Have been a loyal patron for sometime. Yesterday went in and met a client . The owner decided that I had not ordered quick enough and demanded I order something immediately. When I told him I was right in the middle of a conversation he asked me to leave with attitude and anger. I told him that I was a loyal patron and have brought alot of business to him. He told me I was not wanted or needed. He continued to speak to me rudely. I was in disbelief as we hadn't done anything to warrant this response. I live in Chandler, Az but frequent Tucson because of the nonprofit I organize. I needed a spot to conduct literacy trainings with hosts and a Tucson local recommended Coffee X Change. I decided to keep holding the meetings there for the last few months, each visit bringing in 2 to 5 paying customers. On Sunday, February 9th, I accidentally left four picture books, totaling $60 altogether. I had just gotten back to Chandler when I realized I left the books so I called and pleaded for them to hold them until I could get back to Tucson in the next couple of weeks. I gave my full name and phone number because I really needed the books back. I was assured they would hold the books. Today, Monday, February 24th, I was able to make it back to Tucson and around 12:30 pm, I went back to the coffee shop. I ordered a cheese danish and small vanilla iced latte that came out to just a little over $9.00. After I ordered, I inquired about the books. The person taking my order paused and said they would take a look, coming back empty handed. They indicated that they did not have them to which I explained I had called two weeks ago and asked the person who answered to hold the books, giving my name. The person serving me then turned back and I saw them drag something, figuring they were moving the trash can to look for the books. While they were moving the trashcan, it was not to get it out of the way. It was to dig through the trash. The following books had been thrown away: "The GayBC's" M.L. Webb ($14.99) "Neither!" Airlie Anderson (16.99) "The Family Book" Todd Parr ($17.99) "The Day You Begin" Jacqueline Woodson ($18.99) I did not receive a sincere apology; the person serving me (who I assume was the manager) just ordered someone else to clean off the coffee soaked books. They did not offer to replace the books, heck, they did not even offer a discount on my order. I was told the books were thrown away because no one picked them up. Even though I had called and explained that I could not make it back for two weeks, the staff felt that they should just throw away the books. What made these books so worthless that the staff could not follow up with a phone call or hold them for a couple more days? Even if the four picture books that could fit into a small tote bag took up too much room, why couldn't the books be donated to another organization? Was it because the LGBTQ+ content? Were these books not worthy of existing anywhere other than the trash? Also, why not recycle? The shop is more than willing to sell reusable straws to profit off the eco trend but not willing to recycle the books? I will not attend this coffee chain again nor do not recommend it. read more

Halloween afternoon al Pacino our host & server was very friendly and accommodating ( in costume ) . All food on large most healthy menu items told is fresh . The spicy guacamole burger ( angus or black bean I had ) was fresh tasty & spicy w jalapeños on a great pretzel bun. Regular customer, but recently disappointed over and over... ordered a bagel, lox, cream cheese, onion, tomato, and cucumber sandwiches... Often selection of bagels limited (no poppyseed, no plain, ordered sesame but got an everything bagel with very little stuff on top), once out of onions, and lately bagels VERY small and taste terrible!!! And now the restaurant/patio on a Friday night closes early at 9 p.m.... we got kick out. I've been coming here for years, but it's been YEARS since I came here regularly. And yet, Jonathan never fails to recognize me (by name) and my usual order. It's incredibly impressive. The food and beverages are excellent, of course. But it's the service that is astounding. We ordered to go and arrived to pickup with a long line of cars ahead of us. A young man came out with a laminated menu to let us order ahead of the normal spot several cars ahead of us. We told him it was to go and gave him the name. He ran our order out to us and took our payment while we were in line! We scooted out of line once the exchange (Xchange!) was completed. First time visit. We arrived to a short line. The restaurant presented clean with a lively atmosphere. We placed our order, received our pastries and seated ourselves. Our coffee arrived shortly afterwards. (When I asked the cashier about refills, she stated yes "if you buy food"). The coffee was hot and tasted fresh. I feel bad for whoever works here, the people who own this place are not good people. Can't help but say the reason they had tons of locations close all their doors down to only one left is their karma! Last I heard two people tried to go in there and even though the guy paid for something, they also made the girl (who was with him and a part of that table) pay for something or they were kicking her out. And even worse they can't do their own dirty work and make their staff uncomfortable by forcing them to do carry out their ridiculous demands. Also extremely sexist work environment and favoritism towards male employees. Go anywhere else for a cafe, so many places are better! I love this place. Bagels are always fresh with a crust that gives way to a crumb that's dense and chewy, but tender and easy to bite through. Toasted just right! Recently I stopped by on the way to work to grab something for lunch since I wasn't prepared and wouldn't be able to leave the office. So glad I did! They have about 9 different delicious options for fresh salads. It was a little hard to choose. tried their chipotle salad with a fresh cooked piece of chicken on top. It was delicious!! I've had desserts there that are amazing as well as a wrap and egg bites. All made with quality ingredients. Honestly, I don't know why I don't think more often about this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu is pretty stacked with lots of delicious fresh options for any meal. They have a really nice inside area to eat as well as a beautiful patio. I have come here on and off for a while. I liked the work space, the ample plugs, onsite printer, and decent menu. Plus they're open pretty late which is a huge bonus. However, I recently had a poor service experience that is forcing me to change my perspective (which seems to be fairly common from the other negative reviews I've seen). I was recently there to get some work done and brought in some outside food. The owner told me that it is against the law to have outside food. I understood and put the food away. Fair, no hard feelings. However, despite this he felt it necessary to continue lecturing me and condescend to me. I am a traveling nurse and sometimes I get to go near Tanque Verde and when I am there I like to stop at Coffee Exchange. I ordered an 8$ burrito this morning. The description read the burrito had hash browns. I got my burrito which was super soggy and no hash browns in sight. Instead it had mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and tomatoes in it. I could not eat it between all the sogginess and veggies it was not appetizing at all. I called coffee exchange, I believe I had the wrong order. The guy on the phone assured me the burrito had hash browns in it and that the description said the burrito came with veggies. Ok. I didn't expect mushrooms or bell peppers in there. Either way I explained I couldn't eat the burrito. He told me to order a burrito without veggies next time or however I liked it. The man didn't apologize. Offer a discount for next time. Or even to remake the burrito for me at a later time. NOTHING. As a local paying customer I felt he didn't care about my business and I won't ever spend my money there again. read more

After having just moved back to Tucson from Scottsdale, I decided to go back and visit an old favorite of mine. This visit did not disappoint! Their food is super fresh and always made to order! I had the tuna salad and it was delicious :) Coffee-wise I went with the cappuccino first and the bulletproof coffee second--I will ABSOLUTELY be back to order both again! Absolutely superb! My girlfriend and I have recommended this work of art coffee shop to several family and friends. Come to find out they agree with the 5/5 rating! The owners are hardworking and dedicated to servicing all patrons. Try the Almond Joy Xtreme if you're into a sweet tasting blended iced beverage, or the iced green tea (can't go wrong with this - AND it's unsweetened!). DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE!!! I just recently left my job at coffee x change for many reasons. First of all the owner Jonathan is extremely creepy and inappropriate. He is constantly trying to touch you any chance he can get. When he would walk past me he would grab my hips. He just overall made me super uncomfortable and I talked to another person who quit for the same reasons. Not only is the owner bad but the manager is even worse. She is constantly talking about other co workers when they are not there and will even talk bad about the other people working there with the assistant managers if she thinks they're not doing something right or being to slow. Some of the girls who have worked there awhile will stand there doing nothing and just boss the new employees around. Also would just like everyone to know they make the cashiers upcharge you for everything on the menu. And they fill there drinks literally all the way up with ice so you're basically paying for nothing. I would literally get yelled at if I didn't make the drink with like 90% ice. Also the "secret" powder is just latte powder you can get on amazon. They mix powder, half and half, and expresso to make the extremes (your welcome). Like most other coffee shops, they offer a lot of variety on their drink menu, from your classic coffee options, like lates, americano, mochas, drip coffee, and cappuccinos, to some sugary drinks, smoothies, and even food options. If you think you'll be coming here often after your first trip, sign-up for their customer rewards. Each time you order a drink, you'll earn points towards a free drink. I like coffee shops that still do that because it rewards its loyal customers for supporting their local shops and gives them a free drink from time to time. This coffee shop offers a variety of food options. Although I didn't order anything to eat, they had a large display of options from cookies, desserts, and pastries, to a menu to order sandwiches, soups, and salads.
