When I got here I did have to wait a bit since there was only 1 person working and she was making orders for 2 customers which I was totally okay with since it gave me enough time to figure out what I was getting since my grandma wanted me to surprise her with something new. Once I got my order in I waited less than 5 minutes which I was quite surprised about but very happy with. As for my drink I can't say I was in love with it but I did like it and I honestly wouldn't mind coming by and getting it again if I was really craving boba especially compared to some of the other places I've tried. My grandma and I also really liked how the boba was since it was soft but not super soft to the point it makes you wonder how long they've had it sitting out or if they over did it. So because of this she actually wants to try a different flavor so she can find her go to order since they're pretty close to us.
YipppTEA!... After seeing the hours on Yelp I thought that I'd have a missed opportunity for some late night tea and was surprised to see them still open see a post on their door of the extended hours to open until 9pm was thrilled and immediately entered. This Pearl Kai Shopping Center location is very easily accessible with lots of free parking by the shopping center and with a cool vibe with some seating provided by the store as well makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy your sip. Always a fruit tea lover it was the "Honey Green Tea" for me tonight as I wanted something light and refreshing to cleanse my palate and was asked but didn't want any toppings it was a nice and simple drink that I enjoyed throughout the night. The staff is so nice and friendly it was an easy sip and grateful for the extended hours so that I may enjoy something with convenience and is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Refreshing beverage in Pearl Kai Shopping Center, Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i... We arrived early for our reservation at the restaurant next door. Instead of waiting outside in the heat and sunshine, I urged my companions to go inside Coffee or Tea? because there was air-conditioning and seats available. The lone employee had to take orders and make drinks. She was very efficient and did as best as she could to keep up. When we were called back to the restaurant next door, she offered to make our drinks later - after we were done with dinner. However, I got permission from the restaurant to let us bring our drinks with us. Thank goodness! We enjoyed our wintermelon tea, cappuccino, and espresso shot. Thanks for accommodating us!
My daughter and I were in the mood for some boba, since this was the closest boba shop, we decided to stop by. When first walking in, it looks a bit bland, nothing special. I do have to say that it is very very clean. No dust on the menu, or the ceiling. It shows the place is taken care of. There was only 1 worker and I felt a bit sorry for her due to the evening rush on a Friday. I wasn't in a hurry, so I didn't mind waiting. We ordered a strawberry smoothie w/ boba and an iced lemon black tea with boba. The flavor was great. The texture of the boba was delicious, wasn't too hard or too soft. This is definitely a place I will continue to visit.
We always come here for the #2 shaved ice! The ice is pretty soft and they put what seems like a brown sugar syrup over it. Then they put grass jelly, tea (or coffee) jelly, custard, and boba. They were out of boba when we went so we added ice cream! Overall it's not too sweet and perfect for sharing between 2-3 people.
Located in the Pearl Kai shopping center, Coffee or Tea offers a wide selection of drinks ranging from bubble tea and shakes to coffee. It's a possible study spot for those looking for a place that opens past 7 pm. Service and Ambiance. It is a casual place with 4-5 small tables that seat 1-3, so it may not fit larger groups. I did spot 1-2 wall outlets. The decoration is pretty simple but gets the job done. There is stable foot traffic, but most are grab-and-go, so I've never had an issue getting a sit-down table for quick work. There was only one worker the last 2 times I've visited, so service can be slow if there are a lot of workers. Price $$: Moderately priced drinks comparable to other coffee/boba shops (~$5-$8 ). There is, however, a minimum purchase of $10 to pay with the card, so either make a group order or have cash. They also have some snacks displayed for sale, but they seem to be a bit overpriced (you can probably get it cheaper at an Asian supermarket/Chinatown) Drinks/Food: Drinks are on the sweeter side, and many drinks can't be adjusted to below 50%, so I've stayed away from most of their pre-sweetened drinks (i.e., winter melon milk tea, honeydew milk tea, etc ). They don't have as many options as other boba places for those with dietary restrictions. Only limited drinks aren't premade to accommodate no-sugar or non-lactose milk options. Boba here is also presweetened in honey/sugar, so no drink can truly be 0% sugar. I've stuck to their original milk tea series (Asam, Jasmine, Oolong) for 0% sugar, and they were all pretty delicious. It's not my best, but it will satisfy my boba tea cravings while getting some work done.

We tried the ube smoothie and the avocado smoothie. The fresh taro was good, full of flavor, and it's nice to know they had fresh taro and not just the artificial ube drink. But the avocado smoothie was pretty weak. When I received it in my hand, I looked at the color and already knew it would taste weak - there wasn't enough green in it, almost like a milky greenish color in the cup. I took a sip and confirmed it. There was a lot of milk or cream flavor more than avocado. Even though they used fresh avocado, there wasn't enough. The price was your average boba price. $7 for a medium and $8 for a large (their jumbo), but they do have an XL. The lady was friendly and the store was spacious and clean. It's mostly empty space with only a few tables by the wall so the shop probably expected people to just order takeout.
One of my favorite places for a classic Assam Milk Tea with boba. The tea is nice and smooth, subtly sweet and just perfect for my milk tea taste buds. There are some places that have milk teas tasting a little chocolatey IMO, but this place does it right. Their bobas are always soft and chewy and they have a stamp card :)! The lady helping me is super quick, got my drink in less than a minute...so fast haha Can't wait to come back again!
Consistent milk tea and boba texture. You will get the same drink every time you visit and that's what I love about this place. I like the oolong milk tea or jasmine green milk tea, you can taste the tea. It comes out to $6 something for a jumbo size with boba. They also have an option to get a gallon of boba and milk tea, great for parties!
First off, I believe that yelp needs to get the company's name correct with the "?" because I've uploaded my photo to the wrong place in McCully. This review is for the Pearl Kai Shopping Center location. A friend and I decided to come here after finishing a movie. I was amazed to see a vast selection of different coffee and teas. Not only do they have a huge menu on their walls they have a huge take out menu which looks like a display board for high school projects. These workers are a delight because if you are waiting for your drink at one of their tables, they remember your drink order and deliver your drink to you. Wonderful service. I decided to get their Thai Coffee and it was wonderful, somehow I wish that the coffee was a tad bit stronger. You could also customize your drink by changing the sweetness level (I tend not to add any sweetness because it just deprives the taste of the original flavor or the coffee and tea, if you are a real tea drinker--you know what I mean). My friend and I also shared a chocolate parfait in which kind of resembled a tiramisu but all chocolate and a light pudding texture that tasted like mousse. Don't forget to bring cash because it's one of those places. Also, if you are going to talk story... This place closes at 10:00 pm. Love the Taiwan style shave ice here! The coffee one is so good. I love coffee jello and they are generous with the coffee jello here!!! I'm so glad there's one here in Pearl Kai so we don't have to go all the way out to Waipio!!! I'll be back because I want a fresh watermelon smoothie! read more
I can't believe I wrote such a short review for coffee or tea. Shame on me! Coffee or Tea was one of the few milktea place about 16 years. Today there's many milktea joints but Coffee or Tea is one the best milktea place in Hawaii. My usual here is the jasmine green milktea with half sugar. That means half green tea & half milk tea so I feel better about drinking milktea often. Coffee or tea has the best soft Boba but I usually skip on that. Their milktea is smooth & flavorful. My children loves their green tea shake and mango smoothie. If you like mango smoothie on slushy side you can ask for no milk. We've also tried their peach, grape, lychee, lemon smoothies as well. As for service, they are awesome. Staff here work hard and keep this place neat & clean. The atmosphere here is modern and classy. It's a nice place to chat with your friends or do some quiet work. But please do bring your best manners because you can't just hangout here for free. read more
Coffee or Tea is a go to for Milk Tea. They make a better milk tea than most, I've even bought a gallon to take home to get my fix. If you are not going to drink it right away, don't get boba or ice and it will keep in the fridge for later. My other go to is their Honey Green Tea Crushed Ice Drinks--think slushy--which come in flavors like Plum, Lychee, and Mango. These are perfect on a hot day, sweet, but balanced by the green tea, ice cold and super refreshing. Free parking and fast service. Definitely check them out. read more

I was craving boba 10 minutes before this place closed and was able to call in an order to drive over and just pick it up! This Coffee or Tea is in the plaza with the power house gym. There was plenty of parking since everything was about closed there. I just got a plain milk tea smoothie with boba and pudding. Which was super satisfying. Thank goodness this boba spot was open late. Will most likely going here for my random quick boba craves. read more

I was craving a boba drink and hubby found this place. I was eager to try it out. I ordered a large mango green iced tea with boba and it cost me $7.00 and some change. It only took a few minutes before my drink came out. I took a sip of it and the flavor of the tea was off. The boba was good and soft but the mango green iced tea didn't taste right. First of all, I couldn't taste the mango. It was bitter and sour. The green tea flavor wasn't there. I was highly disappointed in my tea but happy with the boba. I ended up drinking all of the tea because I did pay almost $8.00 for a large. I should have gotten a small. Oh well! I know not to order that flavor. I walked out disappointed. The inside was clean and there were tables around. It was a small area and it was cute! The ladies working here were nice. Parking is up front and you can only park for an hour as signs are posted. Just descent. Not great! There needs to be more of a mango and green tea flavor. My drink didn't have that! read more

Been coming here for a long time and have tried most of the things on their menu. I've never had anything here I didn't like. There are a few things I love---the lychee smoothie with boba, ginger milk tea, azuki bean smoothie---and there are a couple of things that are so-so, such as their shave ice and chocolate milk tea. But they have a diverse selection of drinks, and everything is fresh and full of flavor. Staff is also very friendly. read more

if you are thinking there are no boba tea shops open during this "pandemic" have no fear. coffee && tea is here.... we've been coming here almost every weekend. and they have the best service ever. we just went this past weekend. they had only one lady working when it opened. but dude she was on it. she could handle, and made all of our drinks in a timely manner. and did i mention there were like 5 people (6 feet apart, all masks on) waiting to order. so for real, if you are wanting to satisfy your boba tea addiction come stop by pearl kai. and visit coffee && tea. they the best!!! read more

First off, I know that Taiwanese shaved ice is not what I ordered (rainbow shaved ice with 2 scoops of ice cream), but I didn't want to put too many toppings on top since my son was with me. The ice was nice and fine and the flavors were pretty good (not too sweet). I wasn't a fan of the banana. At first it tasted okay, but then it had a strange after taste. I wish they had more syrup flavors. They only had three flavors. The ice cream was very good, but it was a little weird to eat chocolate ice cream with the rest of the flavors. The portion was huge. Four people total ate it, and we still didn't finish it. It cost $6 which I thought was a little expensive, but the portion was big. We we're pretty satisfied after eating it. read more

I've been loving this combination of milk tea lately. It has a good tea flavor and is so refreshing and sweet! I wasn't a fan of the boba because it had some chew to it (I like mine pretty soft and less chewy). I prefer other shops version of this drink, but this is still pretty good. S E R V I C E The lady who made this drink was friendly and made my drink pretty fast. All the ingredients were prepped already so she just had to assembly it. O V E R A L L If I'm ever on the island I'll probably come back and buy the party size of the milk tea (I'm a boba addict so I spend a lot of money towards my addiction, haha). The service here was good and fast. I liked how this place had ample parking spots and tables/seats. Cash is preferred because if your total is less than $10 there's a card fee. Coffee or Tea is located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, towards Powerhouse. I like this place because I noticed they use fresh fruit in their drinks, which is a plus for me. I like both fresh and fake lol, but fresh trumps fake all the time for me. I didn't have a drink though lol, I got the rainbow shave-ice with vanilla ice cream. I don't know what it is about vanilla ice-cream and rainbow shave-ice, but it's always so good. I especially like that their shave-ice is powdery fine. The ice-cream is on top rather than on the bottom, which was a change for me and honestly, I liked it better that way, instead of working your way through the shave-ice, to get to the ice-cream, you get a bite of ice-cream all the time, when you want. I would definitely come here again for the same thing or to try something else! Great spot to put something like this in!!! read more
My review is based solely on the particular drinks that i ordered; honeydew shake and peach smoothie. They are both can-freaking-tactic! The hoebydew shake does have milk tea powder in it, which I normally dont like but I love theirs. The peach smoothie uses peach puree and very flavorful. They recently added the option for Ube walls so life is great. read more
Coffee or Tea is an alternative to your regular coffee shop or boba spot. It's located inside the Pearl Kai Shopping Center across from Pearlridge mall. They have different milk teas, fruit teas, and coffee offerings to choose from. They are pretty pricey for their "grande" which is pretty much their small. You can get a jumbo or super jumbo if your thirsty enough. I come here for their milk tea. I've tried a few flavors and prefer their Winter melon Milk Tea or Almond Milk Tea. It's a decent place to go, very clean and quiet. They have some dessert items also to go with your drink. If you want something simple but good, you're in the right spot. read more

I've been making the drive out to Coffee or Tea? at the McCully Shopping Center since I found out they even existed... At 21.1 miles from where I live in Mililani Mauka (42.2 miles round-trip!!), it's more like a journey for me than a drive!! LOL And that's not even considering the traffic I have to sit through sometimes. (Did you know Honolulu ranks #2 for the city with the worst traffic in the United States?!?!?) BUT WESTSIDERS REJOICE!! Coffee or Tea? just recently opened a second location at the Pearl Kai Shopping Center!! YIPPEE!! This place is set up almost the exact mirror image of the McCully location, with the exception of having no outdoor seating. Inside barely seats 22 people at the absolute most, and it always seems to be crowded in the evening. Hmmm... What to get? Now, that's a really good question because they pretty much have every tea and coffee drink known to man!! Okay, maybe that's a little bit of an over exaggeration, but there are a lot of choices here!! I normally opt out for my personal favorite... Green Tea Shake with Tapioca Pearls. There's something about the matcha flavor that is quite addicting to me. Now, this doesn't come with a few setbacks... And it's mainly PARKING!! I've said it many times already that PARKING HERE SUCKS!! Sometimes I have to wait more than 10 minutes for a parking spot to open up... But it's because they share a parking lot with a bunch of really good restaurants, and all the fitness freaks trying to get their workout on at Powerhouse Gym. They do have an overflow parking lot just behind Liquid Metal Tattoo & Piercing on Lipoa Place, if you don't feel like waiting. Regardless, the horrible parking situation will never deter me from ever coming here. I still go to the McCully Shopping Center location once in awhile when I happen to be in town for something, but now that there's one much closer, I don't have to travel as far when my Coffee or Tea? craving kicks in. read more
Coffee or Tea has a very inviting vibe. The place is well lit, everything looks organized, and clean, there's ample amounts of seating for patrons. Parking isn't too bad to find or at least wasn't for us each trip we've made. The staff are really friendly, helpful, and patient (especially when you're unsure what to order when staring at their vast offerings of goodness). My dad loves this place and makes a stop quite frequently. I've grown to love it too. I've come to prefer it over some of the other Tea places in the area. Plus you don't have to drive to town for your Boba fix. Just head near Pearlridge! Great place to stop by if you're already shopping in the area. There's lots to choose from. Obviously they have coffee and tea. But then there's bubble/boba tea/drinks, shakes, shaved ice, fresh fruit, and I'm sure other things I've overlooked. My past two visits I had the Hazelnut Milk Tea and then the Pudding Milk Tea. I'm open to trying other things they offer but those will likely be my go to choices. Both weren't overly sweet and paired well with the boba. I had their Pudding Milk Tea with Boba. The pudding breaks down easily wit each slurp so you don't end up with leftover pudding once you finish your milk tea. I've yet to be disappointed with this place. read more

I barely drink Coffee or Tea but if it's on the way, I'd stop to this location. I got the hazelnut boba and my man got the green tea shake. But one thing that turned me off was the two lady workers. Now, I'm not one to be a sassy customer. I'm super nonchalant and mind my own business but they made things so rude. While ordering, I asked if it was okay to sample it before sealing the deal just because I barely come and I'm not familiar with their sugar options. So the cashier looked at me with that "are you serious" face and then looked at the barista and laughed and talked Chinese or whatever language they spoke. Uh, was it bad that I asked? Then, when my BF ordered, the cashier rushed him to order. But whatever! It's cool. The drink was aight. read more
Wasn't aware that this place was in existence since 1999... WHATTT??? Where was I??? Anyway, this place is great; central location, beautiful interior & design, an actual parking lot, friendly staff, great prices (10% off till July 31, 2014, I think). The tapioca balls are so good! Cooked perfectly with a hint of sweetness. Probably can do without the custard cause the milk tea flavor is really yum. I def want to go back to try other flavors. You should go too! read more
