think clearer communication about pricing and the quick pre-check option would make the experience much better for both the customer and the business. I understand every business runs differently, but this pricing structure just doesn't work for me long term, so I'll be returning to the shop I normally use.

I got a full refresh on my 2018 340i. car was overheating and misfiring last minute before i got here. i had to changed oil filter housing ,valve cover, old pipes, new inner cooler and many more. their were able to tackled all in within 1month or so and top of that parts was the longest wait. Note; their shop was insanely filled with other cars and insanely busy. Andy and the crew was friendly and informative what i need to be done before things get hectic with the old pipes, so i pulled the triggered and did everything for future headaches. got the Car back and it feels super healthy and way more alive. Bro, if you have a Mazdaspeed go see Javi…read more My 2012 Speed3 got hit hard. Frame damage, front end smashed, lights dead. I thought it was done. Javi sent me to a body shop he trusts & they killed it. Frame fixed. All OEM bumper parts. Perfect color match. The only way you can tell is the new bumper is shinier than my old oxidized paint lol. He even wired in new horns while the front end was apart. I had an oil leak & Javi called it right away. Cracked turbo. He told me to upgrade instead of chasing leaks. CorkSport later confirmed the crack in my old K04 & gave me the full core rebate. New turbo runs so smooth. Over the past year he's basically rebuilt my car. Airbags, seat belts, cooling fan, motor mounts, rear rotors, & suspension with Koni Yellow struts. Every part is OEM, CorkSport, Whiteline, or Koni. Perfect OEM plus build. He caught a corroded battery cable before it left me stranded. It pulls clean with zero knock. Ready to scare some drivers. He even mounted a vintage Heuer yacht timer on my dash. Random request, but he was down. He knows the Mazdaspeed must dos. Direct injection builds carbon on the intake valves, so he cleaned them. He replaced my VVT & timing chain parts. He rebuilt my HPFP with upgraded internals. Skip these & your Speed3 won't last. Last visit he did oil pressure & temp gauges, a CorkSport skid plate, a left axle with a 2 year warranty, & spark plugs. He also fixed my AC, which was over pressurized. But the headlight is the real story. Another shop tried 3 times & gave up. Javi reverse engineered it. He sacrificed an OEM tech package right headlight for parts & rewired it. Now my left light works. That's real problem solving. After pickup I had a coolant leak. He drove all the way from San Gabriel to the Valley to check it himself. It was just the pressure cap. Cheap fix & no issues since. No mechanic has ever done that for me. He's honest on cost & tells you when to save on parts. No upselling. He works on everything but if you're in the Mazdaspeed community, you already know his name. Driver's era cars need guys like Javi. Old soul, new parts & always keeping me on the road!
